There is nothing stopping the author from rewriting history and fitting the events of our world into the time frame of the universe. Itagaki has done this many times. So your point about military bases is actually irrelevant and I’m surprised you even brought it up.

What about Baki's mom who is just fine? Also Baki was in the middle of an attack, I woudl assume that would have more to do with it.
