Dragon Ball Super Discussion Thread 100

"As I wrote in a previous Twitter post and in a series of columns, the relationship between these two in Sonic 2 was created based on the image of Piccolo and Gohan.
Therefore, without the work Dragon Ball, the relationship between these two would not exist today.
Thank you very much, Mr. Toriyama."

Toriyama wasn't just for the world of anime, his art and inspiration was for the world of art at large. Rest in Peace to one of the most influential mangaka of all time.

Here in Brazil, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, there's only Akira, literally feminists on Twitter are upset, because of Akira taking away his moment to shine

Here the whole of Brazil is in mourning
It's exactly the same thing in France.
Almost all French Influencers/Youtubers and Streamers have reacted. Everyone here is upset
Even our president spoke on Twitter and Tiktok

The last manga fight or scene Toriyama at least helped bring to life was Goku vs Gohan which is kind of amazing

So many beautiful tributes and art everywhere. I'm hoping that a final Dragon Ball movie is made to honor him. A really good one.

I'm guessing (and hoping) that Toyotaro will go on hiatus for a little bit, presuming he even does continue the manga. I'm sure he will at least finish the current arc for Toriyama, and hell maybe another one, but it might be the final one (for real, this time). At least a month long break, but I'd probably take a few in his shoes.

But even if the creation of Dragon Ball content ends in, say, a couple years, its impact on the world and in the entire realm of fictional media is eternal, and Toriyama has immortalized himself within this legacy.

I sound like a broken record but Dragon Ball's effect is just so profound that I feel like it needs to be described in a way that I can't describe right.

There are more fans of Dragon Ball in China alone than there are people in the United States of America. I'm confident there are at least over a billion fans of Dragon Ball across the world. In all countries and throughout all cultures. I have literally, NEVER, seen a fictional story or character with so much love and respect and admiration and inspiration, as Dragon Ball. I still cannot believe that he's truly gone.

At work today, in a city so completely disconnected from Japan and its culture that an alien would question if it was the same planet, at a workplace absolutely unattached to the realm of fiction, let alone animation, I still saw people wearing Dragon Ball related outfits in honor of his passing. People sad hearing the news. Like, there are no words that can express what a monumental achievement that is. It goes beyond a "fanbase". Dragon Ball is apart of a global community of people, larger than any nation in the world.

I hope he understands how beloved his work is and that he will live on eternally in the pages of history. Japan outta make a statue for him tbh. Even China's government treats his passing with the same respect as that of a national leader...

É exatamente a mesma coisa na França.
Quase todos os Influenciadores/Youtubers e Streamers franceses reagiram.Todos aqui estão chateados
Até o nosso presidente falou no Twitter e no Tiktok
Akira became an eternal guy across the planet, he will always be remembered by many for being the father of anime and manga, i don't know why women react like this, since every year they have their day, but a man cannot have his day that they already complains about.

It can’t be understated. Even Mario (as stated by Miyamoto himself) was inspired by Toriyama (specifically Arale/Dr. Slump), and so without him Nintendo wouldn’t have the most iconic character in gaming.

Pokémon straight ripped designs/were inspired by Dragon Quest, whose whole visual can be attributed to Toriyama. DQ also established basically the entirety of the JRPGs. Meaning without Tori, there’s no Pikachu or literally any other JRPG.

And that’s just big guys, and explicitly mentioned stuff. There’s things like Kirby’s house, some of the bots in Megaman, etc. etc. Culture, not just POP Culture, but CULTURE, has been entirely shifted at a conceptual level thanks to one man, a pen, and a few pages.

Tori-Bot with all his creations gets 1-B?

It occurs to me—Due to Dr. Slump acknowledging Dragon Quest as a connection between them, and Toriyama “manipulated their world,” wouldn’t he scale above stuff in Dragon Quest?
I believe so, Tori-Bot also climbs above DBH and everything he is entitled to

So like for the recently dlc from Kakarot with
SSJ3 Goku and SSJ2 Vegeta
with what Vegeta did is the same thing
Trunks did in the Super manga with his bout with Goku?
