Calc for outrunning something?

What would be the proper speed calc method to finding out how fast someone is by outrunning something that was directed towards them?

Just to clarify, this is not standard reaction like ducking or moving out of the way of something in another direction, this is the user outrunning an incoming projectile in the same direction.
 
Basically this too would follow the Projectile Dodging Formula but instead of Projectile-to-Person distance used for dodging, we'd use the following:

(Distance moved by character x Projectile Velocity) / Distance Moved by Projectile from Muzzle

Of course, if the person and projectile are moving leg-and-leg, consider them even in speed.

okay, so for theoretical example, a person reacted to a direct beam of light fired at approximately 1 meter from the person and the person moved 3 meters from a beam that has a range of 3 meters too. That would be leg-and-leg example?

would it be something like this? (3 meters * 299,792,458 m/s) / 3 meters = 299 792 458 m / s

A better example would be this.

Suppose, a bullet fired, and the muzzle is about 1 feet (0.3048 m) away from the person's face. But the person statues the bullet and casually walks back 1.5 meters while viewing the bullet as effectively standing still but having performed its 1 feet movement. Suppose the bullet is a .357 Magnum from a 4-inch barrel, travelling at roughly 416.67 m/s.

Speed: (1.5 * 416.67) / 0.3048 = 2050.54133858 m/s
