If I'm not mistaken, the phoenix force resisted and was not damaged by Ghost Rider's hellfire, which, according to DB itself, affects the souls of those who are hit by it.

Some people thought the ending was loving and respectful towards Vader.
I thought if you were going to kill Vader, you let him go out fighting. Also he has literally broken out of that exact illusion scenario, so like, whatever.
Otherwise, yeah the episode is goated.
