Why are attack animations taken seriously?

Treating Sephiroth as Solar System level based on visual flair seems ridiculous to me, considering he doesn't demonstrate anything else even comparable and the rest of the Final Fantasy VII crew is being scaled off another attack animation. Same goes for supposedly Dwarf Star level Neku from TWEWY.

You don't know a lot about Final Fantasy or JRPGs in general, do you? The Ultimania Guidebook explictely states that Summons and some Limit Breaks are done by transporting the opponents to pocket dimensions where the attack happens.

Meanwhile there are games like the Nipponverse, where the Special Attacks and their Animations are literally canon because the game has no 4th Wall.

We also have shit like Guilty Gear characters using their Special Moves in the Canon Drama CDs, and they have the same effects as they do in-game.
