Condolences to the family and members involved in the attack on Kyoto Animation

Considering Anime, in general, is rather fairly large on this site I thought it was only natural we extend our condolences to the family and members involved in the Kyoto animation attack.

For context

"Kyoto Animation, one of Japan's most popular anime studios, was reportedly set ablaze this morning in Japan. A man in his 40s was allegedly seen pouring a flammable liquid and setting it ablaze. He is currently in police custody.

At around 10 am, residents living near the studio called the police, saying there was the sound of an explosion and that smoke was emitting from the building, which is located in Kyoto's Fushimi area."

as of the recent update over 25 workers have been confirmed dead and several more missing, this is an absolute tragedy.

For those of you unaware Kyoto Animation was responsible for many huge anime hits such as Lucky Star, Clannad, K-On!, Nichijou, Violet Evergarden, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, full metal panic, A Silent Voice and many more.

This is extremely sad. It was mass-murder perpetrated against innocent and harmless non-political entertainers who had made many millions of people happier with their work, including myself, and for extremely petty and idiotic reasons according to what I have been told.

I pray that everyone is safe. I have great concerns for not such the animated works, but also for the countless innocent women in children of Japan. And this also hits me hard, given that Kyoto is what imagined to be the most beautiful city I could think off; and is the primary homeplace of Nintendo and Miyamoto being the primary reason.

But regardless, terrorists attacks like this are despicable. May the people there be watched over from above.
 
It won't even be a simple jailed for life sentance like I'm accusomed to (Canadian), since the death penalty is widley enforced for mass murders in Japan (it's like the largest mass murder in Japan in almost 2 decades). Add the fact that its an attack on a company and form of media cherished worldwide...

Man.. Its going to be an emotionally painful and exhusting experince for everyone.
 
It should be noted that animators in Japan are usually barely scraping by in term of finances to start with, and (unlike western media celebrities) they seldom seem motivated by trying make an ideological impact, just by attempting to entertain and make other people happy, and then something like this happened to them. This is absolutely horrible. They absolutely deserved enormously better than this.
 
Worse still people are actually targeting KyoAni and defending the burning because of the "Serves weebs right" mentality and actually complaining about poverty being a bigger issue. For ****'s sake, two wrongs don't make a right, both are bad and 33 people just died in agony.
 
Yeah, even that W word is starting to be considered a racist slur at this point. Anyone who's actually been to Japan knows that it's full of really good people and there's nothing wrong with people outside of Japan valuing animation or media of any kind that comes from that Country. Yes, there are plenty of annoying Anime fans, but not all of them are and many of them are much more open-minded and friendly.

Still, absolutely nothing makes a terrorist attack justified.
 
It's honestly rather ****** knowing that such a company who has made these animations, most if not all of which we are all familiar with even if it's by name and at least heard once about, only to get an attack from someone with who knows what even is their damn problem is about.

While I never personally watched any of the stuff they made, mainly due to being out of sync with old and new anime these days (getting around there now with one, however), they shouldn't get something like this happen to them when all they're doing is just making these animes for people anywhere and around the world to see them.

It's saddening for the families of those who lost their lives, and sickening for the guy to do such horrible act. Condolences to their families and hopefully they'll be able to recover from this, even with such losses. Terrible news to hear and see on Twitter for me on my dash...
 
The guy was just insane, there isn't any point in focusing on him. I just hope he gets properly punished.

The most we can take out of this is probably that work and security conditions in Japan are very bad. Workers rarely have unions and companies will often try to cut on costs at the expense of them. I heard there wasn't good evacuation plannings either, and that the building lacked stairs and emergency exits. Let's just hope this manages to make more people aware of this issue.

On a more superficial note, there are rumors about Fire Force getting delayed over this.
 
How awful!, time and time again we're reminded how fortunate we are for the little things in life such as: safety, security, anime etc. Knowing that senseless violence can strike at anytime at any place it can be unnerving but we cannot give into fear instead we should show compassion and wish the family/friends of the victim's to live fulfilling lives, not just for themselves but for those they've lost...
