Death Battle Season Nine Discussion Thread (1) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Apparently dimensional scaling is reason why Wally won, but for some reason they really couldnt mention that at all in the ep itself.

Otherwise, I dont think other matches have needed to discuss dimensionality at all.

It was hinted Thanos lost to Darkseid because true form Darkseid exists in a higher dimension.

They briefly mentioned that both Scarlet Witch and Zatanna are outerverse level (what they call omniverse level whatever) therefore the easiness to exploit weaknesses become the critical point.

Yes not a lot of matchups require explanation on dimensionality. But when we talk about Shin Megami Tensei, when we talk about Digimon, basically any character labelled Tier 1 in our site - hell even skyfather level Marvel and DC characters, we need to eventually tap into this brave new world.

How do you feel about / react to the statement: King Drasil (Digimon) may actually lose to Arceus (Pokémon) without dimension scaling.
 
Death Battle appeals to Causals stuff like dimensional Tiering isn't something that can be explained so easily let alone make sense given how folks don't even know how to use it or understand it

Thanos vs Darkseid mentioned True DS just being in another universe would be enough to make it so IG cant affect him.

SW vs Zatanna technically yes, but since they were considered equal in stats, they didnt really dwell into "character X is higher dimensional than character Y".

Yeah, thinking about it, since DB avoided infinite uni statements, Gogeta might actually AP stomp Omegamon if they dont do dimensional shenanigans there. Tho HercKong mentioned infinite cosmos, so who knows what they'll use.

Same goes for Arceus stats, who knows what they'll give it, but you should kinda stop mentioning King Drasil. No one cares about that old PC yelling at humans. I severely doubt King Drasil gets in, even with Arceus carrying hype. King Yggy is quite a non-entity for DB requests.

Yeah, no clue how that works. It’s hilarious too because Wally vs Sonic was meant to be the DC-killer episode, but they found out Wally wins. Gotta admit, kinda wish the guy kept his mouth shut, DC heralds need an L. It’s not like people won’t accuse them of bias anyway, lmao.

I don't like saying this but it looks like Ichigo vs Yusuke will happen, due to the fact it's the biggest Bleach MU right now, tho iirc the crew didn't like the idea of Ichigo vs Yusuke but they said the same shit about Omnilander and look how it turned out

You know one big problem in finding a DC killer is to find one without itself being hung with other opponents. Like you will not pit Sailor Moon against Supergirl when Usagi Tsukino has Madoka Kaname, Pegasus Seiya and more.

Luckily we have had Harley Quinn vs Jinx so we know an idea how to find opponents.

Ichigo Kurosaki vs Yusuke Urameshi could be great... if Yoh Asakura does not exist. But then given Ichigo already have had Naruto so Yusuke vs Yoh kind of stands out.

And say it with me: Reimu Hakurei has Sakura Kinomoto, Sailor Mars and far better choices.

Also kind of sad when King Iggy is the real Digimon counterpart of Pokemon Arceus (the white-themed monster creator god of a verse about monster training and fighting games) but very few people will actually realise the obvious themes and connections between King Iggy and Arceus.





Anyone find it funny that Freddy Kreuger gets slapped less hard by Princess Luna than by Pennywise

I gotta be honest, Pepsiman has the best chance out of all of these to get picked, it just has too much meme potential.

Predator using Boba’s own lines against him is one of the best parts of the fight. That and the ugly motherf*cker line.

Nah the Ugly ************ line was lame as ****. Its iconic for character's to say that when they see the Predator, but Boba Fett comes from the Star Wars universe, A Yautja is average looking there.

Its fine, Death Battle's are meant to be dumb fun/popcorn entertainment in a way. The fights nowadays lack the length to them to allow any real emotional value to be placed in them. Character's repeating lines is supposed to be a wojak pointing at the screen moment, "They said the thing! They said the thing!!!!"


(Probably one of the draw backs to this episode is that it lacks emotional impact. I'd love to watch 24 minutes of The Predator and Boba basically hunting one another, the two getting tired, dirtier, and bloodier with each kill attempt. Both setting up traps and shit, which all leads up to an unarmoured fight between the two. This fight would have been better if it were a comic or short film, nonetheless, the fast paced fight that the Death Battle team presented was still entertaining as hell)
