I like how they could have just gone through the window and floated down with Steven's levitation powers, but they wanted a stupid watermelon episode.

Even assuming that they would be unable to break through the window (although I think they didn't do that cuz security and stuff), Steven could have possessed any sleeping human on Beach City.

But hey, we have years watching this show we are used to it, hype is meanless since 60% of the show is filler,so I have no expectations.

I do not think it that small, maybe for Steven since he is fat. And yes, he could have shapeshifted, although the only time he shrink in size wasn't intentionally.

Steven was able to become bigger and only started to feel any side effects hours later, I legit don't see why Stevonnie becoming smaller for a few seconds really would be that hard, specially when Steven has been getting better with most of his powers since then. Honestly, I think Stevonnie just got the Araki virus and forgot they could do that.

Considering that she did forget that she can float and crashed against the ground I would say she forget it.

I mean, sure, the song was overhyped and we were all expecting something bigger, but the episode itself wasn't bad. I feel like there was plenty of symbolism, foreshadowing, and parallels to unpack and at least we got to see the Watermelon Stevens again. It was just overhyped by a mixture of poor marketing and a crappy schedule. Kinda like a lot of the show tbh.

I ignore most of the forums about this show, why was people hyped about this episode? It wasn't bad, but it was kinda unnecessary... like much other episodes.

Honestly, I wasn't even expecting anything from this episode, I just like nitpicking; I want to get to Battle of Heart and Mind already, this episode just honestly feels like something that I had to go through because it was in the way, it started and then it ended, and that's about it, I didn't love it, I didn't hate it, it just happened, and I really have no strong opinion about it.

The lyrics for the song in it were leaked really early on in the show's run and the fanbase had been hyping the song for years expecting it to be something huge.

Neh, I rarely get hyped, much less by a song; and also missed that leak (or perhaps just ignored).

People were hyped because of the song; the song was revealed a few months ago in an event, and the fandom went mad trying to find out who would sings it and what it meant for the character who sings it (some people guessed Lapis, some people guessed Jasper, some guessed Pink Diamond, etc.). Turns out the song just plays in the background while a watermelon writes in the sand XD

I thought the episode was pretty decent. The way that basically the whole episode had to be told through context clues due to the lack of speaking was pretty interesting. Also, hot damn do his mind powers have some range or what?

Well, there have been a lot of rumors that Steven might lose one of his eyes, so they'll definitely keep with Star Wars' tradition of losing body parts.

Is not rare that those with access to the Astral Plane has massive range, since thats a metaphysical plane, distance is meanless and sometimes the time do not run at the same rate as the real world's.

Oof. Actually, gonna give that a double oof.

@Antoniofer Yeah, but now it's confirmed for Steven. TBH he already had a pretty decent range with it as it reached Malachite at the bottom of the ocean and the Watermelon Steven's on Mask Island, kinda weird that it wasn't already on his profile TBH.

Frick, now I'll have to watch Star Wars episode 9, Rey fights a kid with a shield.
Isn't Episode 9 already confirmed to be titled Black Diamond, because that coukd be seen as an SU shout out already.

Also someone needs to teach me to be able to fall asleep in 3 seconds flat like Steven can. I NEED THIS POWER IN MY LIFE!

> She bails on her responsibilities as a diamond and the colony so she can live a life of relaxation and laziness

Did you forget about her discovering the worth of life on Earth and not wanting it to be destroyed by the Gem's ruthless empire expansion?

She is a morally grey and complex character, but there's nothing botched about her backstory.

And there is nothing wrong with feeling sorry for Yellow and Blue. Acknowleding that they mourn a family member while also acknowledging that they have a totally different ethical system to us is fine.

Honestly, the fact that Now We're Only Falling Apart so desperetly wants to do damage control to make us side with Pink Diamond is the one reason I removed Steven Universe from my favorite verses, because **** you, if you made a garbage character, then you made a garbage character, you can't fix that by trying to fit a bunch of rushed exposition in 11 minutes.

That wasn't damage control.

You're not supposed to be totally on her side or against her.

She obviously did some really shady things, and Pearl too, but I feel like you're going out of your way deliberately to hate a fictional character when it doesn't call for it.

And - even if the show did want you to hate Pink Diamond and question every decision she made - that wouldn't make her a garbage character.

Yes, it was damage control, and yes, they want you to side with her, you can tell that by just watching the episode, and if that wasn't the intention, then the Crewniverse did a really shitty job trying to get their point across in that garbage episode, so it's crap either way.

"How dare Pink Diamond rebel against her tyrannical homeworld and side with the defense of life on Earth."

Bearing in mind that if Pink hadn't taken the actions she did then all life on Earth would have been wiped out, Pearl would still be a slave and Steven would never have been born.
