Final Fantasy 16 discussion thread

Also just to ask again the experts, Clive i understood is from before his final fight in 16 according to his official and given he got bo profile, how powerful is he from that point he received an isekai?

Love how the funny medieval era man is chilling in modern day NYC asking what cosplay is, peak collab I fear.

Small Country level, can get up to Multi-Continent level if he fuses with his brother (Although how high is up to debate, at bare minimum he's 600+ petatons via scaling above the standard surface wipe but given how comically large just a pair of continents in his world are you could get higher via a bigger planet size but it's unquantifable)

Thought he would be higher then this given he is a FF character

Well he gets a comically large boost during the final fight, he goes from small country level to dogwalking the man who can create and warp dimensions that exist beyond time and space. Closer in line with what you'd expect from an endgame FF character, shame about his speed being a lot lower than other FF characters on that level but just like with FF15 I'm sure Square will do a bullshit canon crossover with other FF characters that boosts everyone in the game to 2-A and Massively FTL+

We still need like 3 calcs accepted (been up for eval for a while), and a Clive profile as well

what hax does clive have by the end of the game
Like everything basically, he's got everyone's kit and ultimas power absorbed of course his own supernatural will power is a level above everyone elses

@Cyberblader90 this is everything so far, he'll at worst get everything from the dominants section

Wind, fire, earth, light, darkness, water, ice, lightning manipulation
time freezing, spatial cutting, etc

Barnabas should get spatial cutting on his page

Awesome, with that I can kick into gear this week and finish off Dion and Ultimas profiles (Only thing they'll be missing for the moments is gifs to go alongside their notable attacks / techniques sections, trying to make gifs that the wiki will actually let me upload is hard given the crazy attacks destroy the bitrate so bad you can't tell what tf is even happening in them esspecially shrunk down)

I recommend using Giphy, and Make a GIF for high quality GIF's, and EZgif, Imgflip afterwards to decrease the file size of them. They've done wonders for me for the profiles I've been making.

Isn't it amazing that most characters in FFXVI range from pretty good to really great, including those who aren't particulary developped like Annabella or appear only for a short time like Lesage or Benedikta...and then you have Kupka who is only really memorable in any way because he's Titan but as a character, he fails?

Yeah every aingle one of them almost had like kilometers to tens of kilometers in range at worst , Titan in his normal state is the odd one out even with his stone throw

I've gotta be honest, I at least found Hugo more memorable than Jill.

I don't think she's a bad character by any means, early on I thought she was very good. But then after the events of Creag Loisgte she doesn't really do anything or have a lot of character moments. There's a joke from vinesauce when vinny played the game where he and chat would react to the emotional moments of the second half of the game by saying "And Jill was there too" which sums it up for me, when Clive and Joshua hug at the end of the Bahamut boss battle and have their big emotional reunion I forgot Jill was even there until the camera cut to her.

Yeah, Jill really needed more moments in the base game. It also doesn't help that only Clive, Joshua, and Dion go to the Final Battle, like...you don't think for Dominants give better odds than three? Jill didn't completely lose her dominant status.

Plus...like the Ultima's the only real threat to the hideaway at the end point. So there's no real reason for her not to come along. The people of the Hideaway aren't complete scrubs that rely on the Dominants for protection either.

Not going to act like Jill is great or anything, clearly she isn't (I'm not even going to try to compare her to Tifa or Aerith, it would be a complete massacre). But at least she's a fully-fledged character. She's brave, gentle and sympathetic to most people but also full of doubts, traumatized by her experiences, isn't above the desire for revenge and even outright murder against those who have wronged her if angry enough, to almost visceral degrees. She should have appeared more often and have more showings of power as Shiva but her writing is good enough that she actually feels as a fully-fledged character with her own struggles and feelings and who is more than the hero's girlfriend.

Hugo is basically the opposite. His showings of power are some of the most spectacular in the game, his boss fight is amazing, his themes are excellent and his designs (his own and Titan's) are neat and make for a pretty cool villain. But in terms of writing and in practice, there's nothing really interesting about him. The promo, files and so on insist he's a near genius buisnessman who runs the Republic almost flawlessly and an excellent tactician but in the game proper, he's just a brute who gets easily manipulated by the real villains (and Annabella) and the only depths he shows are sincerely loving Benedikta and being a good fighter. His rivalry with Clive is entirely based on Benedikta's death and Barnabas playing him like a fiddle, there's no deeper meaning like you could find between Cloud and Sephiroth or Noctis and Ardyn. His entire character is just "He's in love with Benedikta" and nothing more or even a motivation of his own, he doesn't even get a scene where his base personality is on display like him enjoying a meal (no, the post-sliced hands scene doesn't count since he isn't in his right mind) or in his everyday running the politics of the Republic. It's just Benedikta and that's pretty much it.

You could say that Akashic spreading until Ultima and Origin are destroyed are a pretty big problem for the world so a good fighter like her could be youseful. Plus, Clive needed to take her power to be able to properly deal with Ultima (Ultima was trying to make him his vessel after all, if you think about it that means he would try to get rid of the others as quickly as possible both to remove enemies and to break Clive's spirit but he wouldn't attempt to destroy Clive until the very end, unwittingly giving him an opening to attack him so Clive having Shiva's powers would only give him more of a chance to take down Valiesthea's god).

But yeah, I agree she should have had more screen time.
