It is only with hardlight shields. Thank god they didn't say his Mjolnir level is city level, and like Doomslayer just has to hit him from the ground or blitz him too fast for him to use the shield.

Nah she just teleported him out of the ship as I mentioned above. He was just in low earth orbit.
The only nuke feat he only tanked a few kilojoules of it.
Hardlight shields is Forerunner stuff I'll give Chief that. His actual armor durability is only small building level irregardless.

At least my fears of Death Battle expounding the anti-civilization psychohazard known as "11D Chief" have largely subsided. They said that Chief tapped into a forerunner ship and used a "massive amount" of hardlight shielding just to perform the 30 megaton (well, quite a bit less once you factor in the inverse square law) durability feat, so there's no way he's going to scale above that.
And since that feat was so situational with it requiring a specific source of energy and an abnormally large amount of shielding, Chief is likely going to scale WAY below that with his normal physicals and his guns. Doom Slayer's got this.
Another thing worthy of note is that they didn't even bother waiting for Doom: The Dark Ages to come out before releasing the episode. They just know that Doomguy has way too much for Chief to handle and that Doom: The Dark Ages isn't really going to affect that by much

He only scales to city level (debatably lower due to Cortana's teleportation and/or the inverse square law) when Cortana amps his shields by siphoning hardlight from a Forerunner ship, and even then that's just his durability. He'd need to physically carry a HAVOK nuke and manually blow it up to reach city level attack potency, which would be very inconvenient for him as well as only being a last resort that he can only do once.

There's also no guarantee it would hurt Doomslayer even without the lore scaling. Doomslayer was utterly unflinched by the portal opening explosion from the Argent Tower, and Argent Tower produces double digit petawatts of energy (Megatons range).

Yep. People often overlook that fact and claim that it wasn't actually an explosion (even though the loading screen says that Olivia would blow open a portal to Hell, and even though everything from the sounds to the visuals to the aftermath strongly implies that an explosion occurred) or that Doomguy just teleported before the explosion happened (even though the explosion blew the portal open and was thus both causally and temporally prior to it).
Even if one takes issue with that, there's also Doomguy vaporizing a huge part of the Spider Mastermind and tanking VEGA's core destruction, both of which are pretty blatant. Those feats put his casual physicals as well as the BFG at least on par with Master Chief's Incineration Cannon, a weapon already capable of fodderizing Chief.
