Dragon Ball Super Discussion Thread 100

We have to take into account that this was still a joke at the end of the day, it’s hypocritical to say we can’t use one statement about a planet’s size because it’s a joke but then use another joke to justify the Earth of Dragon Ball being the same size as our own. And besides, Toriyama wouldn’t have been thinking about the Earth or Moon’s size when making that joke.

And seeing some of the objections to my calc which ang scales the moon, and I just wonder if we’ve forgotten that Dragon Ball does not take place in a setting similar to our own. It’s not AKIRA after all, we have a monkey boy who literally smashes people into manga panels after all.

And I say if there is any evidence to suggest the Earth of a fictional setting is not the same size as our own, it should not be ignored.

Anyone else feel like manga dbz is a bit lowballed considering all the different statement we have throughout cell saga and buu saga that points towards far greater scaling?

I dont know if raws say the exact same thing but if they do i think this is evidence enough that even average planets in dragon ball are 3x larger than our earth. this would upgrade the GBE of almost every planet destroyed so far including namek and vegeta
Here the second part of it

@Ryzen7900X Should the Super Dragon Balls be used as a metric to distinguish between moons and planets? Because using the 37,196.2204 km as a metric to make that distinction for this calc, it only comes out to giving Low 5-B results. Since we currently have beginning of Saiyan Arc Goku at 5-A, I was hoping to potentially upgrade 23rd Budokai Goku up to that too since the calc has some 5-A values and it would make for a better justification for the beginning of Saiyan Arc over just saying "he's 200x weaker than his Namek Arc key"

Also, I'm still waiting for the anime's scans on these statements

It probably doesnt affect the moons it should more so be used to up the GBE of planets like vegeta or namek and possibly earth although a low 5-B moon makes early dragon ball low 5-B/5-B

I have 2 calcs on this

One end directly calculating the super dragon balls GBE, another using this site's planet parameters site to get the GBE of a planet with that radius, gravity was assumed to be equal to Earth's (this serves as both a lowball and a kid to the fact that earthlings seen to be comfortable within a lot of the visited planets)

Gonna put it in a calc blog soon

I know there's universal statements in the buu saga (But those could easily be chalked up to being overtime, especially in hindsight either how impressive Goku and Beerus' universe destroying clash wad considered for the time it happened), but what statements does the cell saga have that could make our manga ratings lowballed? Best statement there is Cell saying he can destroy the solar system which we already accept (Although I heard there's a CRT to not scale it to his physicals anymore or something?)

It's not the statements themselves put the fact that the calc we use is too low, my own thoughts can be summed up like this:

Cell: BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!! Now I have the power to destroy the entire solar system, not just the Earth!

Proceeds to only destroy everything from the Sun to the Earth without touching Neptune, Pluto, the Kuiper Belt, or the Ort Cloud

@Dust_Collector Also too, I quickly calced the AP to destroy the Solar System from the Sun to Pluto (which would be what Toriyama was thinking of by Solar System and it’s either 92.36462631 KiloFoe using the Perihelion or 255.2724121 KiloFoe using the Aphihelion

I dont think destroying the solar system should be any lower than destroying it until neptune at least

Isnt the DB solar system also stated to be a galactic nebula?? IIRC Herms said it was wrong but he translated it wrongly as well so the raw text should probably get evaluated by the translators here

dont do it jimmy

I could see ( in near future) a group of 2000 members downgrading dragonball to planet level

Isn't that the definition of Void Manipulation?
  • Conversion to Nonexistence: The user of this ability might be capable of turning targets to nothing. This can range from only turning the matter of the target to nothing to also turning things like its energy, mind, soul, space, time and/or concept to nothing. Note that most users of this ability have not the full range of the ability. Further note that one shouldn't list a character to have resistance against this ability in total, as that requires a character to have shown resistance against every imaginable ability which can erase a target.

Nah, herms was wrong, some other translators actually corrected his interpretation of it in a better way.

Yeah, one of it applications. Check what ability is in the blue link
It's because one of the uses is this, Void and EE are very linked, and basically all 3 uses of Void mention EE.

Also some characters in the example on the page have both (Void and EE) for the same justification as Void.

Example: Super Dimentio, Monitor-Mind The Overvoid and Exdeath

So having one doesn't cancel out the other, as long as it has something to do with "Void/Nothing". Like manipulating the void, turning something into nothing and erasing it from existence.

That'd make every character with EE having Void Manipulation, which is not only completely meaningless but redundant to list the very same ability twice
There's a difference.

Erasing someone from existence is just EE.

But manipulating the void, to erase someone from existence or turn them into nothing, counts as both.

The page itself shows 3 possible uses of Void Manipulation that connects with EE.

The page also gives examples of characters that have Void and EE for erasing something from existence using the void.

So I think being "redundant" is not an argument.
