Rule Violation Reports (New forum)

Yeah, last time Fuji was reported, there were some vote splits between a short ban or just a warning, but we decided to lean towards the final warning. But she clearly is saying things that are baiting in nature, and even Glass was fairly open for the person who had plans to argue for the rebuttal of certain ability removal proposals but couldn't due to PC issues (Which I know full well how that feels). And was looking forward to them coming back to propose adding some of them back. Fuji on the other hand was straight up mocking that and there are plenty of users who have vouched her having a history of being quite spiteful towards quite a lot of users and/or fanbases.

I do agree a short ban is warranted all things considered.
The comments were made well before Glass had clarified that Vietthai would be unable to comment. I'm not sure why you would choose to exclude that.

I would be fine with such a concession, Fuji's offenses largely come from interacting with users. I'd tack on an addendum that she's not to communicate via message walls for the duration, however, as that still leaves us open to more problems.

It will, just trust me.
For now I'd appreciate if you leave discussion about punishments and what not until after I make a counter post.
Thanks, and have a great night.

Moving forward, I am of the opinon that this discussion should be handled in private. I'm sorry to hear your experiencing these type of thoughts, but with all due respect, mentioning that in the RVR, where just about anybody can see anything, is probably not the best idea. If not for the sake of your own privacy, then at least for the sake of what content/level of info-sharing is considered appropriate in the RVR.

Regardless, I suggest that a couple admins create a group chat with the 2 involved users to sort through this. Continuing this here is just going to lead to more and more sensitive info about users being slung around.

Just my 2 cents.

I think there's already a Doomfist profile. I don't know if this counts as a rule violation or not. Can someone help me?

I agree with this sentiment. I feel like Arcker making posts like this are indeed quite disrespectful and borderline misgendering is not something okay. But Metalballrun's post was clearly not something said with bad faith but only commenting that it's been so common to say they're one gender or the other while turning out to be the opposite. Arceus does appear to not have said much and only made a few jokes that weren't really intended to be directed at anyone. As for Monkeman Vs Raven, I can see wrongs on both sides to an extent, but I agree with Catzlaflame that DMs would probably be a better place to talk about that.

Yes. Very strongly agreed.

@DarkGrath @Qawsedf234 @AKM sama @Abstractions @Wokistan

Would you be willing to handle this issue please? 🙏

For the record, I personally consider it far morally worse to encourage a suicidal person to kill themself than to misgender someone in a regular manner, but I haven't had the time to inspect the screencaptures here.

Only commenting since I was mentioned, that yes, that is indeed the case (and it's obvious). I'm also stating that I'm aware Raven appears to be not reporting me but is rather just citing the comment had an unfortunately coincidental timing with the actual harassment Raven is reportedly receiving at that time.
(I've also made a non-serious comment directed at Raven, and it's probably the only instance where we interact with each other and the first time I got to know of Raven, and that was the end of it on my end).
That's all, and I hope y'all resolve this situation.

Unless I'm missing something, there doesn't appear to be any accusation being made that Raven encouraged suicide. The one comment I can see posted was just referencing the suicidality itself.

As to the main report, I am not sure what is best here. Many of the things said to Raven are pretty egregious, but I am not sure at what point they become site relevant. Perhaps the misgendering crosses that line, but I am not certain. Raven appears to have participated in some of the toxicity, but I don't think that means the case is closed as a matter of mutual toxicity, as it is often the case that people who are being bullied will lash out to defend themselves.

The on-site misgendering should be punished, certainly, and I think the response should be considerable given that users numerous past offenses and bans. As to what to do about the antagonists of Raven's report, I would have to defer to an admin who is more intimated with our new rules on off-site conduct.

Since the topic is somewhat relevant to the current report, I won't get into off-site comments since the report mainly focuses on that, but generally speaking the stances that have been recently taken over racist, homophobic, and even transphobic remarks has created what I feel is a generally unwelcoming and "safe" environment on the forums.

People have made outright terrible remarks that don't even try to hide it, like in the Arkenis post, but what's even worse is the leniency towards "it's just a joke."
When someone says something so disgusting, and they do it so consistently when do people wisen up and start to realize it's not "ironic" it's not just a "funny hahah" they genuinely believe what they are saying and are just hiding it under the guise of being a joke. Even then you can still make a joke and believe in what you're saying, there's a difference between a joke and satire, in fact there's a good quote I remember that goes like
"Satire is meant to mock those in power, if you mock someone who's hurting that's just bullying."
Back on track though, I remember when the Dread situation was happening and people were making outright transphobic remarks, using the situation as an excuse for their bigotry, saying stuff like "It was obvious they were a T SLUR from the start" or "Another one down" clearly in reference to trans people. As a trans person myself, I feel very scared even interacting with some people in passing on the site because I know of their history, and yet they remain.

Regardless, though, I'm not surprised MonkeMan has made comments like this, especially given his past behavior and actions. Yes he brought up that stuff that Raven said, but at that point if both of them are bad then just punish them both.

My point is, when do we realize that making jokes like these are inherently harmful and the people making them aren't joking, they just believe in the bigotry they're spewing and are too scared to say it outright.

Edit: I'd also like to say, this is mainly a complaint about members and how this behavior has festered. For the most part, I believe most staff members do a good job at trying to moderate and prevent this kind of stuff from happening, but so many of these people who are the problem are so buddy buddy with each other that they just vouch for each other and make excuses so they get to stay.

Can somebody in our staff please summarise what each member involved in this report (including Raven) seems to have done exactly? 🙏

Also, I still do not think that we should have very controversial discussions in public.

Apologies, Ant, I’ve just been having a bit of a day and these thoughts have been running in my mind since I’ve become a bit more active as of late. I don’t mean it as a slight to anyone really, I just want to see this community, and all communities be a place anyone can come in and enjoy their time in without fear of having personal parts of them singled out.

Regardless, I am not too involved in this conversation, I will say though if you check the “Vsbattle wiki slander” thread’s recent pages you can see MonkeeMan making some less than nice remarks towards Fujiwara and others I believe.

Thank you for at least acknowledging my question though. Have a good day.

I am not sure who precisely Raven intended to report, but I will just lay out what each member is described as doing or seen doing in the screenshots:

MonkeMan: Accusing Raven of besti-lity, accusing Raven of being a man, other negative remarks like saying Raven should be stoned to death.
LOK: Accusing Raven of being like Dread (lying about her gender), calling Raven a r----d, claiming she had a PFP of her actual face and that she was fat.
Arcker: Misgendering her on site

To a lesser extent, it seems Azontr and Arceus are being accused of participating in the misgendering/catfish accusations.

Raven has been accused of bringing up MonkeMan's former suicidality in response to one of his negative remarks, using the N word, and that she started the besti-lity jokes herself.

Hmm. All of this is serious if it is an accurate summary.

I strongly agree with the statement that suicide encouragement is indeed the absolute worst offense anyone can commit here. However, I believe the context wasn't her "Encouraging it" or at least not intentionally so. But rather, he had a suicidal phase and Raven brought it up randomly at a bad time and it came out as mockery. Still really bad, but not quite on that level of what BasedNeco did for instance.

No problem at all. I was referring to the entire report situation.
