I read somewhere that their research team actually came to a unanimous agreement that Sasuke stomps the piss out of Hiei. Though somehow they ignored their input in the final product.

They did. I don't think they're really taken into account at this rate. They never seemed to have an affect on the winner.

Nor did they even give him powers that he gained from absorbing Orochimaru or the powers that he got access from Cursed Seal of Heaven Level 2.

Funny thing about death battle is they always get it wrong 50% of the time. They said Hiei scales to Yusuke feat of punching Yomi which was 285 Zettatons. But the blast should be divided by 2 since both Yomi and Yusuke caused it with their full powered punch. Divided it should give them 142.5 zettatons. Hiei who fought Makuro, was nearly destroyed and defeated by him, a Demon King Level person. While Yusuke could at least stalemate Yomi, another Demon King level person. So you can't say EOS Hiei is entirely on EOS Yusuke's level.

They scaled Hiei to Yusuke but didn't scale Sasuke to Hagoromo. Hagoromo and Hamura creates and moved the moon into orbit via GBE. The feat was calced at 400 zettatons. It's divided by 2 for both so Hagoromo should have 200 zettatons. Sasuke has half of Hagoromo's power so Naruto Ana Sasuke should indivually have 100 zettatons. Then you have Sasuke's Indra Susanoo with Biju chakra, which put him on Hagoromo Level so 200 zettatons. This battle was in hiei's favor. They amped Hiei's mental abilities and green demon form. While they nerfed Sasuke by being Teen and not even giving him Indra arrow or ultimate Susanoo.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Even in the manga, Yusuke fought Yomi for 60 hours. Yomi löst his next fight because he was soo exhausted fighting Yusuke. Hiei riled up Mukuro and Hiei got speed blitz one shotted. Mukuro strength depends on her emotion. Hiei purposely got her mad to see how strong she was. Hiei couldn't react at all but somehow he's equal to Yusuke.
