We've been abbreviating "remote control" wrong the entire time. "Remote" is the adjective, as it describes the noun: "control". It lets you know that the control for whatever device, machine, etc. is remote. Abbreviating "remote control" as "remote" is like calling a blue jay a blue.

We should be abbreviating "remote control" as "control", not "remote".
