Question about scaling through small damage (Bleach)

This is a question as to how scaling would work generally when it comes to delivering small amount of damage (where size different is not an issue), the example I am using is where Ichigo first fought against Kenpachi, before his attacks were not doing any damage, but in the middle he started delivering small damage before his major power up. How would that work in scaling? Would that be lower cap or at most?

So all that would mean is early fight Ichigo < mid fight Ichigo. That specifically doesn’t mean Ichigo’s scales to Zaraki and rather just means Ichigo bypasses Zaraki’s passive reiatsu. Since Zaraki wasn’t really trying yet, since his passive reiatsu was bodying Ichigo.

For further context to what Arc said reread bleach chapter 105 page 7 zaraki explains it himself then 108 and 109.

“It’s no great secret really when two spiritual forces collide, the weaker of the two absorbs the impact. That’s all there is to it. In short the killing sword you have created by honing your spirit energy to its limits is weaker than the spirit energy leaking out of me unconsciously.”

Ichigo is getting nerfed in this moment due to fear so he’s not strong enough to harm zaraki and get through his passive Reiatsu, Ichigo doesn’t scale to this zaraki it’s more like beginning of fight scared Ichigo<zaraki passive Reiatsu then after he calms down it’s restored resolve Ichigo>passive zaraki Reiatsu.

Okay, so just i understand for the last part, if Kenpachi remained passive the entire time, brave Ichigo may have had a chance of victory?
