Jaws as an iconic character

Shouldn't the shark get placed into the iconic category? After all, few haven't heard of the Jaws movie. It's a classic, and it's the most well known of all shark movies. The theme is extremely recognizable, and it has one of the most memorable misquotes in all of cinema (We're gonna need a bigger boat, which is actually You're gonna need a bigger boat.) The shark should be comparable to Indiana Jones and Willy Wonka in regards to how iconic it is.

I don't think that something that amounts to little more than a plot device qualifies as an iconic character. In addition, it is likely not long-lasting or popular enough.
