Suggestions for improvements (New forum)

If somebody knows of a very useful and high-quality, but not too extensive, anime emoji archive, that does not contain any offensive content, feel free to link to it here.

As I displayed with the cropped screencapture above, we can likely make do with the emojis that we have already though.

Well, plenty of Discord servers have them
One could even just download the images manually
But I think it'd be better for the community to go a bit on all media, focusing only on anime emojis can be considered a disservice to those that are fans of other sorts of media in the site.

Well, video game and other high quality entertainment emojis are probably fine as well.

I think that will likely be hard to efficiently export to a XenForo format. Please remember that we have to pay our system manager for his work time with improving this forum, and that we barely break even with incomes and expenses for this forum currently.

What format does it need to be in, exactly? If they need to be certain dimensions and file types, then they could be prepared that way before given to him.

I am not sure honestly. I think that there exist pre-created emoji archives though.

However, DontTalk suggested that I should create a news and announcements forum thread in which our members can suggest good and inoffensive entertainment emojis featuring iconic characters, of which we then select the best ones, instead. That is probably a better idea, but it will have to wait until later, as it is not an important topic to get done in comparison to other tasks.

Actually from what I see, quite a few people here are using emojis.

so I don't think this emoji should be prioritized

but indeed for the sake of a better development, whatever we have to do, and also, I don't really know what you mean by anime emoji

You should be able to change your nickname once on the wiki, if you have not already. I actually don't know if you can do so on the forum.

Oh yeah, I also have a little question
Can we change our nickname? and how?
In the wiki you can only do so once, and do it on your own, so you need to be extremely careful.

In this forum you ask me or AKM to handle it, but we will only agree if your wiki and forum accounts have different usernames.

It must be due to that your wiki username is different from the one that you use here.

The part on your profile that says "viewing thread" should have an option to be hidden because literally anyone could see what you are doing and that may make some people uncomfortable tbh.

Very big fan of this idea. That being said, the option does exist; It just. doesn't work, for some reason? I have both options unchecked and yet my online status and currently viewed threads are still visible.

Well, when I clicked on Coolboy6's username, I saw his last activity here, but not when I clicked on yours, so to me the function seems to work.

Users that changed their username should have their previous username visible below their current name.
It makes tracking of who's who easier.
You can already easily check this by clicking on their usernames, and then on the backwards rotating clock arrow.

Then something weird is definitely going on, because a friend of mine was able to see my activity just fine and mentioned it over Discord (not to mention that I can also see my own activity when I go to my profile).

Apparently only staff members can do that right now.
Hmm. I will ask our forum system manager about that as well then.

This has probably been mentioned and it'll be a bother, but ideally, it would have been amazing if there was a way for thread starter to bump a thread without adding a post. Maybe by clicking an icon that refreshes every 24 hours based on server time.

I don't think that seems realistic. My apologies.

If you make a post, then delete it, do people still get a notification?

It's annoying that you can't put commas in tags. It makes certain characters like this impossible to tag in threads as the comma will immediately split any word the comma is in-between. It also makes it so the discussion function in the page unusable because you can't spell the character's name in a tag. Look at this thread for example

Simon and Seeker of Secrets tags is split due to the function

Yes, I know. I have had serious problems with this as well, for Warhammer 40,000 tags for example. However, I think that our system manager mentioned that it is a built in function of XenForo, and not something that he can affect.

I can ask again though.

Edit: I have done so.

In the meantime, I would strongly suggest that you and others simply remove the commas from all such tags. Instead of "Warhammer 40,000" it should be "Warhammer 40000", for example.

I received some replies from our system manager:

"You can disable your online current activity by using this option.

User Activity.png

This option should work. This is a tested default feature from XF core.

You and AKM can test this.

Updated username display options. Now all members should be able to see the previous usernames list.

For the tag URLs: This will be used to uniquely identify this tag in an URL. It may only contain a-z, 0-9, - and _. Leave this blank to automatically generate it.

Only those characters are allowed, nothing else. There is no option to change it as this is set to default. XenForo follows a strict Search Engine Optimisation URL policy."

I currently have my forum activity display disabled. Can the rest of you still see the latest pages that I visited here anyway? I would appreciate your help with this.
