DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

  • Baki Gaiden: Retsu Kaiou wa Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikkou ni Kamawan (or Baki Gaiden: It Doesn’t Even Matter if Kaiou Retsu is Reincarnated into Another World!, we’ll reference this as the Retsu Kaiou Isekai) is not canon nor officially licensed. This is an unofficial manga that was written without Itagaki’s permission and should never be used for Baki. It directly conflicts with the Baki storyline such as rewriting how Retsu’s spirit interacts with the story of Baki-Dou, despite the author’s many, many attempts at forcing his way into Itagaki’s storyline to make his work official.
And Liam more or less lied this has any canonicity to Baki to buff him to Heihachi, he better realize in actual research if they ever do Yujiro to clarify its basically fan made

Despite the manga not having any involvement from the original creator calling it unofficial is a massive stretch. Like it's being published in the same magazine, Monthly Shōnen Champion, and their publishing company, Akita Shoten, has promoted it. Like stuff from it shouldn't be counted for a verity of reasons (they're literally in a different universe) but saying it's not officially licensed is like saying GT isn't.

Even if it is actually officially licensed and all, canonicity towards main series isnt viable either way

The fact Liam alluded it to be as such was disingenous of him even if its done during a cast, that questions how they denied other stuff or accepted things for less on both fronts

Like I said earlier, I don't think the stuff from the isekai should scale. Even if it were canon, Retsu is in a different universe, and outside of his own perspective, we don't really have a good comparison point for how strong the things he's dealing with are compared to the main timeline.

Also, I myself was fairly annoyed by Liam's inclusion of the island feat too. Like, yeah, no. That's stupid.

Ramenman would unironically make more sense.
For context that's the chinese stereotype from Kinnikuman.
