Gonna comment here to strongly suggest adding something along the lines of "We are under attack by hackers" to the top of the current pinned announcement for emphasis sake. Some users might have also missed the prior announcement regardless.

Is there any way we can contact inactive users?

Btw, is it known why they are doing this or can we contact them
Why is simple, datamining. Once they brute force your account they'll take down everything that they can from whatever data or accounts you have linked. This sounds like a blasé, thoughtless response but you'd be surprised at how profitable data brokerage can be, and how much hackers can do with a password, email, and username.

I have done so.

We might be able to send out a warning message to all registered email accounts in this wiki, but I am not certain.

I will ask our system manager about it.

However, I am not sure regarding whether or not it is a good idea.

I would strongly recommend it personally given how we're aware of them having access to accounts that have posted to this forum AFTER this very thread was made. 2FA would also strongly combat this.

I permanently banned all of the remaining hacked accounts that I could find. There have been 29 of them in sum total so far, including @Kazuma_kuwabara @Shine @ABoogieYesSir @CloudStrife00T @EmperorRorepme and @Heavens_Feel.

I extremely strongly recommend that everybody who read this follow the instructions in the first post of this thread to get stronger passwords and two-factor authentication, and inform all otheer members here that they know about it as well.

Also, if the above-mentioned members want to regain control over their accounts, please contact @DarkDragonMedeus or @AKM sama about it via Discord.

I have been informed about how I can send out a mass-email.

Would the following structure be acceptable, or should it be modified?

Hackers are cracking the passwords of accounts in the VS Battles forum

Hello.

We greatly apologise for disturbing, but we have no other way of contacting our currently inactive members.

During the last few days at least 29 accounts in the VS Battles forum with weak passwords have been cracked and taken over by hackers, so it is extremely important that all of our members visit and log in to our forum in order to make their passwords much stronger if necessary, preferably by using a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols that are at least 17 to 18 characters long, and also please enable two-factor authentication whenever possible.

It would also be very appreciated if you inform other members of our forum that you know about this situation.

Thanks in advance for helping out, and we apologise again for disturbing.

My one suggestion would be linking to this thread, and of course waiting for senior staff to comment what their thoughts are on going through with this in the first place.
I would prefer to, but if I provide any links or extreme language, the email services and our members might interpret it as being criminal spam, and it is easy to find this forum via memory or a Google search, and then this thread as it has a front page highlight, as well as a warning popup message for logged in members.

I guess it's fine for me, I originally thought linking would be good, but as you said above, it might be interpreted as spam. So, I think this is fine. But then again, I don't know how to write a good e-mail.

Sounds fine.

Okay so I uh, logged out of Fandom to change my password to then log out and then log back in but now I can't. It says that an -fduser or a -gpuser suffix was added. Can you look into this? Would be very problematic if I lost my account for such a bug.

I've noticed that wiki pages sometimes wouldn't load at all or would load become far slower in really weird ways, despite my internet being fine.

It seems to have smoothed out somewhat since I bolstered by account security.

Does the wiki version have 2 factor authentication?

Now I'm not sure if this is related.. Probably not.. But I've been on Worstgen and around the time this happened, ads started popping up there and sometimes when you click on a thread it'll open a new tab with that thread and redirect the old one to some fishy site.
Though considering this is a different method than just bruteforcing into someone's account, this might not be correlated.
Also I changed my password to be safe.

Fandom will likely fully activate two-factor authentication for their wikis very soon.

Anyway, it seems like the intended wording in my mass-email has been accepted. However, I have just asked our system manager for input regarding if I can include a link to this thread or not, without it risking to be interpreted and blocked as spam by email services.
