It is not a suicidal self-destruction, Godzilla has a lot of energy accumulated in his body from absorbing the nuclear bomb and Mothra's life force, in the movie it was stated that he was going to explode because of that and not because he wanted to kill himself

Even if Meliodas get damaged from GZ heat, he can regenerate. High ranked demons heal pretty fast. Estarossa recovered from cruel sun. Chandler, Cusack and zeldris recovered pretty fast too.

I think either Meliodas resist the heat with darkness or gets damaged but recovers

It worked on natural lightning and darkness we agreed on other threads that FC can work on non physical attacks. (Can reflect magic attacks and amplify them. Meliodas has also shown the ability to reflect non magical Darkness and Lightning)
