I was planning a Reinhard vs Gilgamesh match, but then I realized this might be much more fun.

Rules:

Fate/Stay Night Gilgamesh.

Both have basic knowledge of eachother (ex: Ainz knows Gilgamesh has a treasury of very powerful weapons. Gil knows Ainz is a powerful spell-caster and has ways to kill him).

In-character, but are serious about winning. Speed equalized. Win by death, K.O, or when the other can't fight/surrender.

(We can change the rules at any time to make the fight more fair)

Match takes place on an indestructable Earth.

Ainz Ooal Gown's profile

Gilgamesh's profile

Ainz Ooal Gown
Gilgamesh Gates Of Babylon

Who will win?!? The Overlord, or the King of Heroes?!?

Edit: Ainz can now use Wish Upon A Star at any time, since Gil got upgraded to Planet level.

Was just reading this same battle, on reddit. Moving on, can't say I know much about Gilgamesh other than he has more magic weapons than he knows what to do with, and one worldbuster[?]. Bit more familair with Overlord, having read the Light Novels up to vol 10.

Won't drag out the quotes, but I'd have to give it to Ainz. Vol 9 shows he has the capabilities for time-stop magic. Coupled with 'The Goal of All Life is Death' - a skill that renders any anti-death things useless - and one of his many insta-death spells, he can pretty much stomp. Especially if we give him access to his guildmate's weapons [shown in the anime finale], or the world items in Nazarick.

Both of their profiles are listed on the top.

Anyways, that's 1 - 0 in favor of Ainz.

Note: Gilgamesh has time stop resistance and in-general, pretty over powered magic resistance with his armor.

Edit: Yes, his strongest weapon, Ea, has the potential to destroy the world.

Yeesh, that'll be pretty hard to counter, I'll need the Nasuverse experts on that one.

Anyways, you vote for Ainz-sama?

At the moment, yes. Unless someone can come up with a valid argument for Gil against Insta-death spells, which Ainz has as a passive with chance to activate iirc, I'm with Ainz.

Where. Did. YOU READ THEM? Did you order them online or something? I need to read Overlord...

As for the fight, as much I love Gil, he's gonna die to Grasp Heart, or Cry of the Banshee or Wish Upon the Star among others. Going with Ainz.

For reasons stated above Ainz-sama wins. Gil prob won't use EA games anyway. Too overconfident.
Gil is serious in this fight, but 3 - 0 anyways.

Ah this is a tough one. Gil has a pretty high magic resistance so there's that. Also Ainz's insta death spells are pretty similar to Lancer's Gáe Bolg which always strikes the heart no matter what.

Going from the fact that Gilgamesh is the oldest hero, he posseses every treasure and weapon ever created. All Heroic Spirits have things they were weak against in life, their greatest weak points, and he possess all of the Noble Phantasms, including those that countered each hero. So I'd say that the probability that Gil has a NP capable of stopping insta-death effects is pretty considerable.

@Gemmysaur stated that those insta-death spells of Ainz have a chance to activate, a probability if I'm understading correctly. Gil's Luck stat under both Tokiomi and Kirei is A and Saber evaded the Gáe Bolg while having a luck stat of B under Shirou. She does have her instinct true, but we can compensate given that Gil has an A rank luck.

So if Gil's high magic resistance is useless, in which case someone please explain why, I'd say he has a good chance of avoiding insta death effects.

Also since OP stated both combatants have a bit of knowledge and Gil knows Ainz is a real threat, what is stopping Gil from blasting with Ea from the beggining?

Most of Gil's weapons would be unable to do significant damage to Ainz, with the only real danger here being Ea, which takes a while to charge.

On the other hand, Ainz's serious spells are strong enough compared to Gil's durability that despite the latter's resistance to magic, he would still take quite a bit of damage from Ainz's attacks. And then you have Ainz's summons, instant death spells and Over Rank magic.

Going with Ainz here.

Well Saber has blocked magic from the Age of Gods and Gil's magic resistance is close if not higher than that.

He can also just move around in his Vimana for a couple of seconds until Ea is charged.

I mentioned his Luck stat that will help him against instadeath spells, any answer for this?

Also Gil has Harpe, the Immortal Slaying Scythe which has the divine ability that nullifies the "undying attribute" of immortals, undeads and the like. Since Ainz is an Overlord, a high tier undead, he is gonna be reduced to nothing if Harpe touches him.

EDIT: Not to mention here Sha Nagba Imuru, Gil's Clairvoyance. It makes him extremely perceptive of magecraft, tell the exact number of spells a magus is preparing just by looking at them and accurately assessing his opponents' abilities.

Isn't Saber's magic resistance A-rank though? Gil's profile says his is E to C. Then you have the difference in tiers (Island level AP vs Mountain level durability) and Gil's magic resistance only helps him to not die in one hit.

Ainz can fly too, you know. And even if he manages to charge Ea, it wouldn't one-shot Ainz. Only if he charged it to full power, which is something he really wouldn't have the time to do. Vimana would be destroyed before he got the chance.

Yes. Most of Ainz's instant death spells don't rely on luck at all.

Sorry, but why would Harpe erase Ainz? You just said it nullifies the undying attribute. That doesn't mean it erases immortals.

Yes Saber's has Magic Resistance higher thanks to her Class. But Gil obtains it from his armor.

Ea has destroyed the world before you know, also Kiara's Noble Phantasm which made her grew larger than Earth. Going by the novel, charged Ea doesn't take more than a couple of seconds. Also Vimana has self defending mechanisms installed thanks to Gil's Gate of Babylon.

The Luck stat makes the Hero avoid death the higher the stat is. As I mentioned before with the Gae Bolg example.

He used Harpe on some undead familiars once and they got reduced to ash thanks to it's ability. And going by logic, isn't Ainz an undead type? If we remove this attribute, doesn't he amount to nothing? A no longer undead skeleton can stay fundtioning after the spell that made him un undead stops working.

I just want to say, in a previous vs debate, someone said that Gil's Ea is planetary at full power, and apparently there's actual proof in Fate/Strange Fake, when Gil fought Enkidu.

I'm just saying what someone else said in a previous battle, I don't know if this is true or not.

Anyways, 4 - 0(possibly 1?) in favor of Ainz.

Yeah that's me :)

Edit: Let me search for the bit, I think I have it around somewhere.

Gilgamesh's magic resistance with armor is actually superior to Saber's, IIRC.

And it's likely that Gilgamesh has more than enough options to protect himself from Ainz's hax with all the things inside the Gate of Babylon. Nasu implied that he had something capable of countering something as obscure and lethal as Tsubame Gaeshi's Dimensional Refraction Phenomenon, so I'm sure has options for many other things.

Besides, High 7-A is a lowball for Ea when it's his strongest Noble Phantasm and he has country level weapons in the Gate of Babylon. That's without taking the planetbusting implications into consideration. If Gilgamesh uses Sha Nagba Imuru, too, he'll know basically all of Ainz's options and will react accordingly.

I put the translations in a spoiler tag to save space

In this moment, Gilgamesh was unleashing this power against a single Hero without hesitation. It was not for fun and games. The King of Heroes discarded his trademark pride and attacked with no reserve. On the Earth stood the Hero Enkidu. This strike was a greeting to the one and the only Friend of eons past. It was a hymn that represented his glee of meeting Enkidu again, as a King, a Hero, and as the Friend.

"O EA, SING WITH ALL THY HEART!!"

Gilgamesh was not speaking to the Hero, but to the sword in his hand. As if replying him, the cylindrical blade in his hand turned and twisted the air like a tunneling machine. The spiraling wind engulfed more air, generating a small tornado. The tornado overlapped, giving birth to greater and greater wind shear. Everything converged onto the blade, and became progressively compressed. The hyper-dense layers of gas beyond the limit of physics soon turned into an all-annihilating weapon that was devouring Space itself. Sound and light converge at the fissure, the blade spun pure silence and darkness. Gilgamesh tightly held the hilt, which was howling like a living creature. He swung at the long-parted friend he just meet without hesitation.

"ENUMA-------ELISH!"

The fissure blossomed.

The microcosm that had been compressed beyond the limit around Ea was unleashed. The pressure released buckled the Space around, the World was turned inside out by the Void. Who could believe one swing could produce such a scenery. The Void leaked from the fractured Space further tore at the Space, causing infinite cracks that further eroded the World. The sandy ground tore like clay, the sky and the clouds were shredded with ease. It was as if someone took a painting and put it into a blender. An erosion unleashed by the strike; it ground at the Earth and rushed at the Hero.

Most Heroes would not even warrant the unveiling of Ea. The ones deemed worthy by the King, even when shocked by the magnitude of Ea's power, would still meet the King's challenge. Witnessing a Hero who wielded the power of Genesis would invoke all kinds of emotions. Enlightenment, determination, terror, respect, rage, or joy. However, there was only one Hero who would feel nostalgia when facing this lump of death and void, this Hell on earth.

@Scarlet Firefly Yes, it has the power to destroy the world when it's charged to full power. I'm saying Ainz won't let him charge it to full power. A few seconds is more than enough time for that. And the Gil that fought Kiara was CCC Gil. That's not the version we're using. Actually Vimana itself isn't that useful, because unless it has anti-teleportation measures that i'm not aware of, Ainz can just teleport to it and blast Gil in the face, destroying Vimana in the process.

So the Luck stat grants resistance to instant death? Huh.... too bad Ainz can still kill him with The Goal of All Life is Death (nullifies any resistance to instant death effects).

And how powerful are those familiars? Saying Herpe can erase any undead is a bit of a NFL. And if all it does is "nullify the spell that made the target undead", then it's not gonna work. Ainz wasn't made undead by a spell, he was always undead.

@Promestein I don't think saying "oh, he probably has counters for that" is a valid argument tbh. And correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't Tsubame Gaeshi be countered hard by space manipulation?

High 7-A being a lowball for Ea is fine and all, but Small Island is also a lowball for Ainz's durability. If he has Country level weapons, why isn't that listed on his profile? From what i'm gathering here, Sha Nagba Imuru would give him knowledge on Ainz's 700+ spells, but not on their different combinations. And he has no counter for The Goal of All Life is Death.

Also, are we forgetting that Ainz has a ring that revives him? Gil would have to kill him at least twice.

Yeah, I know, I'm just saying.

I don't know. It should be. He should have Brahmastra Kundala and Pashupata, among others. He also has Noble Phantasms that negate durability and Noble Phantasms that negate magic.

Well, if he has Country level stuff then i'll remove my vote for now.

Not changing it to Gil because he can still die before he has a chance to use them.

@NotEvenHuman actually Sha Nagba Imuru gives him a lot of knowledge on his opponent. When facing him in a game like chess, he claims that even someone making advanced predictions and reading the flow of the game will have already lost at that moment. He does not read the future of the chess board, but instead gazes down upon it and oversees, allowing the correct move to always be visible to him. Even in something like a card game, the very minimum requirement to play against him on equal terms would be to draw the precise hand required.

Also he destroyed Rider's pocket dimension by unleashing Ea almost instantly and he can charge it because Ainz won't be blitzing him thanks to Clairvoyance.

The undeads were summoned by a mage during Gil's time on Earth IIRC but their power doesn't really matter since Harpe's ability comes from divine law. Not to mention it deals wound that cannot be restored by any methods other than healing in accordance to the natural laws, meaning to spells, just waiting it out.

I'm not voting for Gil either. Ainz probably haxes him out before he pulls out anything powerful enough to put him down for good.

Well considering he doesn't even bother to know what he's shooting half the time...

Not to mention he likely doesn't even know how to use it.

I see supersonic reaction time for Ainz, which will help him get impaled by everything in GoB. Does he have any resistance to conceptual weapons?

Speed is equalized mate. OP should have made the formatting a bit more clear I guess, you can easily miss the rules.

3 - 1 in favor of Ainz, I'm assuming, since 2 people revoked their votes.

I also hopefully made the rules a bit more readable.

=P

Fate/Zero Light novel version makes Ea even more broken.

Archer, with the key sword in hand, unlocked the vault from thin air. However, he did not deploy Gate of Babylon. What he took out was only a single sword.

"And thus, it was inevitable that I would be the one to block your path, King of Conquerors."

- Could it really be called something as specialized as a 'sword'?

It was a weapon of far too abnormal a shape. There was a grip and a hand guard, and its length was about that of a longsword. But the crucial section where the 'blade' should have been assigned deviated far too much from the form of an edged weapon. It was a dull blade with a pillar made of three sections lined up, and a tip which spun in a spiral shape. The three pillar sections were like querns, slowly continuing to rotate in alternation.

Yes, it was no longer a sword. Something born before the appearance of the concept that this world called a "sword" can't possibly have the shape of a known sword. It was something constructed by a God before humans. It was the actualization of the works of a God recorded at the beginning of the world.

The three quern-like cylinders, acting in concert with the movement of the Heavens, revolved as each creaked with a weight and power equivalent to tectonic movement. The enormous amount of seething and overflowing prana was beyond measurement.

"Now, know the conclusion of your unfulfilled dream. The truth shall be shown by my own hand."

Archer held his hand high above his head, and the sword of the beginning gradually increased the speed of its revolutions. Faster with each rotation, ever faster...

Rider, who perceived the threat simply through instinct, pressed on Bucephalus' reins.

"It's coming!"

He yielded the first move to Archer. That was fine. Even though he yielded it, it was just one blow. Ionian Hetairoi would trample that lonely golden shadow without waiting for the next.

That being the case, he had to devote himself to overcoming that one blow. Archer boasted incomparable Noble Phantasms; this was unmistakably a trump card only for when, in his own way, he believed the time was ripe.

Was it an anti-army Noble Phantasm?

An anti-fortress Noble Phantasm?

Or it could be an anti-personnel Noble Phantasm, and what he truly intended was to shoot only at Rider, at the head of the army, bringing him down with certainty...

It rumbled as a tornado roared, and an enormous amount of prana surged forth from the grip of Archer's sword.

"Now awake, Ea. A stage befitting you has been prepared!"

Ea - the God of earth and water from ancient Mesopotamian mythology who had separated Heave and Earth.

Called by this name, the Sword of Rupture was the primordial sword present at the creation of the world in the Age of Gods. The role the blade of the beginning accomplished - it was nothing short of that which had cut apart what had been shapeless into Heaven and Earth, what had given a definitive shape to that distinction.

And now, the rotating God sword, haughtily blowing up storm winds, would once again perform that miracle of genesis. The golden King of Heroes triumphantly shouted a declaration.

"Come now and look up - to Enuma Elish!

Heaven screamed, and Earth shook.

An enormous collection of prana was released, grinding at the laws of space.

The sword tip Archer swung down was not aimed at anyone in the first place.

It was no longer a matter of aiming at anyone. What the Sword of Rupture's blade cuts down cannot be contained to simply 'the enemy'.

Rider, driving his horse hard, saw before his eyes the fracturing of the earth, and the opening of an abyss.

"Hmn?!"

He had observed the danger that was slowly occurring at his feet, but the momentum of the charging Bucephalus could no longer be repressed.

"Hii -"

The fate of falling could no longer be avoided; Waver stifled his scream. But of course, the horse and rider carrying him right now were not the kind to be daunted by a danger of this level.

"Haa -!"

Responding to Rider's reins, the heroic horse flew high into the sky with a kick of its splendid hind legs.

It was a bloodcurdling leap and glide. But sure enough, at the end of that single instant which seemed endless to Waver, what Bucephalus landed on was firm ground on the opposite side of the fissure.

However, before he had time to feel relieved, Waver paled at the horrific state of the following cavalry.

The brigade of King's Guards, not having legs as strong as Bucephalus', could not completely cross the rupture in the earth, and fell helplessly into the abyss like an avalanche. The warhorses of the ranks further back braked at the very brink and were saved from the miserable fate of the fall; however, it was yet nothing more than the beginning of the tragedy.

"Boy, hold on!"

Reprimanding him, Rider grabbed onto Waver while clinging to Bucephalus' mane.

In the time it took the heroic horse to sense the danger and jump back to a safe zone, the fissure expanded further in width, swallowing the surrounding earth and the knights.

No - it wasn't only the earth. The cracks stretched out from the surface to empty air, distorting space and sucking in the atmosphere. The entirety of their surroundings were blown into the end of the void by a surging wind.

"T-This is..."

It was such a scene that even the King of Conquerors was at a loss for words.

The Sword of Rupture commanded by the King of Heroes - what its single strike bore through was not only the earth, but the world itself, stretching to the sky. The attack was not even something to be discussed as a matter of whether it hit, or whether its force was advisable. Soldiers, horses, the dust, the sky - nearly everything that used the cut space as a foundation was swallowed and disappeared into the surging void.

Bucephalus planted his hooves firm with all his strength and resisted the atmospheric pressure of the vacuum; even as this happened, the great plain of hot sand woven by Ionian Hetairoi cracked, shattered, and collapsed into the abyss of the void like the ending of an hourglass.

Before that one blade was swung, all things were nothing more than chaos which could not form any meaning -

After that one blade was swung, a new truth divided and distinguished Heaven, Sea, and Earth.

The released tumult of genesis was no longer in the realm of an anti-fortress Noble Phantasm. It was an irregularity that broke down not only that which possessed shape, but all of creation. That was the true form of the anti-world Noble Phantasm that made the King of Heroes transcendent.

Heaven fell, Earth broke; within the darkness where everything returned to nothingness, only Archer's Sword of Rupture shone with brilliance. The dazzling light continued to complete the destruction, like a star of creation, the first thing illuminating the new world.

Rider and Waver could not ascertain all of this to the end. To begin with, the Reality Marble they were in was maintained by the total prana of the summoned Heroic Spirits. Before the world itself disappeared, the bounded field broke apart at the seams once over half of the army had been lost, and the distorted laws of space once again returned to the way they had been.

Elbert Doomray said:
Does Ainz get the use of his guild's world items? The world items are arguably country-level, too, and possibly far above.
Doubt it. We don't know what most of them even do, and IIRC, Ainz doesn't walk around with a World Class item like the Guardians do.

No, but he is shown to bring them out if he feels it necessary. If he knows Gilga has a treasury of very 'powerful weapons', as the op put it, it's likely that he would equate them to world items and bring some of his own. At the very least, he would carry some in his inventory, or keep them nearby, as he did in the Shalltear fight.

Ainz has a World Class item. When he went to get the WCI to the guardians, he didn't pick one for himself. He has to have one to be unnafected by the Downfall of Castle and Country, that he knows about. They even say that Momon has a World Class item with him.
