Eh....that's a very fair point, I'll admit. I guess I just feel like that now a days it has less to do with limits vs limitless, we know by now that Goku has practically limitless potential and growth in battle just going by the ToP, and more to do with one character being beyond the other in a number of factors.

Though, now I think about GvS1 and 2, it makes me wonder if the Death Battle team will receive any hateful comments or legit death threats as a result of doing this match up. Not suggesting it will happen, and I hope it doesn't, but I imagine there are some crazy folk out there that would take this far too seriously.

Okay. I have actually seen DBW Goku vs Lois and Clark Superman and Dragon Ball (pre Raditz saga) Goku vs Smallville Superman. Also Goku vs Sonic.

What could the season 10 finale be?
Also would Death Battle actually have a sprite fight for god demon mother father Goku vs Superman 3?
Or they want a sprite fight for a Season 10 finale if GvS 3 is having 3D models?


They are at least having a Season 11 so the budgets are still there.

Goku vs Jin, Goku vs Sonic? Nah have Goku take the L a third time to the same character despite already expressing the view that he will never win, when DB fans express discontent, call them toxic.

They did the same thing in Flash vs Quicksilver. Everyone was complaining how stomp it is only for them to say that Quicksilver has advantageous on his own lmfao

I get ya but it's hard for me to easily accept that, because the writing is on the wall due to DB's own lines of logic. Part of what makes ANY Vs Battle fun is not the outcome but how they got to the answer. Usually, at least. (Looking at you Omni-Man vs Homelander)

It's about the journey, not the destination. When you already know that and it's the THIRD time, it's hard to be neutral, let alone positive. Plus, if DB sticks to their logic from previous episode then all three GvS follow the same logic: Goku is strong but Superman is beyond him.
 
Yeah I think that I'm getting a little too conspiracy like and cynical for my britches, especially with the admittedly unnecessary comment about death threats which I do apologize for sincerely, so I just want to talk about Rick vs the Doctor and my thoughts:

All in all? I think it was a great episode. There were some things disagreed with like Rick having more destructive weaponry or not acknowledging some of the Doctor's crazy asf amps or artifacts, but the animation was very well done, the references to Who, Rick and Morty, and even other DB episodes were pretty damn good, I'm satisfied the Doctor's optimism and hope beat Rick's nihilism, and the music and voice acting was pretty great. So I think that this might be the first episode of the season I would give a 10 if it wasn't for my disagreements, but a 9 should suffice.

But what about the rest of you guys and gals? Ignoring GvS3 for a just a minute here, what were your thoughts on the Doctor vs Rick?

Pretty cool episode, I know nothing about either series but it was still fun. Always love it when the hopeful beats the downer, like in Alex vs Cole.

It doesn't work here because Goku vs Superman already happened twice. Bill vs Discord happened once and respected both of the characters. No need for another one.

If Superman wins it's just kicking Goku with a 0-3 when he has other MUs.

If Goku wins, then it's a pity win. Even if Goku woops Superman's ass in the fight animation despite losing, it will be seen out of pity.

The normal operating procedures with Deathbattle don't work here because they're rehashing a spite battle that happened twice. A battle that will end with the same result. Death battle has already shown their cards and intentions with the match up.

Though i do agree the fight animation will be better.

Well done, all in all. To expand on my previous thoughts, I really like who they portrayed the Doctor. I'm not into Rick and Morty so I can't comment there. But I love how they made it so that the Doctor never initiates any attack. They defend and outmaneuver, setting traps for Rick to fall into. Also, the Doctor never drops their cheerful attitude except for when they stumble upon the Weeping Angels. It gives you a real sense that the Doctor was ALWAYS in control of the fight which makes a lot of sense with DB's reasoning in the conclusion.

The Weeping Angels bit is also my favorite part because they tell Rick to blink at them. It's both funny and scary.
 
It’s gonna be hard to top the first episode outside of research, ESPECIALLY without the existence of clips, the fight graphic, the standardized length of the animation which hasn’t been beat TO THIS DAY. As much as I want an update to the research of this matchup, GvS2 really soured that for a lot of people. Current DB is too corporate and too scared of copyright to utilize the format to the fullest potential.

Well it seems there viewing this as a revamp of a legacy matchup than a continuation of there older content, there's no way they would just do this if there wasn't going to be some sort of surprise, maybe Goku will have genuine advantages over Superman, maybe Superman won't take the trio stats who knows.

The issue with both of those episodes is that(especially the 2nd one) treated them with major disrespect, call this blind optimism rather than loathing pessimism but if Ben is genuinely happy with the outcome of this production then there's gotta be some faith, don't give up everything yet.

p.s even if Goku doesn't win if he's given the most respectful and epic fight of DB(and I mean even more than Discord) that made it felt earned then it can have the potentional to be great)

Yeah that's my view.

This is being done for views, since otherwise it's a lose-lose situation. Superman wins through higher universal/dimensional scaling and gets another win or Goku win but everyone will treat it at a pity win for DB.

It'll be super popular no doubt, but it's going to be the saltest of salt mines.

Dude, I agree with that so much. I myself can have some cynical views on parts of life, but I wouldn't let that override my ability to feel hope and the love that I have and can feel for those around me.

This might be just a tad bit personal but, if I could vent just a smidge, there was a point in my life a few years ago where I was institutionalized twice as a result of two attempts at taking my own life as I was in a horrible mental state and just felt like there was no hope for things to be better and that I should stop it all there at that time. I got better from that incident and was able to find hope when I thought it was gone, as I realized that the darkness can be overwhelming at times but there's always going to be light at the end of the tunnel and that I would find joy in life once again.

It probably sounds very sappy to hear, but it's why I enjoy Alex vs Cole and Who vs the Doctor because I can appreciate and relate to those who still remain hopeful and kind even in the darkest of days like Cole and the Doctor are able to be.
