Yes. In this thread, we will continue (from here) to discuss the upcoming season on ScrewAttack's DEATH BATTLE!

(Note: The YouTube channel of Screwattack has been changed to Death Battle, but the team remains as Screwattack.)

This thread is full. You are welcome here for our discussion thread #3.

Content included in this thread:

- Predictions on what fights we will be seeing

- Predictions on who will win when the season starts

- And much more!

The Spoiler Tag (VSBW)
And the above shows how to make a spoiler tag - useful for discussing spoilers before a Death Battle episode gets launched on YouTube.

So guys, what was your favorite moment of the fight?

I have two: first when Rock uses the time stopper and everyone freezes, including X, making me wonder "Wait, what about Dark Hold?", Rock aims at X and suddenly X moves in the frozen time with Jojo characters behind for a big "Oh crap!".

The other is EXE's finishing move. Dunno why, it's total overkill, but it just shows how much power the guy has.

I mean, I really wanna see Jason Bourne vs James Bond but I know they would downplay both of them
We have had Spike Spiegel vs John Wick in the Community Death Battle so expect James Bond vs Jason Bourne be the same - except with better police/military/government agent training.

Would be good to see Star Force Mega-Man vs Blue Beetle in DBX.
Or should we compare their speeds first? (This is actually interesting even as a Death Battle)

That bothered me cause can't Geo also heal himself too? Why make him do the face?

Geo may be fine with Hub healing, but seeing mere X regenerating is quite surprising as most non-versus community people would just see X as a "amplified Classic" and may not know the broken hax added to X. And yes Hub and Geo are even more crazily haxxed than X.

Yeah, I know Geo can heal himself and handily beat X a few seconds later (btw, EXE's arm turning into that giant laser was my other favorite moment), but it was still funny to see him go all WTF. Same with Volnutt in the middle of Classic and X's transformations.

Also, unpopular opinion, EXE might be my least favorite of the Megas. Not to say I don't like him, because I do, and I've played more Battle Network than I have anything else other than Classic (while I'm only a third of the way into BN1, I haven't played Legends or Star Force and I only played the opening level of X). Volnutt is the friendly one, X is the badass one, Classic is the medium between the two, and I guess I just like Geo better (to be fair, my first introduction to MM was through him somehow). It may be that I don't really associate a personality with EXE yet, given Lan is a thing.

But I really wanna know who would win: Geo or Hub? Both 4-B, no 2-C forms, speed equalized, and whatever handicap I can think of.
Hub still has more cards than Geo. Hub still wins.

@Cal: Well, EXE is kinda the cool and kind, responsible and down to earth big brother to Lan's more "immature" and lazy personality. I played the game long ago, though

I'd argue that X is more of the tragic one of the Megamen, as, scowl aside, he isn't so edgy as much as he is very dramatic (and given the amount of crap he went through and how he didn't even get a happy ending, it's hard to blame him).

The only hope I think Black Widow has for this fight is the fact that she is more experienced with fighting a variety of superhuman threats, much more than Widowmaker has, plus an argument can be made that she is much faster than Widowmaker (we say she is, anyway)

Widowmaker vs The Sniper: the way better matchup.
What? I'd like to hear why a Team Fortress version of Widowmaker with a clearly lower AP, durability and speed is a better opponent against Widowmaker. (In terms of thematic similarities Sniper and Black Widow are just similar to Widowmaker in different areas.)

But at least Black Widow could hope for shutting down Widowmaker's network or even her weapons with her hacking skills, or she could close in silently for a kill. (Just for Widowmaker to jump away and leave a bomb behind.)

I might add that the TF2 cast is getting buffed to 8-C or possibly higher due to Merasmus manipulating the Carnival of Carnage The same time Half-Life 3 is coming out when that gets calced.

1. Why these five Mega Men and why include Volnutt? They are the five that are requested most often for DB and they showed up in Rock's Final Smash in SSB. Volnutt's chances of surviving weren't known when the episode was initially planned (According to Ben, EXE's strength was a big surprise to him)

2. In previous battle royales, attack order was important. Was that important here? No, not really, mainly because of DB's rule change. EXE's ridiculous strength

3. Why use anime and manga but not crossover games? Anime and manga for those characters are usually connected and help clarify the vagueness of the games. As for crossovers, the different universes usually used in those games screws with the scaling (this is why the Akuma in Tekken wasn't referenced in Jin vs Ryu)

4. Why were Lan and Geo involved in the fight? Aren't they considered outside help? Lan and Geo are very important for EXE and Star Force's character. If they did Venom with only Eddie and no symbiote, it would have been a bad fight (analogy by Sam)

5. Since EXE's cards are provided by his operator, shouldn't he have had no access to his weapons? Yes and no, while the game mechanic does exist in the Battle Network games, he can preinstall chips on him and he has access to all his chips in the anime through perfect synchronization, so it's fine.

6. In Japan, the Maverick Hunters of X and the Purifier Units in Legends are called "Irregular Hunters," so Volnutt is technically a Maverick Hunter. With that, shouldn't Volnutt have knowledge of X and of tech from his time? He doesn't act like a Maverick Hunter and he is never shown to know anything about the distant past of his timeline, so that reasoning doesn't work.

7. Could we see any of the Mega Men come back? Sure, just request them enough (Ben slightly implied that X may come back)

Then Ben started talking about the Widow v Widow fight and how "it's a lot closer than you think." Uh huh, sure
