DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Who are they?

Peter at least has a win and arguably best S1 ep (yes even if not many contenders lol).

Would Ladybug even actually beat Peter? :V

I was thinking about black-pills earlier, and thought deeper about the "Debating is useless" black-pill.

I think while debating doesn't actually change peoples minds effectively due to people being inflexible, it has performative benefits. Debating at least can build up confidence, allow you to develop better skills, and become better at communicating. Assuming you don't let certain people rot your brain. Most debating is kind of useless, but has good long term benefits in being performative.

Like actually if this Ladybug's 2-C shit is one-off, just imagine if they allowed it for Ladybug but didnt give Peter one-offs?

Talking seriously, aren't most of the potshots we take at this hobby jokes for the most part? I mean if we truly hated it as much as we say we do, we wouldn't engage in it and people who do consider VS stuff harmful for their lives (be it stressful, too time consuming or such) simply step away from it. What I am getting at, the fact it's a hobby you enjoy already makes it worth the time and not useless, But if you are looking for a "constructive" purpose, then, well... I guess that, even if the subject matter isn't useful in itself, you can still learn how to do proper research, gather information on a topic, writte down articles on a specific theme, the importance of comparing sources and translations, maybe some learn to calc or even end up learning languages, who knows.

And that's not getting into debating itself, which can hone, as you say, how you approach discussion and ideas. But you have to know who to engage with and to take punches as well. There are stubborn and ill tempered people, yes, but those can be found everywhere and on every subject, it's important to know when it's worth it and to not behave like that as well.

Debating (in general, not just Vs Debating) is a fascinating hobby where the short term benefits are annoying, but the long term performative benefits can make you mentally stronger, and more skilled. Overall? You might not change minds easily, or have your mind changed easily, but you'll learn a lesson or two from doing it. So is it worth it? That's up to you, but maybe you'll learn something important.
