DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

So after watching the fight, I got three things that are currently on my mind so I apologize if I sound like I'm just rambling:

1. I absolutely called it when I said weeks ago that the premise of the fight was that Eggman acted as the aggressor while Bowser was the defender against Eggman's conquest.

2. I want to wag my finger at the guy who came to the conclusion involving the Phantom Ruby. Because while it is true that the Phantom Ruby's illusions are as a result of one's perception being manipulated, it's not mentioned that the illusions themselves exist in reality itself when one is under the control of the Phantom Ruby. I can accept the Wonder Flower being a better reality warping item, but that is pretty disappointing what they said about the Phantom Ruby.

3. One nice piece of detail that I thought was genuinely sweet was Bowser protecting his minions while struggling against the effects of the Phantom Ruby. That, alongside him getting angry when Metal hurt Jr, was like Death Battle's way of conveying that Bowser genuinely cares for his troops as much as they are loyal to them.

My apologies for rambling, but those are just my initial thoughts about the episode as a whole. Overall? It's an easy 10/10 for me, and I'm not afraid of saying Bowser vs Eggman is now one of my favorite DB episodes of all time.

I've only skimmed Sonic pages on here, nothing Mario.
Does Eggman + his army beats Bowser + his army on here?
Yes. That's probably what will create the most friction.

Sonic scales higher here than most other scaling circles due to the site ecosystem and other shit.

The DB community thinks it's a coin toss, super debatable.

My main guess was that with the Death Egg turned into a block shortly before Eggman got Team Rocket'd into it, it could be assumed she was still in it and got transmuted

We see Sage in the post fight cutscene which, better than having one of the kids die.

Plus I don’t actually think they gave bowser a way to properly interact with her anyways

Run for the hills, Ganon bros...

My main guess was that with the Death Egg turned into a block shortly before Eggman got Team Rocket'd into it, it could be assumed she was still in it and got transmuted along or she couldn't get a proper adjustment or there wasn't anything around she could effectively use to counter in time...
She's shown alive at the end......probably plotting something
And they forgot she had BFR too
Interdimentional travel

Once again, the Phantom Ruby is vague and contradictory in Forces itself and Bowser can be argued to have his more potent hax readily available compared to Eggman. Once again, the debate is literally a coin flip so I don’t think neither the researchers/Ultraguy nor Death Battle were trying to actively screw over Eggman.
I will say the Phantom Ruby not having Reality Warping is legitimately wrong, but it's a minor point ig

I mean death battle was never going to list every ability for every troop in the army. Sage could warrant an entire death battle herself in terms of research.

Both sides have several options for dimensional travel and BFR so It would likely just be stuck with all the other hax abilities the two sides had.

They didn't. They mentioned in a black box that the Koopa Troop had dimensional travel, so they could've escaped Cyber Space.
Sage seals people inside Cyber Cages, tho... It's not just BFR. And when you break the sealing, you get corrupted.

I am gone for good now, btw. I was just still receiving notifications from quoted posts.

Did they even give a reason why Sage would just give up or how Bowser deals with her if he can't kill her? Or did they just give up?
No, but it's also implied with the ending card that Sage is just plotting rather than giving up so she likely plans to do something just not immediately. They likely have arguments on Bowser dealing with her however they simplified the results about her to more of a minimum due to Bowsers lack of tech to hack + sheer numbers and possibilities resulting in her plan efficiency being limited for the current battle at hand. My bet is they did that so that they didn't have to argue on actual child murder which I don't think anybody here should really be complain about lol

been a while since i checked out frontiers, but do they become unconscious when trapped in cages? Cause they could just teleport out and it wouldn't break the sealing

nah child murder is peak

They become digitilized inside the cages, with their bodies and essences stuck in Cyberspace while their souls are in the cages.

THAT WAS HARD AS F×CK BRO!

Been like a solid hour since the episode, but had to drop in here for like the second time ever and say that episode was absolute peak commentary, peak visuals, peak composition, peak music, peak voice acting, peak animation, peak color design, peak character design, and most of all, peak entertainment.

I don't know much about these two when it comes to scaling them, but I know it's heavily debatable on either side so I refuse to get caught up in the argumentation of who would win.

I loved both these series as a child so just seeing them go at it in such spectacular fashion was all I needed. And man, was that COOL!

Genuinely the best animated episode of Death Battle... Ever? Like, is that a hot take? Maybe I am forgetting something but I am like confused at how good that looked. It looks EXTREMELY professional. It's dynamic, it's fluid, it's everything I'd want from a fight animation. I saw some people complaining that they didn't use every single power up and form--- BUDDY WHAT?? They both have like a million different things dawg chill out this is 1000x more than what I expected, personally.

By the way, the kids survived at the end too. That's peak. So much love in this one.

10/10. Shoot me!
