Vs Trunks (Future/DBZ/DBS): Is thematic and does have the Toriyama connection but it's pretty tricky quantifying feats/scaling in Trigger/Cross (especially speed) plus Trunks is all but guaranteed his free W from Silver ugh.

Vs The Luminary (DQ11): Has the Toriyama connection too and introduces two new franchises to DB but having two somewhat niche JRPGs at the same time (both from Square Enix and overshadowed by Final Fantasy in the west) is likely to put off the DB team plus quantifying feats/scaling issues now apply to both characters... :/

Vs Link (Hero of Time): Is pretty self explanatory plus Link and Crono have better MUs.

Personally i prefer Crono (Chrono Trigger) instead of Future Trunks.

It IS and nothing will change my opinions on it.

*The animation potential between a swordfigher/martial artist and ranged fighter/psychic is quite limited, almost every animation of Silver Vs Future Trunks is just Silver playing keep away for as long as possible until the super forms come out and then someone (usually Silver) gets combo'ed into a finishing move.

*Silver hasn't had a prominent role in the core Sonic games for over a decade plus he struggles to make 6th (at best) when it comes to being a popular Sonic character meanwhile Future Trunks got an entire arc dedicated to him in DBS (both in anime and manga form), he is always in the top 5 most popular Dragon Ball character lists overall making this MU somewhat derivative towards Silver.

*Future Trunks doesn't suffer from the infamy of being attached to an infamous product like Silver plus many Sonic fans straight up hate or are indifferent to Silver to this very day because of 06.

*The still outdated attitude towards the Sonic franchise that DB has (Even with Strunton's work); 50 sec super form time limit, FTL+/MFTL+ unreliable "outliers", some remnants of argument from incredulity, etc.

*It's just a free W for Future Trunks at the end of the day, while also feeding the stigma some Sonic fans have towards DB (that was developed after Shadow Vs Mewtwo and Sonic Vs Mario 2) as well as potentially feeding the stigma towards the Sonic fandom as well.

Perhaps in an alternate timeline where Silver wasn't robbed of his MC status in the games and the attitude towards the Sonic franchise wasn't there in the earlier seasons of DB (some of which still hasn't dissipated), I wouldn't be opposed this MU (I wouldn't care if Silver still lost at that point tbh).

Overall there are dozens of MUs that are more requested from both popular and new franchises plus there's no real urgency to see a Sonic character on DB again in the foreseeable future (except maybe alternative versions of Tails or Knux due to the popularity of the Paramount Sonic movie franchise).

I doubt most Dragon ball and/or Sonic fans will lose sleep if Future Trunks Vs Silver never sees the light of day on DB.

I doubt DB wants to feed the "capeshit" reputation, so I'm guessing either Tanjiro Kamado Vs Jonathan Joestar or they surprise us with a MU that wasn't initially teased.
 
put Maul against Akaza from Demon Slayer. Demonic martial artists who serve a Dark lord and fought 2v1 against a master/apparentice duo and each killed a mentor in front of a main character. EZ

It really isn't. Silver can fight physically as well, as shown in the comics I think and in Sonic Forces. Besides, he can literally do so much with his telekinesis and could play off Trunks' Ki blasts well as well as manipulate the environment.

So? That same shit applies to a lot of characters, even within the Sonic series. Rock Lee was barely relevant in Naruto, and he got used anyway. Not to mention Silver has had many important roles in some games and is one of the more popular Sonic characters. It's not derivative at all

Uhh no? As of Shadow vs Ryuko, they buy Uni Sonic now, especially thanks to Ultra and Strunton (who unfortunately is no longer a member of the team). Since Trunks is a high tier character, they're gonna have to talk about high Sonic stats obviously to make it fairer.

So? That's a dumb way to discredit a MU. Not to mention we literally had a Sonic W last season. Idk why they'll still be complaining about this MU.

And I mean Silver wasn't the only one robbed. Practically everyone in the modern Sonic era was robbed of MC status. Though that could change in the next game.

Sonic is an iconic franchise and been with DB since day 1 and there are still a lot of popular matchups for it, and Silver vs Trunks is one of them. And it has a good chance of happening in the future.
