The novel describes Kratos as needing to grind them into dust to prevent them from reforming. I am aware this is secondary canon, but I am using this to make a comparison. The finishers/hammer serve a similar purpose, the guide describes this as "finishing them off" and that the hammer has "extra power" to "easily smash them into pieces."

It gives a similar impression that this hammer and finishers simply achieve a level of damage beyond what normal attacks can inflict. Even in the hammer gif above, you can see the O button spinning above the skeleton, he's ready for a finisher and nearly dead, but even more hits from the hammer do not fully finish it yet.

I agree it's slightly muddy, but that seems more likely to be a result of game mechanics than an unmentioned negation. The guide describes why the hammer works in place of a finisher and decides to address the fact that it can smash them into pieces. The book speaks to a similar framework even if it's represented differently. I don't think the theory of negation is solid enough to warrant indexing, the damage threshold has its own bumps but it seems much more natural given the information we do have. Significantly so.

I still think there are problems to have with the conclusion.

If the Hammer smashing them to pieces was why it can easily kill them, then why does the guidebook tell us that Kratos's blades can, as per the text, be "effective at breaking to pieces" and still need a finisher to or the hammer to legitimately end them. It feels contradictory for the damage to be described as the same and for both to have different effects.

But I do see it being far more plausible now, that Kratos is simply reaching a damage threshold to end these pests rather then posses an entire full on ability to end them.

I understand that issue, but despite the similar description the book is expressing that "easily smashing them to pieces with extra power" is why the hammer kills them. The fact that the swords "break them into pieces" must be considered distinct from this despite being similar.

I don't disagree that this is a bit awkward, but the negation stance is IMO a fair bit more clunky in terms of what kind of assumptions and mechanisms are involved.

However it seems like we more or less have reached a common understanding.

We have a visual shot clearly showing Penny is moving Amity up slowly. We also know it's not even in free fall, as we get multiple shots across the entire conversation that shows this. The idea it's bad animation is a very poor argument, they would need actual evidence in order to prove this. They cannot just claim bad animation by itself.

Assuming there is no other force acting on Amity is wrong. There is no counter against this and the assumptions used in the calculation have no basis. We can clearly see and measure the speed Penny raises Amity and it's very unimpressive. The screen's movement is not usable, as the distance there is exaggerated and is not meant to be literal.

Amity would only be a few hundred meters off the ground if it was. And the numbers on the screen are not usable either as they aren't labeled as anything. We cannot make up assumptions for them. There is clearly another "force" acting on Amity, though we aren't certain what the Gravity Dust is doing.

Maybe it's providing upward thrust enough to match Remnant's acceleration via gravity to keep Amity in place, or maybe it's nullifying gravity like Ochako's Quirk, or maybe it's only lowering gravity's acceleration by a certain amount? Regardless, this also means my calculation is wrong as well.

Even for LS, as we don't know what the Gravity Dust has done to make Amity Levitate.

I've already explained everything I needed to in the blog's comments. I'd rather not get involved with RWBY on this wiki if I can help it.

hi monk, could you help me on oden vs kaido? theres this panel and they are saying oden is shivering bcs of the boro breath even tho that wouldnt make sense since

Why did Boros hit her 100 times before she could react when their starting points were 4 km apart and it took him more than Tatsumaki's perception to hit him once first? That meant that Tatsumaki could still do something slightly before Boros moved towards him.

Yes, the answer in the link you sent is what I thought. Recon1511's answer you sent is that if she can respond in time. She will be able to block that attack. But if it wasn't then it would have been a blitz and I'm still confused as to why Boros was able to blitz her when she was able to react before Boros could reach her.

I'm sorry if this bothers you, but this is really questionable. When you say that Boros can blitz Tatsumaki when she can still react before Boros gets to her.
