Dragon Ball Super Discussion Thread 100

What was that wiki with the weird scaling for db and manga renders for the characters? Codex wiki?
Ye

i just realised, since Super Hero takes place 1 year before the final chapter of Z............then, this means that we are currently approaching in canon the canonical ending of the series.........how can we continue from there? do a GT 2.0?

Ye
thanks, man these look crisp

Something interesting I found. The effective creator/godfather of the animanga medium called Toriyama his successor.

Apparently, Toriyama was sick since Last Year.

This explains a LOT. Why he collaborated with Iyoku for CC, why he personally involved himself with Daima (he’s never gotten involved with Anime projects before), the 3 month Hiatus Toyo went on, etc. etc. A lot of the drama can be explained by Toriyama literally doing his best to pass on his Legacy.

Now, none of this is confirmed—For all we know, it’s total coincidence that those events happened alongside his decling health. But I’d like to think that the man infamous for not having a plan realized, before he passed, he’d need to invest one. Just this once.

Dude was so tuff it took a year for that to take him down.

Should've known he was built different. He created sagas, not arc.

Toriyama made the most popular transformation in fiction because he wanted to save ink by not coloring in Goku's hair.

And it was the hardest shit you've ever seen

While one might consider this to be a bold claim, I believe whole heartedly that there is not a single moment in anime history, both old and new, that will EVER match Goku's first transformation as a Super Saiyan. Like no cap, this is hands down one of the most iconic moments in Eastern media as a whole

Man. There are news stations reporting it, politicians making announcements, even the Chinese government mourned his passing. Beautiful tributes everywhere. This man's work quite literally transcended race, ideologies, culture, any and all boundaries to inspire the hearts of everyone across the globe. Sincerely, the magnitude and impact of his legacy is so vast and deep that it eludes description.

Honestly I still struggle to come to terms with it. Even while reading a post or video title about it, it's so surreal that my mind tricks me into thinking it was just me having a dream or something. Like I can't fathom it. Obviously I knew he would've died eventually, but it was just so sudden. The reaper doesn't care much for that though.

The reaper doesn't care much for that though.
I don't know why, but this part of your comment reminded me of a quote that Terry Pratchett said in regards to the character of Death:

"Despite rumor, Death isn't cruel - merely terribly, terribly good at his job."

The way I rationalize it, the reaper relieved Toriyama of the pain he was experiencing from his Subdural Hematoma and guided him to the next step of his journey. It's a tragedy that he passed away sooner then many of us would've wanted it to happen, but I at least hope Akira was met with a friendly and kind face to see him off.

Let's help finish this crt that has been open for a while?

Wondering what about the canon now. Is toyotaro the primary informant now?
So this is what I believe is going to happen in regards to canon now that Toriyama has passed away: So obviously we know Shueisha and Toyotaro are going to be the ones handling the manga side of DB, as Shueisha are the ones who own the rights to Dragon Ball's manga licensing while Toyotaro will continue the helm as author of the manga.

Meanwhile Capsule Corporation Tokyo, run by executive producer and former editor of the Dragon Room, Akio Iyoku, will be the ones who handle the anime and video game side of things (likely in collaboration with Toei since they're still the ones who own the license to the anime license and distribution of it) when it comes to Dragon Ball. Now we don't know for certain if Toriyama's son will be involved in the making of the stories of said DB media, but I imagine that he will be in charge of the estate his father left behind unless someone else has been chosen.
