DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Welp...

Hot.

Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened

Honestly, don't know how to feel about this. Yeah, once Moot sold it any real anonimity was gone, and yes, as the leaks reveal it was all government psyops and bots. Yet, in that Golden Era between the 2000s and early 2010s, it was something else. Many of you newer guys might not realize this, but nearly all the memes, most of the internet culture, and hell even most of our lingo originated from 4chan. **** man, you can even argue powerscaling started due to the /co/ board, although the idea of two fictional character beating each other up is as ancient as the medium so who knows. To see it go out like this, does make me a bit sad. Will we ever get something like this again? Probably not on the clearnet where everything is rapidly become as sanitized as possible, and frankly, I don't believe that the newer gen is even capable of navigating an imageboard. Truly this is an end of an era.

Anyway, enough doomerpilling. Here is the final 4chan Post:

Russia invades Ukraine
Highest earning vtuber in the entire industry gets fired

4Chan is taken down
Largest vtuber in the entire industry has announced their retirement

Personally I FW Zamasu vs Zanza but thats me
I mean if that did end up happening, I would not lose a wink of sleep over it. But looking at Z's relationship with N, I think we have a bit more going on there.

Then again, over other Xeno JRPG MUs, I'm not exactly arguing the gospel over it.

On that note, I've given the canon Captain Falcon a look over, and... yeah, this is a perfect XCX Al MU. Might make a pitch about it, actually.

The comic just sides with Sonic here now, mocks Flash
It goes back and forth, the banter is great.

Flash later tells Sonic to "cope" when he beats him to finding the dimensional thingymabob.

  • It doesn't seem to take place in 616. It does takes place in the 70s, but Surtur and Fin Fang Foom are dead. Tony Stark is also dead. Hulk was thought to be dead for years as well.
  • The Thunderbolts have been trying to kill Godzilla for years.
  • Tony Stark has built Mechagodzillas before his death, Kumonga is controlled by Dr. Demonicus to attack Mothra and call Godzilla's attention
  • Dr. Demonicus betrays the Thunderbolts and reveals Hedorah as his creation, composed from parts of the kaijus they have slain, including Fin Fang Foom.
  • Hedorah knocked Godzilla down and fatally wounded him.
  • Hulk ragdolls a Mechagodzilla but has his hand burned by Hedorah.
  • Hulk heals Godzilla with electricity and his blood.
  • Godzilla has a "Gamma Green" form and one-shots Hedorah, the form doesn't last for too long though.
  • Godzilla and Banner seemingly sympathize with each other.

I know some people hate 4chan, but this is just sad. The site has its problems, but it was one of the longest standing places of truly free speech on the internet. One of the last places where there was anonymity in posting so you didn't have to worry about having a reputation like you have on other sites. Even if due to the nature of 4chan verification and doxing, anonymity might as well mean nothing. And even with nostalgia for the old internet? This site being gone makes it unlikely we'll ever get the old internet feeling again. Especially when those who miss it will eventually have families to care for, jobs, and won't have time to engage in fandom behavior with rare exceptions. Places like private Discord servers are the closest we can get to the old forum vibe, so we may as well embrace that while it lasts. But even those might not be safe given the people running Discord.

Also really gonna miss the leaks. The site was always useful for that, and it was one of the few places where it felt like I could get decent leaks consistently. Now how I'm gonna get my leaks? I don't know anymore, I'd need to rely on wherever blackmarket schizos go now.

But who cares. The last thing 4chan saw was this.

It's Godzilla in the end of the day.
Compo

Composite Godzilla cares not for whence the feats flow, only that they flow
Assuming that this Godzilla vs X-Men story goes down like Fantastic Four, then Godzilla does actually scale to mainline Marvel, unlike the monsterverse Godzilla who fought a nameless DC continuity.

Godzilla vs The Fantastic Four, while almost certainly not in 616, is happening in a continuity that mirrors it, enough to literally reference volume and issue numbers of prior 616 stories.
And you think death battle will use versions from crossovers, lets not act like they will composite to that degree
Hmmmmmm sooo......what is this?

And this? :V

You all can check by yourselves that this truly happened in the Godzilla VS Gamera | DEATH BATTLE! episode by skipping minutes 4:39 & 17:52…because there is an age restriction that doesn't allow the episode to be played in this forum.

Not even a punch or an accidental pump, they're just pals I guess.

IDK, fun comic, but "Godzilla vs Hulk" is false advertisement.

From what I know, right now Kazuya is the most popular option from Iori, nevertheless I think I've recently discovered a MU from Iori that I like quite a lot, so I kinda wanna here your thoughts on it.

5nerleifv7ve1.png

Kouma Kishima vs Iori Yagami (Tsukihime vs KoF)
  • Characters that were born in notorious clans (Yagami clan and Kishima clan) who have gained monstrous blood in order to become more powerful (Yagami clan forming a blood pact with Orochi and the Kishima clan mixing with onis), this however backfired, as eventually these clans would pretty much become extinct (Members of the Yagami clan dying because of being cursed and the Kishima clan getting massacred by Kiri Nanaya, alongside other hybrid clans), making Iori and Kouma the last members of their families
  • Both would have major beef with the clans of their series' protagonists (Iori fighting Kyo because of him being a Kusanagi and Kouma's clan getting massacred by Kiri, who he would have encounter again when Makihisa ordered him to slaughter the Nanaya clan), however they would move on from this (Iori not caring about the clan rivalry anymore and befriending Kyo and Kouma sparing Shiki when he was the only living Nanaya left), they still want to fight them though (Iori constantly challenging Kyo because... He wants to? It's really vague in KoF, while Kouma wants to face Shiki's Nanaya personality).
  • In combat both appear very violent and crazy, using their clan's martial art that allows them to use pyrokinesis (Yasakani style and Single Horn) and having things like berserker forms that they gain from their blood (Orochi Iori Crimson Red Vermillion Kouma), they even laugh like crazy guys while fighting, however in their everyday lives, they are very peaceful (Iori being a jazz musician who in reality hates violence and only displays while fighting, while Kouma is a hermit monk who lives alongside animals).
  • Both have hairstyles where one of their eyes gets covered lul.

I know this seems rich as someone who wants to throw Xeno JRPG characters into a flavour of the week, but doesn't Tsukihime have some really cracked T1 stuff vs KoF that's like... 7-A at most?

From what I know, anything beyond tier 6 for Tsukihime (Not counting REALLY OP stuff like Archetype Earth) is pure wank, even right before Type-Moon got nuked on VSBW we had most Tsukihime characters having tier 6 stats, including Kouma

Why did Fate / Type-Moon stuff get nuked?

But I wasn't talking about Scooby vs Courage.
Yeah, I know - I just thought 'well, DBa Hulk vs Godzilla is supposedly happening in proximity to an "official" colab, so let's benchmark that logic accordingly' (in this case, a comparison to Scooby vs Courage).

Hope you realize this is from an era death battle used about any source for characters canon or not, you seriously try to support your point with an old fight.....modern Death Battle changed buddy, comprehend it
