Overlord General Discussion Mk.IX

idk it kinda makes sense as they still have a will of their own and aren't mindcontrolled but they are forced to do as he says but it also depends in verse on the mental resistance of the ones it affects

yeah he does but things this wiki has as seperate powers could in overlord go under the same type of ability/ and the resistance you need to avoid it accordingly

was going through some misc stuff and found a rough little list by Maruyama ranking the Guardians' skill in hand to hand (lot of stipulations though)

Their strength in hand-to-hand combat (tentative) is as follows. However, this list supposes that there are no buffs [bafu] and are not equipped with even the minimum amount of magic items, and also they are ranked higher on the list even if the prospects of victory are 1% higher.

Serious [honki] Sebas > Cocytous > Aura > Shalltear = Sebas > Demiurge ┬╗ Solution ┬╗ Ainz ┬╗ Narberal.

so with the emphasis of serious, does that mean that first Sebas entry is just like, casual Sebas?

Could refer to transformed Sebas, as the two other physical mainline fighters have no mention of their possible transformation (At least for Albedo) affecting their combat strength, only Sebas.

wait a minute

why don't Sebas have Immortality

pretty sure Maruyama has said that heteromorphs don't have a lifespan

Because Ainz is undead, he is immortal. Because Demiurge is a devil he is immortal. Rather among the Floor Guardian class only Aura has a lifespan. I have a hunch Aura's is if I remember correctly, 1,000 years. Sebas as a matter of fact is immortal. The setting was heteromorphs fundamentally do not have life spans.

here it is, though i assume he also means Mare when talking about Aura, unless something about being a druid makes you immortal or something

why isn't albedo in the hand to hand combat list ?
Because Albedo isn't ever going to get a fight in Overlord. Ever.

kinda hoping we get enough info to make a decent profile for PDL

according to a tweet from Maruyama he's the "natural enemy" of Shalltear and Ainz

so prob uses fire or holy stuff a lot, though it's prob both

we prob won't even get PDL himself, just his armor

but he has a Guild Weapon, so that might even things up slightly

In that case we could make a profile for him, but have a key for his armor and make the dragon key unknown.

i'm pretty sure the armor is just straight weaker then him/lower levelled, so his dragon self would have at least higher AP and Dura if it isn't shown in the Volume

and if the armor counts as equipment, it should share his resistances

i'm just expecting the nuke attack's aftermath to not be described at all, or very short and vague

that, or it's too powerful for anyone to scale to

Call this just my crazy skepticism, but it won't be something as dumbly simple as just holy or fire.

Or at least, it may be far stronger than any holy attack or item we have seen so far. Shalltear is called Ainz's natural opponent and she:

Makes his summons a detriment and useless.

Is based around outlasting the enemy, terrible against a Mana User.

Is a physical fighter that can still deal damage even after losing her Mana, unlike Ainz (normally).

Is wholly immune to instant death and a lot of status effects like the stupify of Grasp Heart simply by being undead.

So thinking that PDL is their natural enemy just because of Holy element is a little.... Bland.

i mean, in the bad end story, didn't Shalltear take fire damage despite being immune to it, which obv ****** her up?

so it may just be something simple but powerful against Undead

although, she also said she couldn't cast spells after it happened...

so who knows, maybe it's a holy nuke with magic null

Hmm... Perhaps piercing immunities of which Undead have a metric ton, or indeed power null.

Some juicy had like that on someone else sounds nutty.

or Maruyama forgot Silent spells were a thing, because Shalltear mentioned that after she tried talking, but her throat was burned

would be an interesting combination though, holy or fire attack that bypasses immunities + power null

PDL armor prob won't last long, its best feat is withstanding a scratch from Shalltear

and as we know, in Overlord when you're unarmored or unarmed, your attacking power and durability goes way down, so the scratch prob didn't do much anyway

the Guild Weapon he has is prob gonna slightly even the playing field though

In that moment― Countless Bullet Bugs flew over from the side. There was no doubt that it was Entoma.

He did not even need to use his High Tier Physical Immunity to stop it. That was because non-magical ranged attacks could not harm Ainz.

Would it be logical to say this is the kind of ranged attack protection Cocytus was referring to that all the Guardians have as well?

or safer to take it literally at his word it's a blanket resistance to ranged attacks?

iirc, the guardians have protection from all ranged attacks weaker than their level. It's described differently from the passage you cited, so it's possible that you're meant to take it at his word.
