Actually some brief rupee and item collection sound effects can be heard when Link smacked some pots, implying he was indeed getting items from the pots, meaning he was actually robbing from the slum church.

As for the DBX, the fight animation was fine, but Ringmaster and Boomstick's interactions where absolutely amazing. I pity anyone who just skipped to the fight animation.
