DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

I mean, didn't a bunch of pokemon also cared for ash despite ash not knowing them I think it was the mewtwo movie
It was less that they cared about him specifically and more that they collectively realized that they were fighting for virtually no reason and that doing so lead to the unnecessary death of someone who was fighting to save them

Also gengar removing atem from yugi wouldnt...do anything. For one, doing so would just trap gengar in the millennium puzzle, and for two, yugi is fully capable of dueling on his own without atem and even defeated atem at the end of the series.

I think one real big downside that Ash has is that we don't know the abilities of all of his Pokemon.

The only one of these that can apply is Gengar since we know for sure that he has Cursed Body. We got no idea what the others have. Though considering the fact that Staraptor never once seemed to proc Intimidate, it definitely doesn't have that. The only Pokemon that we have canon abilities for sure are Pikachu (Static), Charizard (Blaze), Sceptile (Overgrow), Infernape (Blaze), Buizel (Swift Swim), Unfezent (Super Luck), Scraggy (Moxie), Leavanny (Swarm), Boldore (Sturdy), Dragonite (Inner Force), Gengar (Cursed Body), Lucario (Inner Focus), Sirfetch'd (Steadfast), Dracovish (Strong Jaw), Greninja (Battle Bond), and Goodra (Hydration).

That seems like a lot until you notice that a good chunk of these are just generic "this Pokemon gets stronger" stuff and not much in terms of hax. And of the ones that are hax-y, they're all chance based so it's not something that Ash can reasonably rely on. Sturdy is unironically the strongest ability on here but it's on f-ing Boldore of all things which makes it useless.

So is there a get outta the afterlife free card for Dante or no? DMC fans?
Yeah. Several.

1) Even when Vergil “died” (on a much greater scale than Clive is indicated to kill Dante on) he just came back like 10 years later. Dante’ll do the same.

2) Yellow Orbs rewind time to give a Dante a new life/undo his Death AND restock his Life and DT.

3) Gold Orbs just straight up revive you (and restock energy) without rewinding time.

4) In DMC5, Red Orbs can do the same thing, but it’ll cost you.

If Ash loses, I figure he will see all his surroundings get black, while Pikachu runs to him to hug him etc. Eventually everything he sees is black and he and Pikachu faint, disappearing into darkness. Cue text, "Ash blacked out". Cut to Yugi showing Ash being BFRd.

Is this too traumatizing for wimps?

Nah, honestly pretty tame

"Boldore toughed it out to not make you feel sad"
Partner Boldore goes crazy

But there's a rock monster in yugioh with that basically has Sturdy, Gogogo Golem, and Breath of Light oneshots it

I do honestly wonder how they're going to have Ash react to his pokemon straight up dying. Like, they're not going to faint like in pokemon, they are going to physically explode into nothing.

Or worse, yugi using monster reborn to bring them back to life under his control.

Or using Magical Arrow to make one of his pokemon rot to death.

The latter two seems way too extreme, especially since death battle won't try to make Yugi seem overly wicked. But if they end up doing that path, it will probably make Ash seem way more likeable for the general audience
