There is another monitor beside antimonitor and monitor . He and barbados collected the stable infinite universes and forged in to the orrey . er There weren't two monitors in the beginning, there were actually three. The Anti-Monitor and the Monitor were responsible for everything that had been created. The third was responsible for creating new universes in the Forge of the Dark Multiverse and letting them rise into light when they were stable. The ones that weren't stable were destroyed by Barbatos so that their material could be recycled. At some point, Barbatos killed the Forger and stopped destroying unstable realities that were never supposed to exist.
Lucien's Library contained these worlds. All these stories were supposed to take place in the Dreaming, and never make it into actual reality. The library contains all stories never told, and when a story does get told the book disappears from the Library. Barbatos making these unstable, unnatural realities exist was burning the books in the Library. The reason Dream is getting involved is because there's a chance that the fire would spread and consume the Dreaming.
The Nth metal plays in here because it's literally a diluted version of the metal used to forge entire universes.
