Kars Novel

Why is it that humans choose to blind themselves the moment things cease to make sense?
~ Kars
Summary
Kars is a major character in the light novel JORGE JOESTAR. After his defeat in Part II: Battle Tendency, he escapes his eternal banishment in space by boarding the 1985 spacecraft Giotto and sending it to Mars. As time went on, the effects of Enrico Pucci's Made in Heaven would activate and reset the universe thirty-six times, sending thirty-six other Kars and Giottos to Mars. It was in the thirty-seventh universe that he meets astronaut Funnier Valentine. They make an agreement prior to the events of the story that will send Kars back to Earth and give Dio Brando the power he needs to also become the Ultimate Lifeform.

When Kars meets detective Joji Joestar and encounters Dio, this occurance between Dio and Kars had already happened in another universe. Kars then rebels against Dio for the sake of human ingenuity being something beyond him.

Intelligence: Supergenius (Capable of understanding concepts such as Stands, Parallel Worlds, and Heaven in seconds; knowledgeable on almost every living organism and their limits. He had easily and quickly determined that Joji and Dio were singularities when he determining Dio's plans and weaknesses with the Passion.)

Weaknesses: Nothing Notable | Whitesnake Ultimate has to create physical contact with a target to extract or put in discs. | The more Das Boot splits into individual submarines, the less power a single Das Boot can give | Nothing Notable | The World Ultimate can only stop time for one hour; it can be countered with some other forms of time manipulation (i.e. Time Acceleration) or someone else aware of Time Stop | Nothing Notable | Killer Queen requires direct contact to place a bomb. Killer Queen can only create one bomb at a time. The primary bomb cannot detonate in a vacuum. | Kars must be between two objects of any kind in order to travel to another universe. | Made in Heaven Ultimate's time acceleration slowly increases over time and must constantly accelerate in order to reset the universe.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • The Ultimate Lifeform: Upon achieving perfection, Kars' DNA changes drastically. His DNA is flexible, being able to convert and evolve in any way, shape or form. His Body Manipulation has become so advanced he can manipulate parts of his body to give birth to completely different organisms. These said organisms could turn into anything biological on a whim, despite any size or power difference, by his will and do as Kars pleases. This usually goes to the extent that he transform his arms into wings and fly.
    • Conceptual Understanding: If Kars finds himself facing a concept or ability that he has not seen or been able to used, it takes just a little exposure before he "understands" this concept and is capable of using it as his own, usually far beyond the capabilities of the person or source of the concept. This is how he gained so many Stands within the story.
  • Whitesnake Ultimate: Whitesnake is a large, black-and-white humanoid Stand. Its body is covered with horizontal lines of KARS all over its body and has three distinct heads. It's likely to use melee attacks alongside its ability.
    • Discs: Whitesnake Ultimate can generate discs from other living beings in two formats: Memory Discs and Stand (the soul) Discs. Memory Discs can be read and see the memories of the target, and Stand Discs contain a Stand or soul of the target and can be used to obtain and use said Stand and its ability. Kars can insert the Memory Disc and Stand Disc of anyone he could obtain it from due to his nature.
    • Blank Discs: Since Kars is the Ultimate Lifeform, he is capable of exporting a likely infinite amount of Stand Discs of his own, usually ones that are blank. These blank Stand discs would enter a body as nothing, but the body would still attempt to register it as a regular Stand disc, which causes the deterioration and breakdown of the affected body.
  • Das Boot Ultimate: Das Boot Ultimate is a submarine Stand that takes the shape of one large submarine with various missile launchers on its sides and underside that it attacks with. It can split itself into other, smaller Das Boots that independently act on their own.
    • Intangibility: Das Boot can insert itself inside other objects and use its missile to attack specific parts. Its missiles are precise enough to either simply destroy objects outright or only destroy specific parts of an object (i.e. a human brain)
  • Dune Ultimate: Dune Ultimate is a large Stand composed entirely of Sand and a grinning head with sharp teeth. When using its ability, it usually has its head(s) form around the shapes it shifts into.
    • Sand/Earth Manipulation: Dune Ultimate uses any available sand within its area, or simply the amount of sand its composed of by default, in any way it pleases.
    • Sand Body: Much like Dune's original body, Kars can also use sand to make it up to 98% of his body composition. This can make him mostly unable to be harmed.
  • The World Ultimate: The World ultimate is a large, yellow humanoid Stand with cog designs on its fists and air tanks on the back of its body. It is personalized by a K on the chin of it. It uses melee attacks.
    • Time Stop: The World Ultimate's main ability is to stop time, allowing itself and Kars to act within the duration of stopped time for up to an hour.
  • C-Moon Ultimate: C-Moon Ultimate is the evolution of Whitesnake Ultimate gained from the Stand Arrow. It has the same three heads as its previous form, but has an arrow imprint on the main head's forehead.
    • Gravity Manipulation: C-Moon's gravity manipulation is somewhat different from its J-Universe counterpart. It only affects gravity on it and an object of its choice. This was used to bring itself and Dio outside the walls of Great Britain.
  • Killer Queen: Originally the Stand of Yoshikage Kira, but was stolen from him by Kars. It is a tall, muscular, pink humanoid Stand with cat-like features and skull decorations all over its body. It attacks by using melee attacks, but only activates his ability by pressing its thumb down similar to pressing a detonation switch.
    • The First Bomb (Transmutation): By touch, Killer Queen may charge any object as a bomb. If a charged object is touched, the charge travels from that object into the whole of a target before exploding and destroying it completely. Kars may also detonate the same bomb again at any previous point. However, only one bomb can be maintained at any given time.
    • The Third Bomb (Bites the Dust): Unlike it's J-Universe counterpart, Kars can simply activate Bites the Dust whenever he wishes to. A bomb is placed on a target and blown up similar to the primary bomb's functions. The instant they are blown up, time will reverse from an hour prior. Everyone BUT the victim (and ultimately Kars) will have no memory of the happenings of the moments in reversed time. The bomb can be undone at any time when Kars wishes.
      • Fate Manipulation: After being blown up once, no matter if the victim and the target encounter once again, the target(s) will be bound to blow up again, but this time time will NOT rewind, not unless another target triggers Bites the Dust.
  • D4C Ultimate: Short for Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Ultimate, it is a blue-and-pink humanoid Stand with insanely large, curved ears. It uses melee attacks in conjunction with its ability. The reason why D4C's ability works so well is due to the concept of gravity.
    • Parallel Universe Creation: When D4C Ultimate travels through parallel universes, it is actually creating new universes with distinct timelines of its own similar to the "root" universe, or the universe that contains Singularities (one thing that only happens once in a universe). These parallel worlds are considered as "not real" and meaningless to the "root" universe, but still coexist alongside it once made.
    • Dimension Hopping: When D4C Ultimate and Kars are between two objects, Kars can hop between one of many parallel worlds created by D4C Ultimate. Anything can be used from doors, water, or even steam to travel to another world. Even if Kars has a partial amount of him able to travel, he will still be able to take his entire body with him. Kars can also take other people in these parallel worlds or move them to another one.
      • Merging: When Kars takes an individual and takes them to a parallel world, Kars can cause them to meet their parallel selves. If they make contact or get too close to each other, they will begin to crumble and pull each other into one another, creating a Menger Sponge, and completely obliterating each other from existence. This rule does not apply to Kars himself.
  • Made in Heaven Ultimate: Made in Heaven Ultimate is the evolution of C-Moon. It has the same three heads as its previous form, but is now a half-humanoid half-horse with speedometers decorating various parts of it body.
    • Time Acceleration: Made in Heaven will begin to slowly speed up the flow of time throughout the entire universe, affecting everything within it except for living organisms. The effects are slow at first, but eventually time will accelerate at Infinite speeds. This extreme rate of speed is fast enough that Kars can bypass or not be affected by abilities such as time stop.
    • Universe Reset: Eventually, the speed of time will reach to the end of the universe itself, and then it will be recreated. When the universe resets, no matter what happens in the previous universe, a completely different timeline and universe is made. This has gone to the extent of instead of having seven continents in the first universe, all land is formed together as a Pangea continent in the thirty-seventh universe.

Thresh DarkStarSkin2

The mind is a wondrous thing to tear apart.
Summary
Sadistic and cunning, Thresh is a restless spirit who prides himself on tormenting mortals and breaking them with slow, excruciating inventiveness. His victims suffer far beyond the point of death, for Thresh wreaks agony upon their souls, imprisoning them in his lantern to torture for all eternity.

Powers and Stats
Tier: Low 2-C

Name:
Thresh, the Chain Warden

Origin: League of Legends

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown (Several hundred years old)

Classification: Wraith, Spirit Jailer

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Immortality (Types 1 and 7), Regenerationn (Mid-Low), Skilled sickle wielder, Chain Manipulation, Empathic Manipulation, Can rip out and absorb people's souls and can absorb the souls of those who have recently died, True Flight, Dark Magic, Forcefield creation, Intangibility (This also applies to his sickle, chain, and lantern), Darkness Manipulation, Can increase his offensive and defensive power by absorbing souls, Time Manipulation, Gravity Manipulation, and the ability to create and manipulate Black Holes and Dark Matter

Attack Potency: Universe level+ (Consumed the Void, an entirely separate universe located outside of space-time which is stated to be infinite in size, Has destroyed entire realities before, Stated he has the capacity to consume time, space and reality)

Speed: Infinite (States that to him space is no impediment, time is an illusion, and infinity is confined)

Lifting Strength: Multi-Galactic (Can lift a black hole and swing it around with his hook, His head alone is as large as a galaxy)

Striking Strength: Universal+

Durability:
Universe level+

Stamina:
Limitless (Due to being undead)

Range: Universal

Standard Equipment: Several hook-headed chains, Spirit Lantern, Scythe, Starting/Essential Items (Talisman of Ascension, Boots of Mobility, Zeke's Herald, Ruby Sightstone, Warding Totem, Health Potions [3])

Intelligence: High (Skilled in combat, A master of physical, mental, emotional, and psychological torture, able to exploit even the slightest vulnerability to maximum efficiency, to the point where he can torment living books, magic mirrors, and sentient spells with casual ease)

Weaknesses: Has a limited supply of mana with which to cast spells, his spells have cooldown periods, during which time they cannot be cast (Both are highly exaggerated in-game for gameplay balance purposes; for instance, Ekko is shown to be able to use his ultimate ability in rapid succession in his cinematic)

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Basic Attack: Thresh swings his sickle at the opponent. Despite being a ranged attack, Thresh's basic attacks do not utilize projectiles, and his basic attack wind-up is only reduced by 0.25% per 1% bonus attack speed, rather than the standard 1%.
  • Damnation: Thresh collects the souls of dead enemies by approaching them or by placing Dark Passage's lantern nearby. Each soul permanently grants 0.75 ability power and bonus armor. Champions and large enemies always drop a soul, whereas small minions and monsters only sometimes drop a soul. Only enemies within a certain distance of Thresh drop souls upon death. Souls are visible to allies, and only become visible to enemies if their team has vision of him. Souls disappear if not picked up after 8 seconds.
  • Death Sentence: After a 0.5-second delay, Thresh throws out his chain in a line and tethers himself to the first enemy hit, dealing them magic damage and stunning them for 1.5 seconds. Upon hitting an enemy, Death Sentence's cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds. While the tether persists, Thresh cannot attack and periodically tugs on the tether, each time pulling the target a short distance toward himself. After 0.5 seconds, or instantly if he hits a minion or monster, Thresh can reactivate the ability to use Death Leap while the tether holds.
    • Death Leap: Thresh dashes to the bound enemy, removing the stun but allowing him to attack again.
  • Dark Passage: Thresh throws his lantern to the target location where it remains for up to 6 seconds, revealing its immediate surroundings and shielding the first ally to come near it for up to 4 seconds. If an ally right-clicks the lantern, they pick it up and dash to Thresh's location. If Thresh moves a certain distance away, the lantern automatically returns to him.
  • Flay: Thresh's basic attacks deal bonus magic damage, increased with the time he spent since his last basic attack. When activated, Thresh sweeps his chain in a broad line towards a target direction. Enemies hit take magic damage, are knocked in the direction of the chains, and are slowed afterwards for 1 second.
  • The Box: After a 0.75-second delay, Thresh summons 5 spectral walls around him that last up to 5 seconds. Each wall breaks upon contact with an enemy champion, dealing them magic damage and slowing them by 99% for 2 seconds. Once a wall is broken, the remaining walls deal no damage and slow for only 1 second.
Thought this might be an interesting matchup, so why not? The Ultimate Lifeform vs the Cosmic Devourer. In character, no prior knowledge or prep time, speed equalized if necessary. Who wins?

kars IMO due to the range of his powers and his conceptual hax of not only mimicking but obtaining an improved version of an ability he witnesses

Would he survive getting a barage of Universe level+ destroying black holes throw at his face or an intangible scythe ripping out his soul?

he could replicate the attacks and make ultimate versions of them

and he also has numerous ways to ignore durability as well

the point here is that he can do pretty much everything his opponent demonstrates especially considering his opponent is only universe level+, and kars has replicated and created ultimate versions of such powers before

If Bites the Dust has to make physical contact with the target for it to work then probably not

the way bites the dust works is like it hides inside a body, and is activated when the [user's] identity is revealed/known by a target, others who can see the stand would also be afflicted and killer queen enters into the eye of the target and erases them from existance in an explosion

@Azzy Yeah i just thought it had to based on its description:

"A bomb is placed on a target and blown up similar to the primary bomb's functions."

WeeklyBattles said:
@TLT But would it work on someone who is passively intangible?
it should, no reason it shouldnt based on what we know about this stand and its ability, once seen, it blows up the target

the way it works is for example if it hides in hayato's body, so if someone like rohan finds out about the user's identity or if someone sees the stand, then the stand does its job of erasing the target from existance

...Would it work on someone who doesnt have eyes? Because DS Thresh doesnt have eyes...

Iirc, Kars' BtD is instant and doesn't need a host. If he can't, he could always just hop away into another universe with D4CU.

Kars can physically touch intangigble beings, straight up grabbed Killer Queen out of Kiras body and ****** with Das Boat taking it apart.

Okay... Where did universal thresh come from? Absorbing the void? When was this stated, why is it assumed to be a feat of pure power and nothing else, and why is it not considered a massive outlier given that literally no other league character short of Aurelion soul is above street tier. Hell you can't even really get feats for them.

Secondly, infinite speed? Really? Because of a statement? That's never solid proof.

@Cynical You...do know that Dark Star Thresh is IMMENSELY more powerful than regular Thresh right?

"and why is it not considered a massive outlier given that literally no other league character short of Aurelion soul is above street tier."

Have you read... any of our pages for LoL?

I'm completely aware. And yes I have read the pages. That's an entirely different can of worms I won't get into.

My point is, his stats are based on one iffy feat and a statement. If only all characters got treatment like that. I understand having an "amped form", but usually they have concrete feats. We have so little information about the void as is. The profile just feels messy.

@Cynical The dev team stated multiple times that when designing DS Thresh they were creating a character that would destroy the universe, and if you actually did look at the profile (Or even the easily checkable stats in the OP) You'd see he has solid justification for his tier

So a WoG quote. If that's the most concrete evidence you can find, it's likely you shouldn't use it.

And I have read the profiles. Even then... None of that is really solid evidence. Even if we were to assume he is universal, the reasoning for the speed is nonsense. A simple statement? Come on.

Nonetheless I'm just throwing my two cents in. I personally don't feel league characters should even be debated due to their high lack of feats for the most part.

Dark Star Thresh is universal for the same reason that Dreadnova Gangplank is planetary. Skin canon can supercede main canon feats.

This is Gangplank's R ultimate as displayed in Skin Canon. It is clearly not 'street level'.

If Riot says Thresh is universal, then he is.

┬®Riot Games

What a ride it was making this splash, very challenging and abstract. It was fun trying to imagine the end of the universe.

Riot Employee confirms that Dark Star causes the end of the universe.

@Cynical

And why does it matter if it's only a statement?

Statements are evalulated on a case-by-case basis. Dark Star Thresh is not an arrogant character, so he has no reason to exaggerate about this.

There is also an in-setting reason why Thresh can have scientific infinite speed aside from only his own statement. The word 'Infinity' is used even by the dev themselves in their dev blog dedicated to him.

The black hole Thresh creates is one of the closest ones to a real black hole among fictional black holes on this site, largely because creating real black holes is Thresh's intended portfolio (just like real stars is Aurelion Sol's). It is created by manipulating gravity, and has a distinct 'event horizon' and 'singularity' that is also acknowledged in one of their behind-the-scene documentaries by a major Riot employee.

Escaping from true singularity as Thresh does regularly requires an infinite speed even for non-matter things. It's not very different from how escaping the gravitational pull of Aurelion Sol's stars from its center would require near-relativistic acceleration, and qualify as a speed feat (if any character in LoL displayed such a feat. Perhaps Star Guardians).

If it was only the black hole feat, then it's more difficult to constitute an infinite rating, but when taken together with his own statement that infinity is confined, they support each other and we have more basis to maintain them.

Also, the devs themselves explain that they purposefully gave him strong statements to make him stronger. They are also not related to gameplay.

We were working with huge ideas - concepts bigger than the Milky Way. Making that look cool on a much smaller scale was beyond complicated.

To finalize Dark Star Thresh's voiceover script, the skins team collaborated with a few writers (PBE release was, at this point, six weeks away). Boondingo then spent the day at a nearby studio, recording the voice-over with Thresh's original voice actor and a voice director. After this session, Boondingo listened to the recording and evaluated the delivery of the lines, choosing the strongest versions.

These features are unrelated to mechanical gameplay, so animator Drew "sandwichtown" Morgan used them to further Thresh's destructive, omnipotent persona.

At worst we can just add 'Likely' to the current rating and most of us would still be using that Likely rating in a battle between Universal cosmic characters, or simply equalize speed. Such characters already have intergalactic MFTL+ speed anyway.
