Sergio Bonelli Comics Discussion Thread

Also, I'm a bit conflicted about creating profiles... Should I create more of them? I mean, I feel inadequate creating a Tex profile with feats only from Tex Gold up to #30, considering he has several hundreds if not more than a thousand issues of other series. Ik it isn't really feasible to try to read everything before creating a single profile, it feels VERY weird doing that, lol.
I myself only really use stuff from the first 130 issues and the last 3 or 4, you can always add stuff as you find it

ah btw the 2-B guy might actually not be a smurf, because he survives the destruction of his own universe... but the scene directly before it he gets shot and killed by Dylan... but later he's completely fine and doesn't even have a bullet hole... jesus this story is complex

Maybe it's really good regen/resurrection instead of durability?

It may still be a smurf with a combination of immortality and resistence to space-time erasure or something depending on the context.

Maybe is a way to express that he died and went to some otherworld, or it was his imagination while dying, dunno.
Perhaps it's a form of resurrection that makes him change universe if killed, dunno 2.

Irl stuff made me forget to conclude the original thread I opened, I will do it tomorrow by writing down some drafts to summarize what was decided.

Yeah, I'll make a blog soon about Tex and some other universes, with adequate translations. University's just a bit too much rn.

On a more positive note, digging around some old stuff in my house, I found some Bonelli comics that I didn't even know I had. Martin Mystére, Dylan Dog, Magico Vento (not sure how to translate it... Magic Wind? Doesn't seem right), Mister No... And some other stuff I'm not sure if it's Bonelli but certainly looks the part, like Judas,

Take your time for the blog, Tex's profile is comprehensible anyway, no need to rush, I understand what it means dealing with the uni.

Yeah, it's so very much in his style that I'd doubt it wasn't.

Made the blog, although it is very bare-bones for now. I'm very unsure on how to proceed, because there are way too many interesting feats, and I don't know how to pick them. At first I was really doubtful on how to go about it, but I decide to take it nice and slow, I'll be putting one at a time, slowly, and picking carefully which would be the most general and important for scaling. Far from ideal - I am someone who believes that an adequate respect thread should have most feats in a series, even those dismissed as irrelevant, but it would be such a hassle to translate every single thing that I will make do for now.

If anyone knows portuguese and is interested in seeing the entire thing, I have a much more complete respect thread in here, with one dedicated to the character of Tex Willer in here. Someone who is fluent in italian may be able to pick up some things but not much.

I hope I'll be of more help in the future! I'll try to read editions 401-500 of Tex, and also start Zagor, Magic Wind, Mister No and some others, at least reading the ones in my house. Since it's an easy read, it won't be really work.

Just a note that you don't need to list and translate everything in the blog, just the things that need dialogues to be understood, either being explanations for powers or tiers.
Purely visual feats can stay as they are.

Also, to list feats you can make a feats section in the profile itself (but a respect blog is the same, if you want make it).

For example in my profiles I will use a feat section with tabbers for lifting, speed, skill etc..

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. The problem with many Tex scans is that the text is usually essential for the feat, even if only a small part. But no biggie, at least it guarantees a decent process; I'd rather have few very well-explained feats than a lot of no-context stuff.

Oh, good reminder. I kind of dislike cluttering the powers & abilities section with feats, so that's very convenient.

One thing that's been brought up is that using translations of a translation should not be done, idk how strict that rule is tho

I think it's fine as long as it doesn't involve complicated stuff that might be mistaken for something else.

But I can ask for that too.

Official translations should be exempt of that. Tex comics had Sergio's personal involvement and they are very loyal to the original text, and are not fanmade.

Also, the crossover is technically canon for both, but the first part (the one not written by Boselli) has the Dampyr MCs completely out of character in everything, and I'm iffy in considering it. I mean, look at this. I can barely accept the roundhouse kick, which should do less than nothing to an undead, but come on, what's that unnatural goofy shit maneuver at the end?

It's not like we're gonna cross-scale tho, I don't see a problem

It's because I could technically use the first part for skill feats, but them being ooc pisses me off :v

Grounded: Tex, Mister No (Arguable), Judas, Diabolik, Ken Parker, Nathan Never.

Not Grounded: Dylan Dog, Martin Mystére, Magic Wind, Dhampyr.

Haha Thunderman lemme throw a boxing kangaroo like a ragdoll and kick Dracula in the nads: Zagor

A little bit? It takes place on modern day and there is some stuff like flashing lights that can instantly KO people and robots, but nothing too out there. Certainly ahead of its time but it is a more 20-minutes-into-the-future deal.

I take it back. Started to read Nathan Never, it isn't grounded by any means, lol. It remembers me a lot of MIB in the way it works.

Also, I think I got two Tex feats that may be calc-worthy, as much as I dislike the idea. I'll upload the scans soon, but basically one involves Tex pushing Carson outside of the way of a gunshot after it has been fired (it can be argued that he reacted to the act of drawing the gun, which is probably the case, but still very notable due to how it's made) and the othe is Tex weaving through a hail of bullets. Lots of motion and certainly some aimdodging is involved, but he does it out in the open and by moving quite clearly out of the way of bullets. I'd expect high Subsonic to very low Supersonic values by eyeballing them, but again, only applies if taken at face value. Some fun stuff inbound too.

May be irrelevant but I managed to get a lot of other Bonelli comics. With some luck, I think I'll have profiles soon. Magic Wind and Zagor in particular are my focus after I finish the remaining 400# issues (which I am almost through).

Some cool stuff: Magic Wind is more powerful than I expected. I decided to just open on a random page of a comic I have in my house, and I already found a great marksmanship feat. He casually hit three coins in mid-air, exactly in the middle of each one of them, with a single shot each from a revolver. He's also a very smart fellow, he managed to trick some genius-level people with ease, and can astrally project himself, with the projection having selective invisibility.

Give the feats to me and I'll see what I can do.

By the way, Twellas left the wiki, so DD pages are probably not happenin'

Yeah if I count the last movement as a bullet dodge that's gonna give really good results, one of those weapons is a rifle so it's gonna be dodging a fast bullet at less of a meter of distance
Simple to calculate, should be Class 5
Probably Class 5, might get slightly better than the rock if I highball it but idk
What material, stone? It'll definitely be 9-B but idk if better than the current calc.
I'm not sure what this should be, LS, AP? I doubt it'll get past 9-C
It won't, that door's super thin
That's some good stuff, not sure if GPE can be used for it, but definitely tier 8 if it can
5-A, maybe could reach 2-B

The sword catching feat is for LS, it's the first thing I tought of for the MC, I don't know if it needs a calc or can be eyeballed to athlete level or something.

Each atom of the wall's bricks are actually universes

It can definitely be athlete level without an eyeball, yeah. We don't really see how high up it flies so idk if we can do more, but if he fights with it Peak Human's warranted as that's wayyy too huge for a human to wield

It could also work if the guy he disarmed shows passable fighting skill with it, you kinda need to be comparable in LS to disarm

I could check it out. This is a lotta stuff tho so I'll compile it in a blog and then sit on it for roughly three years before half-assing all of them
