General DC Comics Discussion Thread

Could someone elaborate on why Darkseid is still not Outerversal despite this?

1) the cosmology revisions are ongoing and Williamson's works haven't yet been codified into a full cosmology to begin with

2) No one has made a Darkseid CRT since the comic came out

3) You'd also have to explain what you think is outerversal about it (I also don't know which tier that refers to.)

Yes, fans often want to squeeze as high statistics as possible out of their favourite verses, and since Marvel and DC have long histories, attempts to prove that can easily turn into contradictory messes.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind at all if we talk more about recent storylines instead.

1-A.

Well, doesn't Death Metal contain two or more 1-A characters? Furthermore, he also negged the Spectre.

Sorry. You're leaving a lot to the imagination here. What does Death Metal have to do with Darkseid? Why is Spectre relevant?

Nothing outer here

Still no Outerversal

Death Metal if I am not wrong contain 2 1-A characters, and Darkseid exists even beyond that?
Why is Spectre relevant?
Because he is 1-A? Am I getting something wrong here? Does existing beyond/negging a characters of a certain tier not imply they are at the very least in the same tier?

Darkseid true form isn’t outerversal here and he being at the end of all things would also make him outerversal.

Existing outside of two Outerversal characters is not Outerversal?
By the outerversal characters I think you mean phantom stranger, High-father and The spectre. This characters aren't outerversal here also and spectre outerversal key is him merging with Oversoul not his base key plus Spectre is shown to be many(many spectre exists as shown in his comic run and can fight and merge with one another to get stronger or prove dominance) that shows all of them varies. Another spectre even once tried to absorb spectre Hal Jordan and also Spectre power varies according to the power he draws from god/the presence.

Death Metal if I am not wrong contain 2 1-A characters, and Darkseid exists even beyond that?
I refuse to believe infinite frontier darkseid is stronger/powerful than TDK or Golden WW.

So far highest we can scale current darkseid to is The Empty-hand since he can damage and tank hits from him and Empty-hand being outerversal would only possibly refer to the key of him being one with the great darkness.

Someone showed me these comic panels of what seems to be The Writer, who is referred to as "God" in this instance. Comic is Animal Man Volume 1 #5.

Could this potentially mean that "The Writer" is not above God, but rather an aspect of it? Hell, the cover of this comic is what we use for The Writer's image on our profile for them. The DC wiki itself considers this being to be The Presence (Who they use as a catch-all for DC Comics God similar to our own God profile). I'm no expert on DC cosmology stuff, I just wanted to know if we already knew about this.

The images aren't loading. But in general, yeah, the Animal Man run has been dissected pretty thoroughly. I don't think there's a solid basis for connecting the Writer profile to the Presence, and there's a strong argument to be made for deleting the Writer's profile given that so much of it is based on speculative rather than substantive feats.

Superman, although I prefer Batman’s comics to Superman’s.
Yeah that's a good point. I like Superman as a concept better, but I tend to think Batman comics are better written. Superman writers have trouble going beyond the same generic thematic messages and "big space punch man." Not without exception of course! But I think generally the bog standard batman comic is more readable than a comparable superman issue.

I also really love Superman as a concept when handled properly, but Batman has had a wider range of great stories featuring him in both comic books and cartoons, yes.

I personally strongly agree with this, but my arguments have kept being rejected whenever I have tried to get it removed, and have limited time and focus available for prolonged debating.

Superman, personally.
Who Tf likes superman more than the batgoat, superman is too predictable and nice kinda gross in a way.
As a character, I like Superman more, but I do think Batman tends to have the more interesting stories.
Tf
For me it's deffo Supes, but Batman is up there on my list of favorite comic characters. Their dynamic together is also almost untouchable imo.
What's wrong with you all

do you guys like Superman more or Batman more?
personally i like both

For Superman I like it because it depicts the power of hope itself and is generous and also dares to take risks to fight evil

for Batman, even though he is only an ordinary human, he is a fighter against crime and defends justice to protect his hometown

Agreed.

Anyone in dc who is omniscient

also lex is a villain guys, I know that but doesn’t he have a point about supes. What if one day supes snaps there’s no one on earth excluding other powerhouses that can stop him (looking at you injustice)

yeah all it takes is one bad day and supes will kill us all.

Not really. Multiple versions of Clark have shown that they can go through events like that and keep their morals in tact. Also, Injustice Superman went through way more than just "One bad day".

Absolutely not. Injustice Superman is not, and never will be, an accurate depiction of what Clark would do, and there’s two quotes that sum it up pretty well imo.

To quote Grant Morrison; “I think the idea that Superman would react to the death of Lois Lane by becoming a tyrant is ridiculous; my mum and dad died and I didn't become a tyrant. If I can handle it, Superman can handle it.”

And to quote Clark himself in Action Comics Vol. 1 #900, “Do your worst, Luthor. Do it forever. I won’t break.”
