While I think Artorias is stronger and more durable, Mihawk seems to be way smarter and more versatile, with the precog giving him quite the edge. I'd also risk saying he is a bit more skilled, but not sure though.
As much as I prefer Dark Souls, I think Mihawk takes this with hard diff, but decisively so.

I feel sad that I switched from inconclusive to mihawk now artorias gets no love.
