Yakuza General Discussion Thread

You should add all relevant scans for it being canon as well. Then you can put up the link to the draft in a CRT and me and the boys will see to it getting done.

What animals have Heat btw? Only two come to mind and I don't think either of them have Heat iirc.
The tigers and IIRC, the boss bears? Sharks too now that I recall. Anything that emits Aura like Kiryu does.

You should also try to avoid using other wiki links and try to stick to in-game screenshots as much as you possibly can.

Depends. Are they canon (As in, referenced in the story by other characters)?
Yeah from what I recall, it's a mandatory part of the campaign, to get the first instrument that can summon them.

The other summons/instruments.are hidden in different islands you can travel to at your leisure.

Then that is fine.

How about this
(...) To address any potential skepticism before getting into the abilities, the canonicity of Heat has been demonstrated multiple times throughout the series, with characters explicitly acknowledging it—not only in the obvious case involving Majima and Haruka, but also in various substories. [bunch of notes and refs explaining why substories are also canon]

They don’t tho, just checked. The Y6 shark does have glowing eyes but idk if that counts.
Would Majima summons count, the pirate ones?
Maybe but they’re also considered to be dark gods or whatever, so they’re prolly a special case?

Scans, images and stuff for the Heat page should all be there now. Not very confident with the formatting tho, so lemme know if there’s anything I should change to make the draft look better.

There are also a few more things that should be included in the CRT as well. Like should we list these speed feats as justification for Heat speed amps instead of their base speeds, as they’re currently indexed.

And there are some feats that are prolly worth calc-ing, like that one electric rifle in Gaiden where you can dodge its shots, and Majima being somewhat able to hold off a giant squid’s tentacle (later fights it head-on as well).

Prolly should avoid linking to another wiki and use in-game clips and screenshots.

Prolly not worth the effort, similar feats can be achieved in-game after all, and I doubt they're gonna wield anything faster than what we have RN.

The movement of Kiryu needs to happen AFTER THE BULLET LEAVES THE MUZZLE, otherwise it's aim-dodging.

Without actual feats for the squid itself I don't think it'll amount to much.

Not talking about whether or not they’re calable if that’s what you thought I meant. These heat actions are essentially the protags blitzing people because- they use heat, like, not counting essence of terror, most of them involve Kiryu and Yagami perceiving others as near frozen lol (this works on bosses as well, and some are only usable with EX Boost and such, so that checks out too).

And the pfps instead treat them as base movement speeds.

I know what I’m saying. You can quick step away from it the same way the current bullet-timing calcs do.

Prolly, but one could chalk the boss parts as game mech or as inconsistencies down the line, either way, a "Higher with Heat" should solve the issues.

Also this feat never got applied despite getting accepted LOL, and you being able to do the same in IW (I still think this should be short-burst combat speed and reactions).

Oh well. Either way, electricity speed standards are in a vicious Mexican standoff RN so that one won't be worth anything for a while, doubt it'd give us anything better than what we got RN, or it could be a humongous outlier.

"Hypersonic combat speed, with Hypersonic+ reactions" then? Because- idk I don’t think "short-burst combat speed" is really a workable term.

That being said, the other cast can also do it during combat so uh... IDK if limiting it to short-burst speed really is the best. But either way, not related with Heat.

You can make a CRT for the ability page now and I'll tag the gang to take a look.

I’d prefer to include as many things as possible in a single CRT so we don’t have to make multiple ones and wait tediously. Besides we still need to wait for the Invulnerability rewrite to be concluded since it will affect the Heat page. tag your gng to take a look at that thread (again) instead

So uh... some bad news.

This thread popped up, IDK what it means for Heat, but I have a feeling it might not pan out.

We should be safe. Energy and chi manip are innate, you literally need them to use Heat in the first place (actually, chi manip can probably be listed as Likely for anyone who isn’t Kiryu or Yagami- I dunno). The rest can be used by anyone, even random street goons lmao. Extreme Heat is even easier to justify since the abilities it grants are pretty much the same across games.

So here's a funny story, I was looking into some feats to calc and Kenmochi's lamp post ripping feat comes to mind.

That shit got jacked to Class K but I didn't bother making it into a blog because of how much of a massive outlier it is.

I'll do it myself I guess.
