DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

So, what's the db ranking so far? I still got Mahito vs Shiggy as my number 1.
It's hard for me to decide a favorite, there's been plenty of episodes i think were peak even if i disagree with the outcome on some of them, but if they don't screw up this next ep, it might just be the one

Ok now imagine if DB does mention all of that in the fight, which they won't because... ******* audio CDs, bro? Really? Talk about obscure, I barely see anyone mention them. Hell, I haven't seen anyone ever bring it up on the wiki (not even on his profile). That said, 1-B 20D Simon with plot hax upgrade when?

Y'know Simon vs Kyle is giving me all the 'good waiting period' vibes that Joker vs Giorno did.

The match being debatable and down to what DB buys for each character, two characters that are loved by both sides of the matchup, decent explanations of why people think they win that also hinge on one or two singular points-

And for me personally rooting big time for one combatant while having respect for the other. Here's hoping DB can knock it out of the park.

In my opinion, Kyle's character development between his introduction and the end of Power of Ion was fantastic, some of the best in the entirety of DC comics. In fact I find it disappointing they decided to bring back Hal Jordan.

At least Liam has always been honest about his disdain for Sonic unlike others who claim to be "fans".

You would think Image Comics would get more stuff put nowadays, Spawn and Invincible are the only series from them to receive any modern stuff lately
Tbf the main appeal of Image was comic book authors having more creative freedom to explore and develop the genre without being confined by the rules, royalties and restrictions of DC/Marvel however it also comes with little to no safety nets, if your story doesn't sell you'll be out the job (Kirkman had to rush Omni-Man brutally killing the Guardians of the Globe several issues earlier than planned because Invincible was initially barely selling plus the reviews were mixed and well the shock factor did pay off in the end).

Aside from Invincible and Spawn most Image characters are actually still pretty niche (most peeps I know don't know Tech Jacket has his own comics) and it'll be a huge gamble to try to push them to be more mainstream.

The fact we're getting a Battle Beast prequel comic series years after his character arc concluded (thanks to the popularity of the Invincible TV series), says it all.

It wouldnt hurt to try more stuff with series that could be a hit, Spawn and Invincible were pushed in media lately and did well, only other works to get more media where as said Witchblade and Firebreather, should give it at least a try, if its not gonna be a hit, at least you know it didnt
