Re Zero Discussion Thread: Season 3 is Real

"Jiwald may seem easy to dodge due to it travelling in a straight line, however it crashes into the target at the speed of light."

Vincent:
I think you have misunderstood what is happening here. Sphinx is using a technique to extend swords of light out from her fingertips like claws. Naturally, when they extend and retract they would do so at light speed but otherwise they would be restricted by her swing speed.

She doesn't chant, so it is difficult to tell if it was Jiwald or El Jiwald, but the quote doesn't suggest she used the light sabers either, it just says "The ten white lights that had attempted to intercept Abel".

Ascertaining that, the final remaining Sphinx quickly readied both of her hands, produced ten swords of light from each set of five fingers, and this time, she attempted to mince up Subaru and his friends for sure.

Because of that, she did not even realize that she had taken her eyes off of the one person whom she absolutely should not have taken her eyes off of.

Vincent: [――Come forth, Yang Sword Vollachia.]

A quiet, yet dignified voice, one reliable to an aggravating extent, sounded upon Subaru’s eardrums.

No matter the tumult, no matter how many people were present, no matter how harsh a battle was unfolding on the battlefield, that man’s voice would always unquestionably reach its desired target.

That was the kingly caliber of the one who stood atop all others, shouldering the destiny of guiding their way.

As if to prove that, dazzling the eyes of all those present, providing a red illumination was――,

Sphinx: [――I thought you were not supposed to have that in your possession.]

Vincent: [Fool. ――Never once have I said that I had relinquished the Yang Sword or any act of the like.]

Only, the treasured blade of crimson which he had not drawn once, no matter what hardship had stood in his path, merely for the purpose of drawing closer the opportunity for victory in this moment, he now drew out from the sheath of the sky.

And then――,

Subaru: [This battle of trickery, is our win.]

Vincent: [The stratagems of my two strategists. ――You have underestimated them.]

Bearing the pain, Subaru took pride in their victory, and Abel took pride in the victory of the capabilities of the strategist who was not present here, the one who had devised the plan that had made even the Witch firmly believe that Abel had lost his trump card.

――The next moment, with Yang Sword in hand, Abel kicked off the ground, and leapt.

That was the dash of one who possessed definite strength, incomparable to the Abel up until this point. As the owner chosen by the Yang Sword itself, he was propelled to a dimension befitting that status.

To be precise, as if the world was being illuminated by sunlight, Abel forcefully raised the treasured sword overhead――,

Vincent: [――The Yang Sword cuts what I decide to cut, burns what I decide to burn.]

Sphinx: [――――]

The flash of crimson ran diagonally, and without any resistance, it burned away Sphinx’s ten white lights that had immediately tried to intercept Abel.

Please elaborate
it is "likely" that the buff alone was not enough to block the perception blitz because then he would have just started blitzing every other character in his tier via just that, which means a major part of him being able to block/parry the attack was due to his skill/instinctive reaction

I see. Well, that's not true though. It's a purely defensive reaction speed buff. It would have no bearing on whether he is actually able to kill them. Besides, he has never used it beyond in ex 4 to defend against Cecilus and Balleroy who we know would both blitz someone like Elsa.

Anyways uh, Arc 8 Chapter 61 stuff
Is Valgren just fodder now? Or is it the Corpse Soldier rule of them being weaker when more heaviky controlled? Halibel called it troublesome & needed to split into 4 to effectively kill it, but now a bunch of Shudraqians together can destroy a head, and even Ram could behead it with El Fura?

I know it was a planned countermeasure, but it's so weird to see a Dragon that gave Young Wilhelm significant trouble get defeated so easily, even if the anticlimactic nature was sort of the point of its presence in the chapter.

Yeah, I have no ******* clue what the deal there is. It has to have been placed under more control and weakened.

Rams magic is dura neg confirmed? (a bunch of people who massively upscale from a 7A value being able to destroy a low tier 6Cs head seems to make sense)

Don't talk shit on my goat Holly... she gets on a Volume Cover while Fraudwaal doesn't.
She got her shit rocked by Jamal man 😭
Anyway trust the process, next chapter will say Ram had released 3 or more Shackles for a brief moment thanks to Cor Leonis + Pleiades Forces... surely...
Next chapter Tappei is gonna say Goz is stronger than SphinxDona.

Thinking about how in terms of pure power, Rui isn't far behind Kafma, and yet Rui is matched physically by Sphinx despite Sphinx mentioning that the Flow Method is limited when you have a Mana-based body, which means that Ryuzu Meyer may have been an untapped transcendent warrior lmao

This has been established since way back in arc 4 considering just three of the clones without even any proper combat training were enough to beat Roswaal in hand to hand combat. And I'm pretty sure a group of them held down Garfiel too.

Well, Roswaal’s physical capabilities seem like they've been retconned a bit but either way it has been clear for a while they are strong.

Made a CRT for Divine Blessings

Yang Sword Vollachia is a blade that can be unsheathed from "the sky" at the wielder's whim, and it can selectively cut & burn whatever it pleases to nothingness, even light, shadow, or souls— and it enhances its wielder to superhuman-levels of strength even if they have never trained or seen combat.

Fiend Sword Murasame is a blade with such an insane cutting edge that every swing cuts through the world itself, slicing as far as the horizon, and it can cut the "point" of any object, phenomenon, or concept to make it vanish— shown so far to work on Curses, Contracts, scents, soundwaves, and soul/mind control.

Dream Sword Masayume is a blade that is sheathed within dreams themselves, stated to cut things beyond the logic of the world similar to Murasame, and it has shown the power to exorcise Spirits from people's bodies— it may be from Cecus' skill, but it was shown to allow him to one-shot an opponent that could literally face-tank his strongest attacks.

Dragon Sword Reid has hype and basically nothing else 🙏

Life Sword Zeam is genuinely useless 💀

zeam HAS to be the weakest sword of "power" i have seen 😭

So it seems that Yorna appears older than Priscilla despite being chronologically younger is because Yorna's body is rapidly aging in an attempt to match her soul.

Interesting detail, completely in line with Infantilization and furthers the Re:Zero Weird Soul Agenda.

doesnt this implie that Roswaal would also start looking older over time?

Ok, the Dream Sword Masayume is INSANELY busted, I'm shocked that it's second to Murasame in all honesty.

Very rough MTL of it's ability from Arc 8, Chapter 64;
The sharpened swordsmanship of the sword was filled with a sword spirit that reminded Cecilus of death. ——The nightmare ending created by this single-minded devotion will not be tolerated by Masayume, the Dream Sword.

The "Fiend Sword" Murasame is a magical sword that severs the concept of the "point" of all things.

On the other hand, the true value of "Dream Sword" Masayume, which sheathes dreams, is...,

"Eating dreams, and making dreams come true."

In exchange for the motivation of the wish to be fulfilled, the sword possesses the sword power to make the wish come true.

Therefore, the "Dream Sword" has been given the name of "Shomu", which means "the dream that becomes reality", and has been described as a sword that, depending on the owner, can become a namakura (dull sword) or a magic sword that can even sever the world.

In return for fulfilling wishes, the "Dream Sword" has passed through the hands of people who have forgotten the reason for their passionate desire, and has changed owners many times over the years, but now it is in Cecilus' hands.

It was a miraculous coincidence for both Cecilus and the "Dream Sword".

Because...,

"My dreams and motivation will never run out!"

This is the reason why Cecilus Segmunt is the master of "Dream Sword.

The unparalleled thirst for dreams that he has harbored will bring out the full potential of the "Dream Sword" Masayume.

——A moment later, a flash of light cut even the boundary between dream and reality together.

Maybe we'll get a hint of Dragon Sword Reid's ability in a flashback to the first two times Reinhard has drawn the blade— before he fought Cecilus or Theresia.

Honestly for Reid to be declared the greatest of the Ten Enchanted Swords at this point, a lot of this must be way more literal than first thought.
There is a weapon called the Dragon Sword.

Renowned blades there are in the world, but none more famous than it.

Sacred blades there are in the world, but none more holy than it.

Enchanted blades there are in the world, but none more magical than it.

It is held to be the strongest, the sharpest, and the most beautiful in all the land.
Such is this heirloom of the Dragon Kingdom of Lugunica— the Dragon Sword Reid.

It is said to be an enchanted blade that has drunk the blood of the thousands of dragons it butchered.

It is said to be a sacred blade, bearing a Divine Blessing bestowed by the Sword God himself.

It is said to be a blade thoroughly honed, forged by an anonymous swordsmith, and the finest steel tempered by the finest skill.

The Dragon Sword wants nothing for tales and legends, but the truth of its history remains obscure.

Only one thing is certain.

The Dragon Sword Reid is the strongest in the world, and the same is expected to be true of its wielder.

Thus, only the Sword Saint may take the Dragon Sword in hand, and only the most fitting enemies may ever behold it.

Once the Dragon Sword is drawn, defeat is no longer an option.

Only this truth, so extraordinary it seems a legend itself, comes down to us, in a line unbroken from antiquity.
