All Pokemon Professor are the ones who truly control the entire World from shadows. They use kids to capture pokemons to be able to have data for their researches. The population of the World is indoctrinated to believe that what they do is a game/a championship where they fight for the title of "the strongest" but that's just a facade to motivate adults/children. How do you think they are able to make everyone parents make them let their children go at that age in the World to fed for themselves. It's something that has been rooted in their very being.
The number of children that have died for this thing is ludicrous but they are too indoctrinated to see it. How many of them could have survived in a forest of pokemons? How many of them could have survived being hit the pokemons attack?
There may have been those who realized that. They may have tried to show it to the World but they disappeared mysteriously. There may have been some Pokemon Professor who also realized that (those younger who just started or weren't for a long time in this position) but when they tried to talk to their "friends" Pokemon Professors they were betrayed and taken care of.
Why do you think also they want so hard to catch the Legendary Pokemons? Its to be able to comprehend/learn/research them to see how they work, how they have those abilities.
How can some type of animals rule above Humans? How is that possible? Could Humans accept that? No, they couldn't accept so they created this indoctrination to be able to complete their agenda.
They want to create weapons using them (they already have - trained pokemons for fights and childs to soldiers without them knowing), but their true goal is the Project Apoptheois - the elevation of the status of man to Godhood.

A middle-age man with a midlife crisis, decided to aimed for the Pokémon League and became a Pokémon Master, but that's just a side goal. His true goal was to travel the world with his beloved Pokémon and have an adventure. Come look now for a matured adventurous slice of life.

Today's Pokemon world is peaceful...but it isn't always been so.
In ancient time, where the world is wild and untamed...Pokemon fight against each other for supremancy, literally going on each other's throat just for survival.
It was brutal, it was merciless, it's heartless...and one such pokemon, unknown and forgotten by time, thrive in it, and became it king.
This is a story of this unknown Pokemon, who once was the king of this world.

I imagine it sort of like the original pokemon real life movie they were trying to make where pokemon exist in the real world but battles are exclusively made into underground death matches and dog fights where people bet money on it rather than having it be like it is in the games and anime
