Of Encyclopedias and Solar Deities: A Game Sonic CRT

Hey all, it’s been a while since the last Game revision. Well, it’s time to change that. Sad to say, this one won’t be too big and controversial, as everything presented here is pretty clear cut, so no big war today. As such, let’s get started.

06 Stuff​


Solaris



As we can see from the video linked above, there are a few new abilities that Solaris and the Super Forms currently do not have on their profiles. The characters would gain the following abilities:

Solaris: *Summoning (Can summon objects from other dimensions); BFR (as stated here)
*Intangibility (his body is made of light)
*Incorporeality and Low-Godly regeneration (Upscales from Iblis and Mephiles, required attacking its consciousness to be defeated)
*Age listed as immeasurable (temporal omnipresence would make the conventional notion of age inapplicable to him)

Iblis: Incorporeality and Low-Godly regeneration (true form is made of energy, which it can generate a body from)

Mephiles: Incorporeality and Low-Godly regeneration (is not a material being, can manifest a corporeal form)

(Also applies to their Archie versions where they’re even outright referred to as being spirits).

Silver: Paralysis?(Not sure what to call this power) (Can trap opponents with his Shield of Light)

Shadow: Can close Solaris’s dimensional portals with his Spear of Light

Super Forms

An obvious update that’s long overdue. Super Forms by default should have purely immeasurable lifting strength. The Chaos Emeralds are already accepted as the strongest objects in the verse (save for the Super and Master Emeralds), placing them well above the World Rings, which have immeasurable lifting strength themselves.


Holy Manipulation

Per the Holy Manipulation page, The Chaos Emeralds, and as a result Super Forms, fit most, if not all of the uses to qualify for Holy Manipulation.

Empowerment: Super Forms

Healing: Already on the Emeralds’ page that they can heal users

Holy Artifacts: The Emeralds are considered the ultimate source of power in the verse already

Light Manipulation: Super forms users possess this ability

Miracles: The Emeralds are verbatim stated to be able to perform miracles

Encyclopedia Stuff​


Part 1 - New Additions

Low 2-C Excalibur

The biggest reason why Excalibur is 3-A was due to it being unknown whether time was involved in Merlina’s plot to fuse the universe with the Underworld. Well, the Sonic Encyclopedia does indeed solidify it was indeed a Space-Time event due to Merlina’s goal being to freeze all of time in the process of stopping King Arthur’s end. As such, both Merlina and Excalibur should be upgraded to Low 2-C instead.

Tails’ Cyclone and Eggman’s Egg Walker

Both have a shield.

Dark Gaia

Would get Corruption. Scan verbatim states it

Time Eater

Time Eater is getting upgraded to full on immeasurable. It’s blatantly stated the Super Sonics
flew through time in their battle against TE, and he’s clearly seen reacting to their attacks. Tails also implied that their battle extended across different dimensions in what appears to be the timestream that both Sonics travel into in order to communicate with his friends in modified transceivers. So Time Eater gets upgraded and Super Sonic(s) get a supporting Immeasurable feat.

Knuckles Chaotix

This game is actually confirmed canon, so the Chaotix get Classic Keys.

Devil Doom

Confirmation that Black Doom used the Chaos Emeralds to transform, thus making Devil Doom an official Super Form.

Chaos Emeralds

Pocket Reality Manipulation (The Chaos Emeralds can split the world into several pocket realities)

Chaos Control is a reality warping skill and allows it’s user to control the fabric of the universe. The Emeralds themselves are stated to be able to perform miracles and amplify the extent of this power, as such, it should be re-added into Sonic’s profile and every other character who are shown the capability to use it.

Resistance to Acid/Corrosion for Heroes cast?

Poison frogs and Slime Djinn

Eggman’s Army

One of Eggman’s machines has Plasma Manip.

Metal Sonic

Has the skills of every fighter in Sonic the Fighters, which would apply to his Classic Era key for anything of note.

Part 2 - Chronicles Removal

Sonic Chronicles

Alas, everything related to Chronicles will have to be removed from the profiles, as it is officially considered non-canon by Sega. This would include:
  • Chaos Spear Dura Neg
  • Knuckles Upper Cut Dura Neg
  • Shadow’s Chaos Rift
  • Life Force Absorption from Nocturne Blade
  • Super Rush ability from Sonic’s profile
  • Every Chao related ability that is currently listed on Sonic’s optional equipment tabber and other characters considered users of it, which includes probability manipulation and other abilities / resistances granted from their usage.

Also sort of disagree with the pocket reality aspect, Eggman more likely just split the world into pieces like in Unleashed.

Rest seems okay, although I wonder why the Chaos Emeralds are put above the World Rings despite having no direct comparison.

Edit: Is there anything about miracles in the Japanese version, the English version made a lot of changes and it doesn’t seem fair to pick and choose what to keep from each.

Yes, considering travelling through time through movement alone is a green flag indicator of Immeasurable

Not to be rude, but why don't you go searching for yourself if you're that anal about not using the English version of dialogue from the games? This is ignoring the fact that a fair amount of Sonic games (about half or so) were released in English prior to a JP release, voiding the idea that English scripts for the games can't be used at all. And THAT is on top of the fact that everything else brought up about Holy Manipulation is valid and would be enough to qualify for it anyways.

But the thing is, Sonic isn’t traveling through time against TE. He’s just moving around in a space referred to as “the end of time”.

Agree with the miracle stuff, neutral on pocket realities ig.

Is there a direct comparison between the World Rings and Chaos Emeralds outside of just Sonic referring to the latter as unlimited and infinite power, and not the World Rings?
 
Yes, the scan says he flies through the end of time.
That doesn’t mean he was flying through to the end of time, he could have just been moving around in a space that was at the end of time.
 
Once they enter the TE’s lair they are, for all intents and purposes, at the end of time. And Sonic got there through White Space, not flying.

These 2+Chaos Blast statistic reduction were taken care off a few months ago. Shouldn't Sonic's Atomic Strike, Axe Kick & Whirlwind be on the list too? Other than that, great job!

Have fun lowering the values your EC blog if that's the case then. Shouldn't we use who made the original script to says which version takes precedance? There're more things than just writing the story that can cause the games release date to be pushed. Also Iizuka was the writer & Yuji Naka was producer of that game so...

I looked and found the miracles thing earlier, I’m sorry.

Immeasurable seems shaky though, even if TE has layered time hax.

Yes, of course. As is with the other Chronicles stuff, those will be removed. Those just weren't tacked on the list when this was typed up.

So basically the TE argument is, saying that in the cutscene prior the Sonics flew through to the end of time, and that’s where the boss fight began?
 
Personally iffy about the Immeasurable feat(s) for TE, but other than that I'm fine with everything else.

Did you read the immeasurable speed reasoning? They weren't in the end of time when they entered. This is made obvious when Super Sonic's fight Time Eater and enter a different dimension as confirmed by Tails stating they made transceivers that work across different dimensions. In addition, the scan states they FLEW through the end of time TO DESTROY THE MECHANICAL MONSTER. That means they only traveled to the end of time after they went Super and pursued Time Eater. They weren't at the end of time to begin with. That's why during the fight he's in a different dimension (Presumably time as they're moving through time).
 
I don’t think them saying they flew through the end of time automatically should equate to “they only reached the end of time after the fight started”, the end of time could just be a general location the entire arena occupied, which contains multiple dimensions, and the quotes would remain true.

Although I guess you raise a good point, since when characters time traveled in ‘06 that supposedly sent them to a new timeline. Are you implying that’s what’s happening here? That Sonic went to a different dimension by traveling to the end of time?

This whole "they already were in the end of time" is pure cope for me. Nothing indicates that's the case plus it would go against the clear intention to what Flynn wrote in the encyclopedia. It's just spouting "what ifs". Worst case scenario just ask Flynn in his podcast

Not really. The wording does actually make it come off as they're already in the end of time and they're flying through it. If it said "to" instead of "through", then I wouldn't have much issue it, as that would mean they weren't there before but now they are.

But yeah, unless we ask Flynn on his podcast if they were already in it or not, I don't think it's usable for Immeasurable.
