Fifteenth round of the 7-A brackets begins! The winner of the last round was Nonon.

Current Standings (A "-1" indicates a fighter was disqualified for whatever reasons)

The contenders for this round are Phoenix Ma, submitted by GyroNutz, and Rugal Bernstei, submitted by CrimsonStarFallen.

Omega Rugal and Second Resurrection Phoenix Man are used. Speed is equalized, battle takes place in this King of Fighters stadium.

Rugal scales above (IDK how much above) 300 Megatons, Phoenix Man is well above 397 Megatons.

Phoenix man via Regenerationn, resurrection, superior AP, and enhanced senses, he'll be able to take anything thrown at him and even if he falls he'll get back up, plus fire manipulation helps out as well being good for at range

And regen/ressurection takes a while from what I'm aware of and is useless if his clothes are destroyed.

One person having absorbtion doesn't stop the other from using it.

And again Rugal can copy Pheonix Man's techniques.

He also reflects projectiles.

Yeah it kinda does, if we have both have absorption, and I have higher AP, chances are I'm gonna be able to stop you, I can see him copying maybe physical ones, but not other ones, since it's under how skilled he is, that means it's not really a power, therefore it's unlikely that he could copy regen or resurrection, maybe fire manipulation in a lower scale, like maybe somehow generating his own energy into flames but that's it, and reflecting projectiles isn't really that good of a thing, condsidering that's only limiting one ability and Phoenix Man still has superior AP along with regen and resurrection

IDK if the AP gap is that wide, both seem to outclass characters who are within less of a 2x gap.

That said I'm unfamiliar with how his power absorption/technique duplication works or how good it is.

Personally I think Phoenix Man takes this if Rugal's Absorption isn't good enough, as he wouldn't last long enough to focus on destroying Phoenix Man's suit.

Actually Rugal's stamina is pretty terrible.

Yeah it's not that wide but the fact there is a gap, it at least adds somewhat of an advantage, and I'm pretty sure the absorption isn't good enough, and you can't really beat something that's just gonna heal what you do to it or resurrect even if you can kill it unless you have some hax, as well as it being slightly physically superior

Rugal's certainly more skilled.

How fast does Phoenix Man's ressurection work? Because if it takes > a day Rugal wins under SBA.

And his ressurection only seems to give him mid-low regen, which is fairly easy to get past if you're comparable to the other fighter.

Pheonix man's resurection is pretty fast, as it allowed him to resurect before Child Emperor could run away from the battlefield

I thought resurrection completely heals you, then he has mid-low along with it, but I may be thinking of a different type, isn't there like absolute resurrection to, can't remember so may be mistaken, apologies if I am

IDK how bad the punishment his ressurection can get him back from, usually ressurection comes hand in hand with Regenerationn.

His resurrection allows him to come back almost straight away from a huge AoE attack that one-shot him. So long as his suit is somewhat intact, he should be able to resurrect from most notable physical damage. If he does ressurrect, he gets a massive spike in power, which was enough to take him from Low 7-B to decently far into 7-A. But destroying his suit prevents him from resurrecting.

Phoenix Man is pretty skilled in his own right, being one of the only non-cadre monsters to be respected by Gyoro Gyoro and being able to outsmart even Child Emperor at times.

He's still susceptible to any sort of non-AP based hax like BFR, mind hax, sealing, AZ, death manip etc, and if you do overpower him you have a very good opportunity to destroy his suit. I'd say the weakness of the ressurection is more than enough to balance it.

None of the characters in this turnament have any hax of that kind

And since the suit survived getting nuked in to oblivion by an attack that one shotted Phoenix, it doesn't seem a great enought weakness to balance it

Anyway ima vote PM due to far greater mobility, greater AP, Regenerationn, and PM should be able to get resurrection off should it come down to it cause I doubt Rugal will go through the efforts of ripping apart PM's suit after he's gone down.

I should probably mention that Rugal very likely outskills Phoenix Man so badly that it's not even funny since he has mastered every single fighting style that exists and his own fighting style is officially described as "A composite fighting style mastering all fighting styles."

IIRC he was even originally supposed to have every move from every character in his game but only didn't because the limitations in the arcade didn't allow for that.

On the enhanced senses thing, it (possibly, don't know how Good PM's senses are) cancels out with Omega Rugal sensing the Chi of people nearby. Fire manipulation is nothing new to him since his main enemies Kusanagi and Iori are all about using this.

He can also reflect energy projectiles back to the sender with Energy reflector.

But the more dangerous thing he has is the Orochi Venom, since it makes the energy of the Orochi power flow within the striken enemy, "poisoning" them from the inside. In short notice I don't know if this does much but too much Orochi power being released within someone has been shown to make them explode from the inside (OR himself post his defeat dies like this).

Finally, in the original game Rugal's attacks do happen to destroy the clothes of whoever he happens to be fighting when they are beaten. Not sure if that would give him a chance at stopping PM's resurrection or if it would mean he can tear apart his suit.

PM's enhanced senses aren't anything too impressive, so it probably does, yeah.

So long as he doesn't resist fire manip, PM's fire attacks should work fine. He doesn't really use energy projectiles, but even if his attacks were reflected he could absorb them and/or Rugal's own energy based attacks.

From the descriptions, Rugal needs a physical hit to 'inject' the Orochi power, but PM would fight at range 99% of the time. So while its definitely a way to put down PM, I don't think he'll have the chance to inject enough to make PM explode.

Oh I just meant he has experience with fighting it. Yes, he needs a physical hit and is more of a CQC fighter. While he's not without ranged options himself since he can spam Energy Blasts , since you said PM can absorb this too I suppose that's moot.

All in all guess I'll give it to PM then since his stuff limits many of Rugal's options of winning.

The depressing part is Phoenix Man isn't the first 7-A in this bracket to be downgraded into Low 7-B.

It's a bit too late to replace him so if that calc goes through he's sadly disqualified and Rugal moves forward.

I'd rather if Banjo & Kazooie weren't used tbh. Their 7-A key is incomplete rn and in all honesty, they shouldn't have a 7-A key, since the supposed feat they scale to was calced at only 8-A.
