Final Fantasy Discussion Thread

And how exactly did he do so ? What scan proves he sent them through different dimensions ? The existence of different monsters is something the devs do literally most if not all the time. It’s simply paying homage
Because the characters he recreated from the crystals are literally from other dimensions

Right now the ff1-6 worlds are treated as being in the same universe which the lufenians in SOP contradict
I agree, however magic is treated as having similar fundamentals in 1-6 and some other games because of Gilgamesh, which means the ratings would stay unchanged

At least you agree but lol, I’ve always had problems with using “Gilgamesh” as the sole argument when there are better ones like the forces of light and darkness being a type 2 concept that exists in all worlds and cover most spells. The verse terribly needs rework is all I would say for now

Why are you constantly saying “the games are in separate dimensions”? That doesn’t contradict the Creator still making the crystals and sending them to the other worlds. The fact he has knowledge of every boss enemy from all 6 games with the cast talking about them doesn’t refute the fact he has knowledge on them, so stop saying that it being in separate dimensions contradicts it when it doesn’t. Especially when through 5 he has access to the interdimensional rift/Void, which has access to alternate dimensions in the first place.

Are you just going to ignore the contradictions ? There are simply too many to claim definitively that he created the crystals. The more consistent origin is that they become sentient and form in the void. There are even worlds where it's explicitly stated that beings create them but one thing that's evident is that they share the same properties and concepts: maintaining the balance between light and darkness, controlling the elements, and serving as a source for protagonists and others to grow stronger plus, the notion FF1-6 exist in the same universe, the basis that upgraded the creator as the maker of the crystals has largely been retconned or maybe it wasn’t even given thought, as I've been pointing out repeatedly but It's inevitable for things to be changed in video games, especially when there are numerous plot holes. That should address the argument about monsters from other worlds; it was simply changed.
Also, gods of various worlds can create monsters that appear in other games, some even appear naturally. So it's not particularly unique now.

At this point you should make a CRT

Final part of the VII revisions bunch:

is it okay if i revamp the Gilgamesh and Kain Highwind profiles? I don't want to steal somebody's thunder.

Been going through Opera Omnia since they released the story on Youtube. I don't understand some things because I haven't played many other FF games but I found some cool upgrades for the FF7 characters

Sephiroth also dominates everyone else, however Zack, Angeal and Cloud are able to block his attacks so they're still comparable to him, just noticeably weaker. Sephiroth's forcefield can no-sell attacks from them as well. Weiss beats Sephiroth but this is before the amp (and Weiss states he felt weaker than usual). He can also use a weaker version of Meteor that is much smaller and doesn't take forever to land

Interesting. What did he use to amp himself?

I recall Sephirth using the Black Materia all the way back to Dissidia 2008. I remember how excited I was that you could actually use it in proper combat and how it was among the many references to the original game.

In the late game, just before the final chapter, he absorbs Materia's crystal which was sustaining the existence of the world. After he finishes draining it, the world started crumbling apart. Before this he's able to block Cloud and Angeal's attacks with his forcefield and they can't beat him. After this amp, Cloud kills Sephiroth the same way he did back in the ending of FF7 with his limit break, but this time, Sephiroth wasn't badly injured in a prior fight and is undoubtedly the strongest version of Sephiroth from the OG timeline

Garland follows this up by getting a enormous Amp from the Crystal in accordance to his wish for Eternal conflict to the point he can one shot everyone including WoL and Jack Garland, his previous equals

It's also stated that the Crystal Core transferred authority of the World from Materia & Spiritus over to Garland
You didn't add the timestamp

Garland follows this up by getting a enormous Amp from the Crystal in accordance to his wish for Eternal conflict
Wait I thought the amp didn't follow through because his wish wasn't granted or something? Maybe I'm mistaking that with Ultimecia or someone else, did you have a scan/clip with the timestamp?

he can one shot everyone including WoL and Jack Garland, his previous equals
Yeah he one shotted Jack, though I think its unclear if he one shot WoL, they made the screen fade to black without showing how the quick battle went or how many attacks it was, and we heard a few sword strikes. Still strong enough to block his attacks and defeat him though

46:54

Garland's wish was granted because it was inline with the Crystals own will for the world 34:27 Ultimecia & Jegran were rejected for their selfish wishes, albeit they were still able to siphon energy from it like Sephiroth did Materia's

Granted that second clip is after they all start receiving their Crystals which radically amp them as they did in OG Dissidia and keep in mind the characters all grow stronger in accordance to their strength of will

The last CRTs for Tactics got approved so Ramza's and Ultima's profiles got update.

Made a CRT for Sephiroth's profile update and one last addition:

Sooooo... added a pretty big list of feats on the calc request thread. I'm gonna leave them here as well if anyone has a spare minute and can help out with them, given how slowly the calc request thread moves:

Priority: 2 (Affects all characters in the low tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: Units can block/dodge lightning
Note: The above clip is from the War of the Lions version of the game on the PSP, which has a noticeable slowdown during battle animations. Here are the spells in proper speed in the original PSX version of the game. I made the clip above to show the character properly blocking the spell.

Priority: 2 (Affects all characters in the low tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: The Shockwave ability can rend the ground.
Note: PSX version clip. (Can LS be obtained from this as well?)

Priority: 2 (Affects all characters in the low tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: Blizzaga creates a large block of ice, which units can block.
Note: PSX version of the clip. (Maybe creating the ice block can be AP and blocking it be LS?)

Priority: 2 (Affects all the mid tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: Titan upheaves the battlefield.
Note: PSX version of the clip.

Priority: 2 (Affects all the mid tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: Leviathan creates a massive tidal wave that deluges the battlefield.
Note: PSX version of the clip.

Priority: 2 (Affects all the mid tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: Bahamut's Megaflare nukes the battlefield.
Note: The Megaflate is consistently described as a nuclear explosion in the Final Fantasy series. PSX version of the clip.

Priority: 2 (Affects all the mid tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: Meteor calls forth a large meteorite to crash into the battlefield.
Note: PSX version of the clip.

Priority: 2 (Affects all the mid tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: Dragoons perform massive jumps.
Note: Could be used as a Lifting Strength feat?

Priority: 1 (Affects all the high tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: The Astrologer's Celestial Stasis halts the movement of stars.
Note: Description of the ability and of the Astrologer itself and the Astrology Command.

Priority: 1 (Affects all the high tiers)
Verse: Final Fantasy Tactics
Feat: Ultima Demons chaotically move the stars in the sky with their Almagest ability.
Note: Statement detailing the ability. Can be used for Lifting Strength or Speed?

Finally got myself a PS5 and FFVII Rebirth so I can actually tackle that. Also trying Ever Crisis because why not.

Also decided to play FFXII, managed to get it for Switch a few days ago.

Do you have clips of every single ability/spell Cloud is able to use in Tactics?

As in every ability he can learn from every job class he has access to? Not currently, given all characters have access to every job in the game save for some exceptions.

I could record a vid of Cloud using all the abilities in the game, but it would take a good while (there are easily 100+ abilities in the game). Though would it be really necessary? He has access to everything except for the Squire job (which is replaced by his unique SOLDIER class), Dancer (only girls can use this class) and unique jobs, which are character dependant (only Orlandeau can be a Sword Saint, Beowulf a Templar, Agrias and Delita Holy Knights, Balthier a Sky Pirate and in Cloud's case a SOLDIER).

Funnily enough I actually found a lore reason on why and whether Cloud should have access or not to his Tactics abilities.

Sorry, sorry, sorry

Well, Tactics characters don't have official heights, but I do have something: Balthier is officially 1.83 mts, Cloud is 1.77 mts, while Ramza seems to be the same height as Vaan as seen in this video, who is 1.70 mts. I figured (could be wrong though), that since units can fill inside a single battlefield tile lying down with their arms extended, we could consider them 2x2 mts. each?

And, uh... really, really, really man, thanks. Once again I owe you a lot.

EDIT: This is why I counted the tiles at the end of the video, to try to get an estimate of the size of the battlefield if that was of any help. The video description has the sizes and height.

What's this reason?
The presence of Mist in Ivalice. A form of energy that can be found on all places in the world, from the atmosphere, to the land, which living beings can gather in their bodies. Magick is simply the most common way of harnessing Mist, though different arts can also employ it, each having different principles and all. Some creatures don't really need Mist in the atmosphere and can simply use the one they have in their bodies or produce it themselves, like the Lucavi/Scions of the Dark. In that regard, since the Planet doesn't have Mist, Cloud can't use Magick or Technicks that need it, since unlike Scions or Ramza (who is shown in Dissidia to be able to use Magick and other skills without external Mist) he can't just create it on his own.

In this regard, whether Cloud is allowed to use his Tactics stuff or not in a VS thread would simply depend if he's given access to Mist.

much appreciated and no prob, I still need to feed myself by doing calcs for verses I support or else I don't feel right. also this is quite the workload for one person alone

Just finished watching a playthrough of Before Crisis. Is the game even canon? The protagonist Shotgun appears during the Nibelheim incident even though we see in Crisis Core that no other Turk was at the mako reactor during Zack's mission.

Also I could be wrong because I haven't played Rebirth, but Cissnei goes missing after entering the Planet's core to fight Zirconiade, and only re-appears at the epilogue. I heard she appears in Rebirth so that may be a contradiction?
