Recently, I have noticed this:
However, the problem is that the publish year of pre-1800 verses is hard to determine, even by academic standards.
For example, English Wikipedia has noted the publish year of The Divine Comedy as such:
[...] begun c. 1308 and completed in 1320, a year before his death in 1321
Another example is Journey to the West. English Wikipedia has noted the publish year as such:
c. 1592 (print)
I'm not even start to note The Epic of Gilgamesh, which is.
c. 2100–1200 BC
Therefore, I post this thread for a possible solution of this problem.

As the one who started Verses by Decade, I agree that I didn’t look too far ahead of publication dates that are forgotten by recorded history.

Therefore, I post this thread for a possible solution of this problem.
While I can’t think of an immediate solution, perhaps a category (like suggested above) could be made for verses with unknown publications?

Just list it as century. Most old poems and stuff are known to come from certain centuries. So anything before ethe 1800s should just be centuries.
This seems like a good solution to me.

I didn't even know we listed the publishing date.

I think we should just go by centuries for earlier verses.

It seems that it can be applied, but what's the standard of "earlier"? I feel that the standard of "earlier" is the verse which has no accurate ymd release date avaliable.

Would listing by decade from the 1800s and listing by century before that be a good approach?

I think that this revision seems fine to apply then.
