Attack Potency and Durability

Sokyoku Calc

Captain Databook Stats

In the Bleach Color+ databook, they assign the Captains 6 stats, 2 of them are Spiritual Pressure and Attack. We know that your Spiritual Pressure contributes to your Attack Potency and logically your Attack stat would contribute to your Attack Potency as well (the databook refers to the Attack stat as your raw power, so akin to your physical strength). Therefore, according to the databook, your Attack Potency would be the combination of your Attack and Spiritual Pressure stats. I will utilize the databook stats to scale the Captains to each other and will provide consistency checks using the manga and Souls databook.

It should be noted that the databook stats are not linear. As you’ll soon find out, people like Zaraki have “199” AP while Unohana has a “200” AP, but it is obvious that Unohana can easily kill Soul Society arc Zaraki as she kills Zaraki over and over again in the TYBW. However, Gin has a “160” AP compared to Toshiro’s “170” AP, yet they are able to fight relative to each other. So, it should be clear that the gaps in these AP stat values aren’t linearly scaling, but rather should be treated as tiers. For example, everyone in the “180” AP stat value would scale to or above any of the “170” AP characters. Lastly, as will become abundantly clear, the stats should apply to the base form of the Captains exclusively, as they aren’t very consistent when it comes to Shikai and Bankai scaling (Bankai Komamura is able to clash evenly with Zaraki despite Komamura having a “150” AP stat and Zaraki having a “199” AP stat). Additionally, the contextualizing images next to the stats are the base forms of the Captains.

Yamamoto

With the information presented to us in the Soul Society Arc, Yamamoto is easily the strongest Captain of the bunch. Bleach Color+ he receives a 100 in Attack and Spiritual Pressure, or a 200 total for determining his AP standings, which is the highest AP value awarded in this databook. In the Souls databook, his Shikai is stated to have the strongest destructive power of all Zanpakuto known at the time. In the manga, Nanao doesn’t think two Captains (contextually Shunsui and Jushiro) would be enough to beat Yamamoto after witnessing him flex his Spiritual Pressure in base, going as far to say Shunsui and Jushiro don’t stand a chance. Yamamoto also doesn’t believe that Shunsui and Jushiro could fight him without releasing their Zanpakuto and believes his Shikai could effortlessly vaporize them in their base states. Jushiro hypes up Yamamoto’s Shikai by calling it transcendent and the most terrible and greatest Zanpakuto of all. Lastly, as proof of Yamamoto’s prowess, after time skipping past the battle, he’s shown to have zero wounds sustained while Shunsui and Jushiro are bloody.

From the above information, I believe it is clear that base Yamamoto is stronger than any other base Captain in the Soul Society Arc, and his Shikai scales above any Zanpakuto feat in this arc as well. Going by just Soul Society Arc scaling this would place base Yamamoto far above the Sokyoku, as he would be superior to base Byakuya who could fight Shikai Ichigo, and Ichigo blocked the Sokyoku and destroyed the stand that can withstand the Sokyoku’s power. Yamamoto’s Shikai would scale far beyond twice the power of the Sokyoku, as Byakuya’s Bankai ability Senkei can double his AP, and Ryujin Jakka is the strongest Zanpakuto. However, Yamamoto’s power doesn’t fluctuate much if at all throughout the story, so this scaling won’t affect his ratings because he already scales to higher values. That being said, the following scans can be added to Yamamoto’s AP mostly and durability justifications to flesh them out.

Soi Fon

Unfortunately, Soi Fon doesn’t have any direct scaling to “Sokyoku level” Captains nor do the databooks do her any favors. In Bleach Color+, she has an 80 Attack and 60 Spiritual Pressure stats for a combined 140 AP stat, the lowest of all the Captains. The Souls databook reiterates that in base and Shikai, Soi Fon is Yoruichi’s superior in combat. The manga supports this notion as Soi Fon consistently dominates Yoruichi until both use Shunko and Yoruichi’s complete Shunko proves superior to Soi Fon’s incomplete Shunko. Soi Fon even implies she held back against Yoruichi. While a bit ambiguous, Shunko Soi Fon may have tanked an attack from Shunko Yoruichi, but later showings imply that Yoruichi intentionally controlled her attacks to not hit Soi Fon, which is more consistent with how easily Shunko Yoruichi defeated Shunko Soi Fon. Finally, while dominating base Yoruichi is certainly impactful, Yoruichi is repeatedly stated to be rusty and has no AP or durability scaling outside of her fight with Soi Fon. So, the only connector in scaling to Captains would be the databook stats.

Currently, Soi Fon’s Soul Society Arc scaling is based on the fact that “she should be comparable to Toshiro”. However, that has no real basis and is contradicted by the Bleach Color+ databook stats that place Toshiro above Soi Fon in AP. I have a few suggestions for how to scale Soi Fon in this arc:
  1. Unknown, higher with Shunko
  2. At most 6-B [7 Teratons], higher with Shunko
  3. Unknown, [possibly] at most 6-B [7 Teratons], higher with Shunko
The databook stats aren’t exactly linear as I mentioned above, so it isn’t as simple as using stat ratios to downscale Soi Fon. “Sokyoku level” starts at an AP value of 180, which could be massively above Soi Fon’s 140 or it could be somewhat relative. Then Gin’s AP stat is 160 and he is able to harm a clearly fatigued Byakuya. Hence my proposal of scaling Soi Fon to at most “Gin level”. However, I understand that avenue of scaling is potentially a bit on the generous side, so I’m also fine with saying she’s unknown in this arc. Regardless, the “should be equal” to Toshiro scaling is very unfounded, and should be replaced with one of the suggestions I offered.

Yoruichi

Most of the Yoruichi scaling is covered when talking about Soi Fon, because they go hand in hand in this arc. The Souls databook confirms that Yoruichi’s Shunko surpasses Soi Fon’s. The manga supports this as well, as Yoruichi is able to dominate the fight after using Shunko to the point Soi Fon concedes inferiority to Yoruichi. So, Yoruichi will get her scaling similar to Soi Fon. The only change is that Yoruichi should be “far higher” with her Shunko as it is beyond Soi Fon’s Shunko which amped a base Soi Fon that surpassed a base Yoruichi.

Gin

Gin has surprisingly little scaling in the Soul Society Arc. The Bleach Color+ databook gives him Attack and Spiritual Pressure stats of 80, for a total AP stat of 160. In the manga, Gin is able to slash through Toshiro’s Shikai water slash technique and sustains low amounts of damage from Toshiro freezing his arm. So, despite Toshiro having a 170 AP stat, Gin is portrayed as relative to Toshiro, meaning the gap between 160 and 170 AP stats is not very large at all, unlike the 190 to 200 AP stat gap portrayed with Yamamoto fighting Shunsui and Jushiro. So, Gin in this arc would scale relative to Toshiro in terms of AP and durability. Finally, Gin offers some support for the 160/170 AP stat downscale from the 180 AP stat characters that scale to the Sokyoku, as Gin is able to pierce Byakuya with Shinso. Although Byakuya was fatigued from his fight with Ichigo, he was still able to move to block, which should warrant a fair downscale to baseline 6-B in my opinion.

Unohana

Possibly the easiest character to scale, simply due to there being only one statement to gauge her power from. Like Yamamoto, Unohana has better scaling later down the line and is implied to stay at the same level of power across the series, so this won’t change her tiering, but rather can be used to flesh out her AP justifications. Also like Yamamoto, Unohana has 100 in both Attack and Spiritual Pressure stats, or 200 in AP. So, Unohana would likewise scale to the strongest caliber of Captains, and in terms of the Soul Society Arc scale above “Sokyoku level” Captains like Byakuya.

Aizen

Another character I’m including not to change their ratings–because they already scale far beyond anything in the Soul Society Arc–but rather to flesh out their AP and durability justifications for the added polish on the profile. Aizen is the third and last character to receive the maximum 200 AP stat with 100 in both Attack and Spiritual Pressure. Anyone (which is probably everyone) with knowledge of the full series probably isn’t surprised to find out that Aizen, Yamamoto, and Unohana are in a league of their own at this point in the story. The Souls databook describes Aizen as defeating his foes as if it was nothing, in an instant, and creating pure hopelessness. In the manga, we see Aizen one shot an enraged Bankai Toshiro, a post-Byakuya fight, healed up Bankai Ichigo, a post-Byakuya fight Shikai Renji, and Bankai Komamura with little effort at all. Ichigo even comments on the disparity between “Captain class” Aizen and “Captain class” Komamura. In terms of exclusively looking at the Soul Society Arc, Aizen casually scales one-shot levels above characters like Ichigo who can block and destroy the Sokyoku in Shikai.

Byakuya

There is a lot to go over with Byakuya, but first thing of note is that his Bleach Color+ AP stat is 180, having 90s in both Attack and Spiritual Pressure. As the initial “final boss” of Soul Society for Ichigo, this comes as no surprise. The Souls databook describes his Bankai as being able to slam Shikai Ichigo. This databook also informs us that when Byakuya condenses his Bankai into blades using Senkei, he is able to double his killing power, otherwise known as a 2x AP amp. The databook informs us that Senkei enables Byakuya to clash evenly with Ichigo’s Tensa Zangetsu. Then Byakuya is able to get even stronger with his Shukei Hakuteiken, which Souls refers to as his final Bankai form that encompasses all of his fighting spirit that is able to briefly clash with Ichigo’s Getsuga encased Bankai. It’s also worth noting that Souls claims Byakuya was able to body block Gin’s attack while fatigued. All of this is supported by the manga as well.

In the manga, Byakuya is able to briefly hold off Renji’s Bankai while in base, and then destroy Renji’s Bankai with his own Bankai. Byakuya can also clash with Shikai Ichigo in base, the same Shikai Ichigo that just destroyed the Sokyoku and scaffold, and Senbonzakura Kageyoshi can block Shikai Ichigo’s Getsuga before shredding Ichigo’s body with petals. Byakuya is then put on the back pedal against Bankai Ichigo, but he can block Tensa Zangetsu with a wall of petals (although Ichigo goes all out soon after and swats away all of Byakuya’s petals), and can catch Tensa Zangetsu with only moderate injuries. However, once he unleashes Senkei and amps his power, Byakuya can clash evenly with Ichigo multiple times and harm Ichigo. Byakuya is also able to put a Byakurai through Ichigo, albeit Ichigo’s body was buckling under the weight of his own Bankai. At the end of the fight, Shukei Hakuteiken was able to harm Ichigo in the clash, despite inevitably losing that clash.

Byakuya’s Sokyoku scaling is very blatant, he is able to match Shikai Ichigo in base, and then get stronger from there. Shikai Ichigo, as will be explained later, is capable of both blocking the Sokyoku and destroying the scaffold that can tank the full might of the Sokyoku. Therefore, Byakuya will scale to the Sokyoku calc in base, twice the calc with Senkei, and even higher with Shukei Hakuteiken.

Renji

Post-Bankai training Renji has overpowered scaling for the Soul Society Arc. In the manga, he’s able to parry a slash from Byakuya base to base. Renji is then able to consistently push back base Byakuya with his Bankai and even tank Byakuya’s Kido attacks. The latter is impressive because Byakuya’s Kido didn’t harm his Bankai at all, meanwhile Renji can break his own Bankai, meaning his Bankai scales above Byakuya’s Kido. So, Renji scaling after obtaining his Bankai is rather simple, he scales to base Byakuya and is unquantifiably higher with his Bankai.

Ichigo

There’s a lot to talk about with Mr. Protagonist and a lot of minor scaling tidbits that need changed. Starting with the databook Souls, it is confirmed that Ichigo did in fact block the Sokyoku’s “1 million Zanpakuto power” and destroy the Sokyoku scaffold. We see this clearly in the manga too, where Ichigo blocks the true form of the Sokyoku (Kiko-Oh) and destroys the scaffold (Takka) that can withstand the Sokyoku’s power. The feat is portrayed as so impressive that it shocks top tier Captains like Soi Fon, Jushiro, Unohana, and even Yamamoto, as they probably didn’t expect a Ryoka boy to get so powerful and save the day last minute. And while Rukia is doubtful that Ichigo could perform that feat again, Ichigo is confident he can, and Rukia has barely any spiritual capabilities at this point in the story. The feats and databook statements support the notion that Ichigo’s confidence is justified, contrary to Rukia’s belief. However, let’s address the elephant in the room before talking about his scaling, is this feat an outlier?

Outliers are defined by VSBW as an event or incident that is considered to be completely and irreconcilably inconsistent with a character, entity, group, or series' normal displayed level of power. Then the page gives 5 bullet points to provide a general guideline for determining if a feat is an outlier, I will address each of them below.
  1. Is it a big jump or drop in power? If a character with several city destruction feats is shown to be able to destroy a mountain, we cannot necessarily consider it as an outlier, for the reason that the jump between tiers is not extreme enough to be so, despite the jump between energy values we attribute to them. If the character has very few feats, we can likely ignore this point.

The jump in power would be considered large; however, as this guideline states jumping tiers alone is not extreme enough a reason to deem feats outliers, especially if the character has very few feats. Considering this version of Ichigo’s only feat is blocking the Sokyoku and destroying something that can tank the Sokyoku, this would enable us to likely ignore this point entirely as per the point itself.

  1. Is it a unique or exceptional incident? If incidents of a similar level are repeated consistently over time, they are unlikely to be outliers. Usually, from the third incident onwards. If the character has very few feats, we can also likely skip this point.

This incident is not unique, in fact in the very next arc we find out that Aizen has an entire army of Espada who can chuck out 6-B (or far stronger) level nukes like it’s nothing with the GRC. Then later on you have characters performing similar caliber feats by simply grazing structures with their attacks. For example, Ulquiorra, while certainly stronger than Ichigo, fires a Cero that barely manages to graze Las Noches and is calculated at 6-B. If Aaroniero, one of the weakest Espada defeated by Rukia, is able to throw out 6-B nukes, I believe it is safe to say that 6-B feats are not exceptional in the Bleach verse, even early on.

  1. Is the event unexplained and unjustified? If an extreme incident is not accompanied by any kind of explanation that justifies it, it is probably an outlier. But if it can be explained by means of some power-up, vulnerability or limiter, it is likely not. If Superman is wounded by a bullet, it's probably an outlier. But if Superman was under the influence of red sunlight or was previously weakened with Kryptonite, it is not.

This event is very well explained within the series, and just as the point itself suggests, it is explained by means of a power-up. Ichigo has been getting stronger and stronger as he fights his way through Soul Society, raising his power to even “Captain class” by fighting Zaraki. Then, after that Ichigo spends 3 days training with Yoruichi to unlock Bankai. So, the Ichigo that arrives at Sokyoku Hill is the culmination of many power-ups through fighting stronger opponents and training. Aizen far down the line even comments how he set up Ichigo’s battles in order to make him progressively get stronger. So, going by this point, the fact that it can be explained by a power-up makes it likely not an outlier.

  1. Does the event break the previously established power-scaling? Here we must take into account a number of factors, such as comparable characters possessing feats or statements of a similar level to the hypothetical outlier, the outlier not being supported by fights that might suggest a similar level, or subsequent events or statements that contradict it in some way.

Nothing contradicts this Sokyoku scaling in any way. As I’ve already established, the Kiko-Oh is not an isolated 6-B feat in the series. Your “Aaronieros” can whip out comparable attacks. Furthermore, most characters reach High 6-A levels of power later in the next arc without the Sokyoku scaling. Needless to say, Bleach top tiers in the Soul Society Arc being 6-B doesn’t break any power-scaling.

  1. Does the event break with the narrative of the work? Many times an outlier breaks with what has been previously established or shown in a work, creating inconsistencies that are difficult to resolve unless we invalidate one of the two events. If, for example, a character claims not to be able to dodge bullets, even though he was previously seen dodging them explicitly, we are faced with a contradiction where we will probably have to resort to using the more reliable evidence.

This event doesn’t break the narrative at all, in fact Ichigo being “Sokyoku level” is a big narrative moment in the series that is used to portray Ichigo’s new strength. In fact, the entire point of Ichigo going to the Soul Society was to halt the execution, which includes stopping the Sokyoku. So, Ichigo being able to combat the Sokyoku is not only consistent with the narrative, it practically is the narrative of the rescue scene. There doesn’t exist any narrative points either that contradict this notion, and later in the SAFWY novels you have characters stated to be vastly transcending the Sokyoku’s power, far surpassing anything it can do. The narrative surrounding characters beyond the Sokyoku is very consistent.
Hopefully, it is clear to see that Ichigo scaling to the Sokyoku is not an outlier by our defined standards. On the contrary, according to the outlier page it is far more likely that this feat is explicitly not an outlier. I believe it is obvious that Ichigo scaling to the Sokyoku is not “completely and irreconcilably inconsistent” with Bleach’s normal displayed level of power. Now I will discuss Ichigo’s scaling and minor changes that come with it.

Souls tells us that Ichigo’s Shikai Getsuga is superior to Byakuya’s Shikai. Then we learn that Ichigo’s Bankai lets him continuously fight at top speed by channeling all of his Bankai power into speed. Our updated multipliers page states that multipliers must come from direct statements and cannot be deduced. Therefore, Ichigo will only receive the 5x accepted Bankai multiplier to his speed stat. However, this is not to say Ichigo’s power isn’t amped slightly by fighting at a higher speed, as it only makes sense that adding some more KE to his Spiritual Pressure mix would add some more oomph to his attacks. This is quantifiable using Byakuya’s Senkei, which as established earlier, is a 2x AP amp. So, since Ichigo can keep up with base Byakuya using his Shikai, and a Senkei Byakuya with his Bankai, he’d receive a 2x AP amp by virtue of scaling to Byakuya. The databook and manga support the notion that Bankai Ichigo can equal Senkei Byakuya as we see it shown and stated multiple times. Ichigo is consistently able to harm Byakuya as well, making this further consistent. Finally, I will talk about his partial Hollow form scaling and Ichigo’s strongest technique so far.

The databook Souls informs us that Hollow Ichigo easily crushes Byakuya’s blade and greatly surpasses the Bankai Ichigo we had just witnessed rival Byakuya. The manga corroborates this as Hollow Ichigo does more damage to Byakuya than Bankai Ichigo ever did. Ichigo then rips his mask off and condenses his Black Getsuga into his blade, and the databook refers to this as Ichigo putting all his fighting spirit into a final attack. This attack is able to match and surpass Byakuya’s final form as well.

All in all, Ichigo scaling is rather straightforward even if a bit verbose. In his Shikai state Ichigo would be 6-B for being able to both block and destroy Sokyoku level objects (Kiko-Oh and Takka). Ichigo in Shikai is able to match Byakuya in base, and even surpass Byakuya’s Senbonzakura with a Getsuga. Then with his Bankai he would get a 2x AP amp by virtue of scaling to Byakuya’s Bankai technique Senkei, which amped Byakuya’s AP twice fold, yet Ichigo kept up in Bankai. Ichigo, despite weakening to the point where he is effortlessly pierced by a low-level Kido by Byakuya, is able to surpass his Bankai power by dawning a partial Hollow mask. Finally, Ichigo is at his pinnacle of power in this arc when he condenses the Black Getsuga and all of his power into his sword for one final strike.

Komamura

Komamura has some of the most nonexistent scaling in the Soul Society Arc. His Color+ stats are the second lowest among the Captains, 100 in Attack and 50 in Spiritual Pressure for a total of 150 in AP. Then in the manga, all of his scaling is more implicative than explicit. Komamura swings his Shikai at Zaraki and exclamation marks appear near Zaraki like he’s concerned about the strike, but later we see no slash wounds indicating he took damage from that attack, we don’t see if he blocked or face tanked the attack, and worse Zaraki afterwards thinks the fight will be boring because the attack was so weak. Then Komamura steps in to block an attack from Zaraki and save Tosen. However, Zaraki was swinging the sword to put down an nigh-dead man, geared towards a Tosen that couldn’t even pierce Zaraki. The shot composition also doesn’t convey any speed of impact in Zaraki’s slice, rather it is far more likely that it was a casual slice to finish off an almost dead Tosen. To make matters worse, Komamura wears armor which absorbed some of the impact. What adds credence to the aforementioned interpretation is that Zaraki states that he’ll start going all out once he sees Komamura’s Bankai. This would imply that Zaraki was holding back when Komamura blocked the attack anyhow. However, there is one good thing for Komamura, Zaraki did seem to view Kokujo Tengen Myo as a threat that deemed him going all out and was disappointed that he couldn’t fight Komamura.

So, for Komamura’s scaling, he would scale above Soi Fon in base as his base stats scale above her’s, and his Shikai would be higher. In my opinion, Komamura’s Bankai should scale as possibly on eyepatch Zaraki’s level. This would place his Bankai above base Byakuya, as Zaraki has higher AP stats. Also, as I explained with Ichigo’s Bankai multipliers, the standards state a direct statement is required for use of multipliers, and deduction is not allowed. There is no direct statement for Kokujo Tengen Myo stating it puts all the Bankai amp into a certain stat like for Tensa Zangetsu. Therefore, Komamura will lose his Bankai multiplier.

Shunsui

Shunsui has relatively contained and simple scaling in this arc. His Color+ AP stat is a whopping 190 with a 90 Attack stat and 100 Spiritual Pressure stat, making him among the strongest Captains base to base. The Souls databook states that Shunsui and Jushiro destroyed the Sokyoku. This is seen in the manga too, as Shunsui and Jushiro put their Spiritual Energy into the Shihoin Shield which then uses that energy to ensnare the Sokyoku and snap it in two. Lastly, Shunsui and Jushiro are able to put up a “fight” against Shikai Yamamoto. Although, that is more akin to them surviving and stalling. I don’t think much stock should be put into them surviving a fight against Yama, as we later find out that Aizen caliber characters, like Yama, are capable of one-shotting Shunsui caliber characters if they wanted. It is worth noting that Yama believes Shunsui and Jushiro to be transcendent in battle and hypes them up. Needless to say, Shunsui’s stats place him solidly above base Byakuya and by extension Shikai Ichigo. Although he doesn’t have a Soul Society Arc key, just a pre-timeskip one, so we can discuss if he should have one or not.

Chad

If I told you Chad scales to the Sokyoku with a damn near suicide attack in the Soul Society Arc, I probably wouldn’t believe me either, but hear me out. Shunsui explains how Chad’s fist laser can surpass his limits at the cost of his life force. Chad before using his final attack explains how it may cost him his life, meaning he is powering his attack up to the max at the maximal cost to his life force. Finally, to put the cherry on top, Shunsui explicitly states he is glad he evaded the attack as nervous sweat drips down his face. All of this meaning that Chad with a borderline suicide, final gambit style attack is on Shunsui’s level. Which is crazy because Shunsui scales above Byakuya and by extension the Sokyoku. It’s crazy because it’s Chad, but when you understand he needs to almost kill himself to use it, it’s not that crazy.

Tosen

This is going to sound like I’m hating on Tosen, but hear me out. I’ll start with the good stuff, he has a 160 AP stat like Gin, with 70 in Attack and 90 in Spiritual Pressure. So, Tosen should get the same scaling as Gin in terms of power, which is downscaling to baseline 6-B from “Sokyoku level” characters. Now it might appear that Tosen in Shikai and Bankai should scale to Zaraki, but upon further inspection, that is not very concrete. The first feat for Tosen is with his Shikai when he impales Zaraki, however it is extremely implied that Zaraki was not going all out in that moment as he stands there and lets them get free hits in before scoffing at how weak they are. Zaraki starting the fight holding back is very in character for him as well, and as seen in the Komamura section he doesn’t say he’ll stop holding back until Komamura uses Bankai. When Tosen uses Bankai he is able to repetitively harm Zaraki, but this is a Zaraki that cannot defend against the attacks as his senses are deprived. Furthermore, Zaraki adopts a strategy of letting himself get hit to figure out where Tosen is. That being said, while Tosen certainly should not fully scale to Zaraki, I believe bypassing Zaraki’s passive durability is further support for downscaling to baseline 6-B (Zaraki scales above Byakuya at this point as will be evident soon). 160 AP stat characters being able to harm fatigued or nerfed “Sokyoku level” characters is very consistent, so Tosen definitely warrants a downscale to baseline.

Toshiro

Toshiro in the Soul Society Arc has an 80 Attack stat and a 90 Spiritual Pressure stat, for a total of 170 in AP. He’s able to casually summon large storm clouds and is touted for having the strongest ice type Zanpakuto (I guess if you’re the only notable ice user alive you’d be the strongest). He’s also able to press Gin with his Shikai and injure Gin’s arm while freezing it. Not too surprising as his stats are just above Gin’s, so Toshiro will scale to Gin.

Zaraki

Zaraki is a beast to no one’s surprise, he has a 199 Attack stat and a 0 Spiritual Pressure stat, for a whopping total of 199 in AP. Now let me explain the 0 Spiritual Pressure stat. It is not saying Zaraki has 0 Spiritual Pressure in the sense that he has no Spiritual Energy to exert, rather he doesn’t utilize his Spiritual Pressure to attack like any other character, he simply uses his brute strength. Which should come to no surprise, and we even find out that the reason his sword is chipped is due to his own uncontrolled Spiritual Pressure grating the blade. Regardless, his 199 AP stat total places him above anyone who isn’t Aizen, Unohana, or Yamamoto in this arc. Zaraki makes true to that power as he casually tanks the brunt of Komamura and Tosen’s combined Shikai attack with ease. Zaraki also strikes Tosen once and Tosen is barely staying conscious, and by the second strike Tosen’s Bankai shatters (an indicator for near death). So, Zaraki should comfortably scale above the Sokyoku after his fight with Ichigo.

Mayuri

Not much to say about Mayuri feat-wise, but his stats are impressive with 70 in Attack and 100 in Spiritual Pressure for a total 170 AP stat. This is the same as Toshiro and as such Mayuri should scale to the level of Toshiro, which would mean a baseline 6-B downscale from “Sokyoku level” characters. We already accept that Mayuri should be comparable to Toshiro, but now we have a good reason to do so. He also harms Uryu, but Uryu gets all his scaling from Mayuri, so that’s a bit circular.

Uryu

Uryu is an absolute monster. In his base he’s able to destroy Mayuri’s hand, but once he uses his Letz Stil he becomes a completely different beast. Souls tells us that his Letz Stil power is incredible enough to one shot both Mayuri and his Bankai, which we see explicitly in the manga. Furthermore, Uryu can amplify his power by 3x, placing him far beyond triple of what Mayuri can do. However, what is more insane is that Mayuri claims that Letz Stil Uryu possesses power beyond anything he’s ever seen. Now I won’t claim this puts Uryu beyond Aizen or Yamamoto or anything like that, as it is a bit of a no limits fallacy. That being said, we know Mayuri works closely with people like Zaraki as he made Zaraki’s eyepatch. So, Mayuri should have a good grasp on Zaraki’s power and other like-power Captains. Thus I am proposing that Uryu scale to Mayuri in base, far beyond him with his Letz Stil, 3x stronger with his strongest arrows, and possibly or likely scaling to the Sokyoku.

Jushiro

Jushiro has relatively contained and simple scaling in this arc. His Color+ AP stat is a whopping 190 with a 90 Attack stat and 100 Spiritual Pressure stat, making him among the strongest Captains base to base. The Souls databook states that Jushiro and Shunsui destroyed the Sokyoku. This is seen in the manga too, as Jushiro and Shunsui put their Spiritual Energy into the Shihoin Shield which then uses that energy to ensnare the Sokyoku and snap it in two. Lastly, Jushiro and Shunsui are able to put up a “fight” against Shikai Yamamoto. Although, that is more akin to them surviving and stalling. I don’t think much stock should be put into them surviving a fight against Yama, as we later find out that Aizen caliber characters, like Yama, are capable of one-shotting Shunsui caliber characters if they wanted. It is worth noting that Yama believes Jushiro and Shunsui to be transcendent in battle and hypes them up. Needless to say, Jushiro’s stats place him solidly above base Byakuya and by extension Shikai Ichigo. This is supported by Jushiro being able to hold Byakuya back from killing Ganju. Although he doesn’t have a Soul Society Arc key, just a pre-timeskip one, so we can discuss if he should have one or not.

Conclusion

To sum up the scaling chain based on the databook base stats and feats in a simple chain:

Aizen, Unohana, Yamamoto (200) > Zaraki (199) > Shunsui, Jushiro (190) > Byakuya, Ichigo, Renji (180) = Sokyoku (38.94 Teratons) > Toshiro, Mayuri, Uryu (170) > Gin, Tosen (160) = Sokyoku Downscale (7 Teratons) > Komamura (150) > Soi Fon, Yoruichi (140) = At Most Sokyoku Downscale (At Most 7 Teratons)

Specific forms or techniques that would scale in simple chains:

Bankai Byakuya’s Shukei Hakuteiken, Bankai Ichigo’s condensed Black Getsuga, Partial Hollow Bankai Ichigo > Bankai Byakuya’s Senkei, Bankai Ichigo = 2x Sokyoku (77.88 Teratons) > Shikai Ichigo’s Getsuga, Bankai Renji > Byakuya = Sokyoku (38.94 Teratons)

Possibly Bankai Komaura, Zaraki > Sokyoku (38.94 Teratons)

Chad’s Suicide Punch, Shunsui > Sokyoku (38.94 Teratons)

Possibly Uryu’s Letz Stil > Zaraki > Sokyoku (38.94 Teratons)

Uryu’s Letz Stil’s Strongest Arrows = 3x Uryu’s Letz Stil > 3x Sokyoku Downscale (21 Teratons) > Mayuri > Sokyoku Downscale (7 Teratons)

That breaks down the scaling of specific forms and multipliers that aren’t encompassed by the base scaling via the Color+ stats. Now I will highlight a few key points that I want to ensure I get people’s opinions on:
  1. Should Soi Fon get the “At most” scaling or some variant of it (possibly or likely), should she simply be rated as unknown in this arc, or another alternative?
  2. Should Shunsui and Ukitake get Soul Society Arc keys?
  3. Should Komamura’s Bankai warrant a possibly or likely scaling to Zaraki, or are the implications too vague?
  4. Should Uryu’s Letz Stil scale beyond the Sokyoku based on Mayuri’s statement or some variant of that (possibly or likely), or is that statement too vague/NLF?
Those are the four points that I believe aren’t nearly as concrete as the other scaling arguments, and I am open to hear suggestions regarding how they should be handled if you disagree with my own.

Regardless, I hope this CRT finds everyone well, please take your time in reading over each section, as I want to make this the definitive Soul Society Arc scaling to improve profiles, and lastly stay civil.

Agree: Dread, Deceived, Clover (use at most ratings instead of downscaling), Tracer (Bankai Komamura gets a likely, use at most ratings instead of downscaling, Letz Stil Uryu gets a possibly), Excel616, ZoloNotZoro, SilentBob (except Chad), IMade (but Yoruichi and Soi Fon scale, at most instead of downscale, possibly for Chad), Tyri (except Chad), AKUTO (except Chad), RandomGuy, Kachon, Mitch (direct scaling, possibly for the rest), Eseseso, Blallooo, Damage (Kokujo Tengen Myo possibly/likely Zaraki level), Shadow, Arkenis (partial ratings for Chad and Soi Fon), KLOL (thinks calc is fine, no comment on scaling), Nierre (same as Tracer, possibly/likely for Chad)

Neutral: Toboy020 (leaning agree), Damage (SS arc keys for Yama’s sons), KT (leaning disagree)

Disagree: Tracer (Soi Fon shouldn't scale at all), Damage (Soi Fon, Sokyoku level Uryu, calc is wrong), Rocker, AKM (calc is wrong, not a CGM tho)

Anyway, I read your premise and the conclusion is fine at its finest. It is logical to re-scale them all based on our new legitimate size.

I will do character by character

No, he is not. Aizen is stronger than him. The data book is flawed.
Didn’t Aizen literally make a plan based on dealing with Yamamoto in the Arrancar Arc because he couldn’t beat him directly?

Where is this said in the databook?
It's not explicitly stated, however not only is it consistent but it's logically deduced from the mechanics of the verse. Your ability to dish out damage and your AP is a factor of your spiritual pressure (the ability to exert your spirit energy) plus your raw physical strength. Aka SP + Attack.

Where is this said in the databook?
In the Bleach Color+ databook, they assign the Captains 6 stats, 2 of them are Spiritual Pressure and Attack. We know that your Spiritual Pressure contributes to your Attack Potency and logically your Attack stat would contribute to your Attack Potency as well (the databook refers to the Attack stat as your raw power, so akin to your physical strength).
Read the OP, he isn't saying it's directly stated within Color+ that AP = Spiritual Pressure + Attack. He's saying that within the series your Spiritual Pressure contributes to your AP, and so does your "attack" stat as well.

Hot take, Aizen would beat him in 1v1, and he already did, he surpasses Yama intelligence, and intelligence is one of the factors in the battle
