I'll join too, I guess. Just not as violent.

- Danganronpa V3 ending was brilliant from writing standpoint and it grew on me,
even if all of the game was just fiction

- Hollow Knight is kinda overrated for me. It's much fun but not as good as some people make it out to be. Same with Darkest Dungeon.

- Assassin's Creed 3 is amazing and is easily one of the best games in the franchise, I put it in top 3 behind the two first games of Ezio trilogy.

- Dark Souls III is my favorite Souls game, and Sekiro is my favorite From Software game I've played (Played Bloodborne, all of Dark Souls and Demon's Souls)

- Psycho Pass is the probably the best reality future-setting anime of all time, and the one with best philosophy and subject matter.

- I like Vinland Saga tad more than Berserk

Fair enough.

Also everyone is sleeping on Titanfall 2 rn,if you have a ps4 the ultimate edition is available for 5 dollars get it right now.

Lastly, Doom Eternal’s lore is mess and needs to be fixed up before the final dlc release

-Kojima is a bad influence on gaming. He brings forth the now commonly accepted idea that games are little more than interactable movies. People like Kojima and others that shall remain unnamed do little more than simplify and streamline videogames, making them lose their very nature in an effert to appear as "legit artists" to the eyes of the mainstream, and they just gobble it up, to the point where The Last of Us 2 won the "best narrative" award despite being narrated like a ******* animated movie and Hades, which uses its very medium in interesting ways to tell a story, got completely shafted. Games ARE NOT and SHOULD NOT be like movies, **** you, learn how to tell a story in an innovative way.
I disagree with this part. Psycho Mantis, The Sorrow, The End, pulling the trigger on The Boss, the entirety of MGS2's final act, those three games absolutely could not be movies and they do a lot of unique things with their storytelling that only fit the medium you're in. MGS4 and on... yeah MGS4 really is a movie game, though PW and MGSV are too light on the story for me to consider them that.

Anyway, some more hot takes

Avengers Endgame is shit, ruins a lot of characters and is just a clumsy and predictable movie.

Captain Marvel is alright. Definition of a mid-tier MCU movie. I liked the cat and SLJ.

Danganronpa 2 is a great game until its ending, which I legitimately think is so bad it ruins the whole game for me. I'd unironically advise people playing it to just stop after chapter 5 and make up an ending, then never interact with the DR franchise in any way.

Hunter X Hunter has the potential to be amazing, but as a whole I don't think it gets there and I regret every getting into it as I'll never see an ending for characters I've grown attached to.

These were all old games, Kojima has changed, just look at Death Stranding. And even back then, people took his works as "Hey, let's just fill it with cutscenes!", which still indirectly harmed the medium

10-C to 0 has to be the biggest leap in tier this wiki has, right? Anyway, VNs are their own thing and a lot of people I respect the takes of like Umineko, so it's probably decent.

Yeah, fair enough. Though, I think traditional storytelling still has a place in videogaming.

Anyway

Donkey Kong Country is hella mid, not a bad game but it really doesn't do it for me.

Pokèmon has sucked ass for basically a decade now, and I have lost all hope for it- though if anyone else feels the same as I do, I'd recommend checking out Megami Tensei, it's basically Pokèmon for not-babies

"Edgelords" are usually fine characters, and 90% of the time they're associated with bangers

It definitely does, but it shouldn't be awarded over more medium-related forms of narration

I always wanted to get into this series, but as a pc player I'm mostly shit out of luck, I tried to emulate Nocturne but it was full of glitches and basically unplayable

It's pretty good with some great writing, just very very slow paced. I agree that VN's aren't really for everybody.

@Armorchompy

Just a small question out of curiosity, what did you think about ending of V3?

Well if we're talking about unpopular opinions in general, here's some of my own:
-As I've said previously I enjoy Super Dragon Ball Heroes. While it is pure fanservice at it's core, I enjoy it acknowledging the aspects of the series not everyone likes and the OG arcs and characters exclusive to Heroes are really interesting.
-Pokemon peaked at Generation 4 and 5 in terms of Pokemon design, the personalities and goals of the villains, the regions and characters in them and felt more like a mature take on Pokemon. Anything after that feels bland and has none of the passion which fueled the previous games.
-Xbox Series X's backwards compatibility, and the recent addition of being to use Retroarch to run games up to GameCube and PS2, make it more valuable to own then a PS5.
-Joycons are some of the worst controllers of any console I've ever owned. Not only do they feel incredibly cheap to hold and have little weight to it, the fact it wears down after little use makes it practically scummy for Nintendo to sell new ones at 69 to 79 dollars.
-And lastly, I think Endgame should've had the people snapped away by Thanos remain dead. It ruined the intimidation and sheer lengths Thanos went to achieve his goals, and I felt it would've been more fulfilling to see the remaining Avengers take down Thanos in the name of their lost comrades.

Nocturne's my favorite but it isn't the only good game. Though, I'm kinda surprised, I never found emulating it too difficult. That said you could try out emulating Strange Journey, or Devil Survivor, those are pretty good too.

Just a small question out of curiosity, what did you think about ending of V3?
I didn't. I was spoiled on it, and thank god I was, because it doesn't sound like something I would have enjoyed. I haven't bothered playing V3, 2's left a bad taste in my mouth and my DR fan friends agree I'd dislike it.

You know what? I just feel like making some enemies today, so, here it is

The fact that The Elder Scrolls is allowed to scale all of its cast to feats/statements from a literal ******* fanfiction written by the EX-lore writer is absolutely laughable. Also, most of what's on the profiles is either a straight up fabrication or heavy interpretation of stuff that was never supposed to be interpreted in the first place (COFF COFF C0DA COFF COFF).

I mean, if we're gonna get into VSBW hot takes, I'm of the opinion that 99% of creation feats should be worth nothing unless it's explicitly stated or proved that they scale to normal statistics, instead of that being the default assumption.

Let's not go into that if we don't want this thread to be closed lol

Opinion on DR endings is very varied I guess. But that's perfectly fine, I can totally get if someone doesn't like the endings.

Here's another take for me:
DBS Broly, despite being a pretty decent movie, added nothing to the overarching DB story and felt like a deviation from the main storyline instead of continuing. I also feel that in comparison to concepts like Janemba or Hatchiyack, Broly doesn't add a whole lot to the table aside from being a strong Saiyan and he should've been introduced later into Super.

More of my Unpopular Opinions:
I like Doom Annihilation and Doom 2005 movie with the Rock
Doom 2005:
  1. Great soundtrack composed by Clint Manswell, especially a remix of "You Know What You Are?" by Nine Inch Nails played in the credits.
  2. The first-person scene is pretty awesome.
  3. The BFG prop is pretty cool, even if it doesn't work the way it's supposed to.
  4. There are some cute little nods to the series, such as the presence of a "Doctor Carmack" named after Id Software veteran John Carmack.
  5. Karl Urban as John "Reaper" Grimm is one of the few highlights of the movie.
Doom Annihilation
  1. Has a few references to the games, especially with some characters.
  2. The environment is pretty good, and does have the aesthetic of the games.
  3. Despite having some bad acting, there were also some fine acting for some characters.
  4. The special and particular effects are decent for a low budget film.
the Zelda Franchise is overrated, I know most of Zelda games are great but I can't enjoy it
I don't really like Hunter X Hunter's drawing and no "It's the mangaka's drawing style" won't excuse this issue (I still the story tho)

HXH art is fine, definitely not the selling point of the manga though.

IDK if it's truly an unpopular opinion but screw it:
CD Projekt Red deserves all the hate that it's been getting since Cyberpunk 2077's release. Not only did they lie about the game working on last gen consoles and had the nerve to claim it ran "surprisingly well", they also only gave review codes of the PC version to reviewers and only allowed them to use footage that they would allow. Now if anyone on this thread has had a good experience with the game that's perfectly fine, but what's been happening with it is completely unacceptable

I think CP2077 is fine, the problem is just the graphic and some bugs

Enemies wouldn’t render for shit and the game would crash if you time slowed before the game was officially rendered.

Which was hard to tell sometimes because the game basically moves like a slideshow.

@Unwanteduser48 my issue isn't the game, that is decent IMO (around a 7 or 8/10), but rather the deceit and lies from CD Projekt Red and the piss poor optimization of the last gen games. Even on PS5 and Series X, it still has a quite a bit of bugs which normally isn't a problem but they're so frequent that it ruins the atmosphere for me

I don't know if this would be a "hot take" but Akira Toriyama is a better writer and can deliver more of a payoff than Andrew Hussie. I personally think it's a cold take, but some people might not think that.

Dragon Ball Heroes is a fun ride when you don't take it too seriously. It excites the monkey part of my brain that just wants to see flashy things and fusions fighting big strong guys that become entire multiverses.

I like the Tournament of Power by the end, and Jiren's backstory isn't bad, it was just told badly. And by like the Tournament of Power, I mean the whole thing. Sure, there are cuts I'd make, but it doesn't significantly affect my enjoyment. There's only one episode I didn't care for at all.

Touhou is wanked in terms of raw stats. Severely. Maybe not with their haxes, but definitely with their raw stats. (EDIT: Stat scaling touhou characters from each other due to beating one of them in a fight is also really stupid considering most combat is, for the most part, stat equalized. There are some outliers, but generally speaking, danmaku play is meant to level the playing field)

Hunter x Hunter is worse than Yu Yu Hakusho. Honestly, I don't even like it as much as Naruto (up until before the 4th great ninja war).

My own unpopular opinions:

Goblin Slayer is Mediocre
Doomsday Clock was trash
I think SCP is overhyped (Quality wise)
Masadaverse is poorly written
SMT >>>> Persona
I'm glad Mythology profiles were nuked off the wiki
I think people get too easily offended when it comes to Hazbin Hotel or Cyberpunk 2077
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake's plot was hot garbage

Seriously, the Mythology characters scaling to modern day concepts was absolutely gut-wrenching, Uni+ Chronos via "creating time" when the greeks thought that time was only a mental construct? Seriously?

I agree with SCP, it's not the idea itself is not interesting but when you have so many internet users attempt to create their own SCPs it basically is the equivalent of two kids on a playground arguing their character is stronger then the other

You were braver than I with the Masadaverse statement.
