This is exciting. I'll try to catch up on LN when I'm free.

Vol 14

Fantastic, guessing 3-5 month english release after its out.

Will be interesting to see if anything changes.

Probably yeah.

Depends on how he decides to do stuff. Based on the fact that is vol 14 instead of a new series, and the summary of the vol, I think maybe Shirakome will adapt it in chronological order instead of the all-out-of-place wn version. Maybe he would choose instead to do it as an initial time-skip to the first anniversary and then count things from that point onwards. He honestly has many ways to do this and I'm excited to read which one he will choose.

Exactly, it cannot be linear and still work but I don't know if Shirakome has that in his bag. Regardless it'll be interesting to see.

Still surprises me this series is up to a 3rd season after the debacle that was season 1.
I mean, despite its quality I still remember clearly how it was surprisingly one of the most popular series in that season, like I could even see people who didn't read the novels/manga saying how it was genuinely entertaining despite the bad quality.

And like, from the few numbers I could gather the light novel is actually quite popular in Japan, vol 11 for example was released in the same month as vols from series like Index or RZ and it still sold more than both of them (fun fact selling better than RZ seems to have happened at least in another occasion), and the thing has many spin-offs, even outside Japan is likely to have good numbers considering how the novels and mangas are licensed and up to date (or close to in the manga case) and they even made an audiobook release (which I think is something rare?), so the series seems to be one of those cases of small noise but solid numbers, as by 2021 it already sold 5 millions of copies in total (don't know its current numbers though, since that was before the second season even). The fact that an adaptation to ln of the after stories saw the green light was for a reason.

Man, this season will be really tough to watch with Kouki's presence. God, how I wish all his scenes pre-after stories disappeared from all media.

I think they changed the animation a bit, the motion of things seems smoother as well as the design of the characters looks a bit different from what I remember, the whole scene with the Haulia killing the soldiers also felt better than most battle animation of the previous season, like I could be wrong but I didn't notice any CGI in that part.

Guess I'll check out the first episode. Yeah Kouki is going to be a pain in the ass.

Not really, she ended up as the second strongest Hauria and a battle maid. I also remember her being participating in a Tortus tournament where she took the 2nd spot after a certain Belle.
Nea actually physically the second strongest or just the most skilled? I mean before becoming a battle maid because its not really fair at that point. Also I meant that she didn't end up as one of Hajime's lovers....wasn't that part of her motivation? I could be mistaken. I don't recall a character named Belle. Who dat?

She defeated all other female Haulia and was over a pile of their dead bodies, and even in a head-on combat she can't down groups of Haulia together (elite Haulia since from memory only the best were allowed to come to the empire for "diplomatic" purposes). The competition of the female Haulia is also fierce enough that the men shudder with it.

How contentious was Nea's victory? Did she have any close rivals, like Mina or Lana? Also did she only ever fight the females but not men? I want to see Cam throw down at some point.

The competition was mostly among females because it was for the position of harem member and battle maid, the point when the male finally lost it and tried to compete to also become Hajime's maid (due to jealousy) there were beaten by Hajime, in the diplomatic party gender didn't matter though, Nea is just straight up mentioned several times to be the strongest and deadliest of them, which is also why she is the only one with a job like artist and as shown by Vandre that job means a perfect affinity for combat and mastery of any and all martial arts. Also like, Cam is never really noted to be the strongest or among the best of the Haulia as far I can remember, his thing is just that he was the leader of the clan from the very beginning, and as such he also has the right to punish and torture them as he want (due to military hierarchy) so everyone has to follow, respect and fear him, but like it's also already decided that in the not to away future he will stop to be the leader and instead Kousuke will take his spot.

I wasn't trying to imply that men had a natural advantage. I just wanted to know if he had certified badass dudes since the series heavily leans on powerful female characters as is. I know Cam isn't particularly noteworthy throughout the series. I just wanted him to do something cool or impressive ever since his fight against the demons and Gahard.

I don't know what part of my post gave you the idea that I interpreted your question as having such implication, I just clarified that the competition for the position of battle maid/Fleur Knight was among the females, while the "diplomatic" party was between all Haulia. There are Pal and Cam, they are the only two relevant male Haulia, and in the after stories they haven't done anything particularly remarkable like the Nea thing.
