Dragon Ball: Infinite Universe

That is dialogue from the official FUNimation English translation (not to be confused with the localization/dubbing). That character style is unique to Crunchyroll's streaming services.

銀河だけでもバカ広いのにそんな銀河がとんでもない数あるくらい宇宙は広いのだぞ! → "The galaxy alone is ridiculously wide, but the universe is so vast that there are an unbelievable number of such galaxies!"

"とんでもない" is used to describe the number of galaxies, which translates into "unthinkable; unexpected; outrageous; offensive".
"The universe is so big that there are an unbelievable number of such galaxies, even though the galaxies alone are ridiculously large!"

Here in the translation it is like this

If it’s crunchy roll it’s valid I’m not sure though

Unthinkable amount of galaxies or an unbelievable amount of galaxies is consistent with the anime saying countless so even if you use either one it still gives the same message dk what the point of that is
this is literally the official viz translation

Jaco is asking a rhetorical question to imply that there are alot of galaxies, not infinite

This is from the manga, from the anime it is a little more different, in some other languages it quotes being infinite in the anime.

why would countless be talking about infinite in that context
it can just mean that there is A LOT

also infinite can also mean very great in amount

This doesn’t prove there’s a finite amount nor an infinite amount it just says that one galaxy is big and asks Bulma if she even knows how many galaxies are in the universe
well some people were using this as a proof of infinite

i keep seeing alot of infinitely expanding scans.

"If we assume the universe is infinite, then it's not really expanding into anything. Because the universe's size is already infinite, its size can't increase. So essentially, if the universe is of infinite magnitude, it cannot possibly be expanding into anything."

How is the db universe infinite if it is literally expanding??

The galactic illuminations are expanding and the darkness is expansive

Bruhh, there is like three statements in the guidebook, 1 is infinitely expanding, 2 is infinite space of light and darkness, 3 is endless space; not just only the infinitely expanding.

Also for peoples who argued that infinitely expanding contradict something that is infinite then no lol, infinite isn't a number, it mean no end, something which already infinite can still continue to increases, expand its size/length/etc....

Anyway, i always agree with infinite universe for DB, but for someone for participated in so many topic about this, i'm tired
.

Yes. this is whats being contested.

No. i looked this up and google disagrees

I agree with this. The thread has gotten pretty messy so I only read chunks of it, but I noticed many scans which describe it as expanding. I don't see how that could possibly be the case if it is infinite. And given the propensity for words like "endless" to be hyperbolic, I am inclined to lean in favor of the scans against an infinite universe.

Vietthai is wrong since as Pineapple explained and what is on the first page and OP there’s a scan saying there’s an infinite light and darkness and then on the next page it tells us the galactic illuminations are infinitely expanding and there’s a darkness beyond the stars where light can’t reach.
Can we please not repeat stuff already addressed in the first page? There’s a reason this crt is 5 pages long

so its contradictory? it literally says infinite light and darkness and then it says infinitely expanding 💀
you cant have both at the same time

just want to say that there is no greater darkness around the universe when we see it from outside

I mean there should be atleast enough evidence for a possibly rating for Super.

Uh yes, sorry for late reply. As per our default standards, we assume that multiverse exist in a insignificant higher Dimensional (5D) space that can makes Universe looks smaller from outside, that's why Universe in ben 10 was long accepted to be Infinite even though we had seen it from outside, as how we see existence from outside can be different than how we see it from inside. That's why multiverse with each Universe being Infinite is possible.

It’s not contradictory the light is finite but expanding the darkness is beyond this light and infinite
No. The scan clearly says infinite space of light and darkness and yet its infinitely expanding at the same time. wtf. Its in the OP

Which scan says that?
Read the op
No. The scan clearly says infinite space of light and darkness and yet it’s infinitely expanding at the same time. wtf.
The infinite universe is filled with light and darkness but the darkness is the only infinite one and the illuminations are infinitely expanding and beyond this illuminations countless unknown monsters lurk dk what’s confusing

Read the op
The op makes a similar claim but I don't actually see the evidence?

"This Daizenshuu scan refers to what we're calling the 'Observable Universe' here, it talks about an infinitely expanding light but with darkness that still dwells before it, and creatures that live there. This is the section where the Four Kaio govern their own associated cardinal direction holding countless galaxies."

It says "it talks about ..." but the translation given doesn't mention anything like this.

That is not a contradiction rather than a just a stylistic depiction of the universe...
it is showing how the universe looks like, if the evidence for it to be infinite is an Darkness so big that the light is infinitesimal in comparison(which is what the darkness being infinite would mean) then a visual contradicting it is a very strong evidence against it

The infinite universe is filled with light and darkness but the darkness is the only infinite one and the illuminations are infinitely expanding and beyond this illuminations countless unknown monsters lurk dk what’s confusing
the scan straight up doesn't say that, show me when it says that the darkness specifically is the infinite thing

Even if it was just the universe infinitely expanding. We have so much more evidence of the universe just straight up being infinite that just one scan of saying infinitely expanding would be the one discarded.
this would depends on what it is said in the main cannon, we have statements from bulma contradicting it, and we are currently waiting translations about another statement by shenron, it would be best if we waited

as I said on the first page, most stuff from DBZ era is blatantly not true when Super explores the greater cosmology.

If such an infinite darkness exists, the universes should be depicted as black spheres. Whilst I can live with finite-metaphorical representations of infinite universes, if they're not consistent with the information we're given, then cleary there's a retcon or 2 (or 4-5) here somewhere.
just want to say that there is no greater darkness around the universe when we see it from outside

finite light in inifinite darkness should NOT look like this.
