Blasts Hyperspace gates have some merit now that I think about it. It would explain why he was able to come back from being thrown outside of time.

Exactly. It isn’t. Deku dekufolds the Bakiverse. 👁👄👁
Baki and Yujiro scale above Mach 78 and they are always at those level of speeds. Deku needs to stack power ups in order to get to Mach 100. Even if deku was at those speeds all the time Yujiro would just his superior prediction skills, instinctive reaction and 0.5 unconscious to make sure that deku would never hit him.

They’re both in High Hypersonic+, even at Deku at 45%.

Deku is MASSIVELY hypersonic with Faux 100%. 🗿

Deku blitzes with a mountain level punch.

This is how Genos will be revived guys
How dare you
Saitama is a gag character, but he isn't a conventional one. That's the thing most people don't realize.

He's clearly a gag character to some extent, as demonstrated by him being largely comedic relief, several of his feats meaning to be gags, and even outright said by ONE in an interview, but people who compare him to characters like Arale, or god forbid Bugs Bunny, have no idea what Saitama is or what he represents. He's a gag character who parodies typical Shonen protagonists by being the strongest character from chapter/episode 1, rather than growing throughout the series and needing to endure severe obstacles on that path. And being a gag character doesn't make him automatically invincible, nor takes away any potential depth to the character. He has a whole character arc, motive, personality spectrum, interactions and relationships with other characters, and even the main joke is not consistent. The people who think the core of Saitama is "one punch xd" and that there is nothing more in there really misinterpreted virtually everything about him.

The last couple chapters aren't even needed for my point, but they alone prove why Saitama isn't such a flat, one-dimensional character as people like to say. Tbh it's kind of an insult to ONE, who wrote an actually pretty unique main character.
This is pretty much how I feel. His concept is a gag, (ie taking a shonen protagonist from the end of their journey and putting them at the start of the series), but One's writing has furthered him beyond simply being a gag character. Sure he can be funny, but he has his own wants, flaws, and struggles which the story isn't afraid to address. He's easily bored, but is so set on needing a real fight, to the point where he doesn't look for anything else, (friends, games, ect), thereby passively allowing his own suffering. He's also quick to frustration with people who talk too much, and generally isn't a very social dude.

But that's also balanced out with his selflessness. He is willing to destroy his image and accomplishments to make the other heroes look better, and he genuinely cares for people like Genos and King. Saitama's also pretty supportive of Genos, even when he fails to accomplish his goals or loses for the 900000th time in spectacular fashion.

In this way, a conceptual gag character can transcend their, "gag character", status and become a well thought out, and passionately written character for the audience to resonate with. Any character written well enough can transcend their inspiration or conceptual tetherings. Just look at Boros. He, conceptually, is just a Goku parody. And while he still is that, he is then molded into a mirror of Saitama, giving him depth, and struggles that the audience finds relatable because we find Saitama relatable, all while making this parody character's death dramatic and saddening.

Sorry for the rant lmao.

When I told my discord friends that it’s possible Saitama could get hurt for the first time after chapter 166 released they pulled out the whole “he’s the funny gag” argument
hehe
